Title: About charging Wii controllers Post by: MOX on 28 February 2009, 04:23:07 My sister just got a Wii and wants to get a charging station for her controller. By default the controls are powered by two AA batteries. You guys suggest any good charging stations for the price?
How exactly do they work also? Do the charging stations come with rechargeable batteries for the controller and you charge via usb with the charging dock? Title: Re: About charging Wii controllers Post by: ChaosVortex on 28 February 2009, 04:29:31 I use rechargable batteries instead of rechargable controllers, since I can use the batteries for other electronics as well. Forgot how much that'll run you though. Check out your local Wal-Mart.
Title: Re: About charging Wii controllers Post by: ASR on 28 February 2009, 04:32:27 I have a charging dock. It's great. I forgot what it's called and I can't really help you because it's at school, but trust me, they're worth it.
Title: Re: About charging Wii controllers Post by: Fatso on 28 February 2009, 04:34:59 $30 will set you up for six months or so, depending on how much you use it of course.
Title: Re: About charging Wii controllers Post by: ASR on 28 February 2009, 04:47:06 Here, found the one I have.
(http://digadget.com/digital-gadget/wp-content/uploads/2007/02/wii-charge-station-nyko.jpg) Well, a picture of it, at least. It comes with new battery covers with a grip on the back, which I really like. Title: Re: About charging Wii controllers Post by: Fatso on 28 February 2009, 04:49:46 Yes, that's the exact same one as mine and they worked great for six months but since then have had difficulty holding more than half an hour of charge.
Title: Re: About charging Wii controllers Post by: ASR on 28 February 2009, 04:52:47 I've had mine for over a year and they're still fine.
Granted, I don't use my Wii all that often. Title: Re: About charging Wii controllers Post by: Majikn on 28 February 2009, 05:41:08 My problem with those is I couldn't get more batteries for them without buying a whole new set.
There are rechargeable batteries that exist that are compatible with anything, and have their own rechargeable station. Dynacharge, we used to use. And then people kept losing all the damn batteries. Title: Re: About charging Wii controllers Post by: Abominator on 28 February 2009, 10:16:37 I've got a Nyko Power Station, almost like ASR's.
It's worked perfectly for about as long as I've had a Wii. Title: Re: About charging Wii controllers Post by: Chron on 1 March 2009, 13:15:39 I've not had problems with mine, and it's also the same model as ASR's...
... but I never really use my Wii these days. Rechargeable batteries hold full charge much longer if you use them until they fully lose charge and only then put them back on the charger until they are, of course, fully charged. Title: Re: About charging Wii controllers Post by: Abominator on 1 March 2009, 13:39:13 I just ordered one of these, but it hasn't arrived yet:
(http://regmedia.co.uk/2007/09/14/thrustmaster.jpg) It's like a Wavebird except it has rumble. I'm sick of being wired to my Wii to play GC stuff and having a wiimote dangling off my Classic Controller so this seems like the best of both worlds. Title: Re: About charging Wii controllers Post by: NovaMan XP on 1 March 2009, 18:31:45 So, that's a wireless Classic Controller? Looks a little funny, I hope it isn't as big as I think it is.
They need to make a Classic controller that has a plugin for the Wii remote AND the GameCube slot (And obviously be wireless)... I love the Classic Controller way more than the GC controller. How much are Wavebirds anyway (if they're still being sold anyway). Title: Re: About charging Wii controllers Post by: preventerWIND on 1 March 2009, 19:11:27 That looks really awesome. Looks a lot better than the Nyko Wing, which was the same kind of PS2-esque controller. I'd get that because a) It looks MUCH better than the Wing, and b) LOL THRUSTMASTER
This, is the Wing. (http://www.hardwaresphere.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/11/nyko-wing-wireless-wii-controller.jpg) Title: Re: About charging Wii controllers Post by: Slugkid on 1 March 2009, 21:09:03 But it's called Wind, WIND. It's like, it's so totally cool that you have a controller that says Wind in it, since you are WIND, WIND.
Title: Re: About charging Wii controllers Post by: preventerWIND on 1 March 2009, 21:13:56 No, it's actually called the Wing, but you know how much I, WIND, would love to have a controller saying Wind on it, because I'm WIND right? Anything that says Wind on it is good for WIND.
Title: Re: About charging Wii controllers Post by: Slugkid on 1 March 2009, 21:14:57 Oh. That G looks sort of like a D on the picture, if you skim through it.
Title: Re: About charging Wii controllers Post by: Johncarllos on 2 March 2009, 02:20:12 I hate d-pads like that.....
Title: Re: About charging Wii controllers Post by: Chron on 2 March 2009, 02:36:03 The best d-pad on the planet, as far as I'm concerned, was the SNES one. PSX type controllers are close, but since they lack the center it makes it a little harder to roll with it.
I've never understood d-pads having depressed centers; you use the edges, not the middle. Not that a raised center would be good either, but flat is best in my opinion. I actually like how the Wing looks better. Neither controller seems very ergonomic, but they don't have much of a bar to raise considering the classic controller's design. ... regardless, I did manage to beat Super Metroid in under 3:00h 100% with the classic controller, so it's not that bad. Title: Re: About charging Wii controllers Post by: Johncarllos on 2 March 2009, 02:40:06 SNES d-pad is THE best hands down.
Nothing beats it. Title: Re: About charging Wii controllers Post by: ChaosVortex on 2 March 2009, 02:51:11 You fools!
The Gamecube D-pad is the best! It's unbelievably comfortable and conveniently placed! Title: Re: About charging Wii controllers Post by: preventerWIND on 2 March 2009, 02:53:48 I'M CHAOS BUM BUM BUM YOU CAN'T BE SERIOUS UR DUM THIS MUST BE A JOKE!
Ho-hum! Title: Re: About charging Wii controllers Post by: Chron on 2 March 2009, 02:54:52 Oh, boy, woo-hoo. That was a good one, CV. You crack me up.
But seriously, if you were going for irony: BEST PLACEMENT! SOOOOO~ COMFORTABLE! (http://i1.iofferphoto.com/img/item/642/739/51/08a0_1.JPG) i actually have one of these bastards you're better off using the standard for the only game ever made for this thing, NiGHTS, and NiGHTS is a pretty stupid game Title: Re: About charging Wii controllers Post by: preventerWIND on 2 March 2009, 02:58:06 BARF
Title: Re: About charging Wii controllers Post by: saldite on 2 March 2009, 02:58:27 SWEET JESUS!
That thing is more awkward than having a third testicle. Seeing that kinda' makes me glad I never bothered with the Sega Saturn. Title: Re: About charging Wii controllers Post by: preventerWIND on 2 March 2009, 03:00:25 I'd rather have a third testicle than a Sega Saturn..
Title: Re: About charging Wii controllers Post by: Chron on 2 March 2009, 03:01:51 SHUT THE HELL UP YOU IDIOT CHILDREN
YOU'RE JUST COVERING UP FOR THE FACT THAT YOU NEVER GOT TO PLAY PANZER DRAGOON OR GUARDIAN HEROES AND THUS LEAD DISEASED AND EMPTY CHILDHOODS, NEVER TO BE REPAok yeah there really aren't very many games but i love it anyway Title: Re: About charging Wii controllers Post by: ChaosVortex on 2 March 2009, 03:02:13 I never had a Sega Saturn, or vaguely remembered of it's existence.
Never handled that controller, but by it's looks, I'd argue that the Gamecube one is worse than th- wait, is the back of that controller flat? Title: Re: About charging Wii controllers Post by: preventerWIND on 2 March 2009, 03:03:29 HOW DOES IT MOTION SENSOR ???
Title: Re: About charging Wii controllers Post by: Chron on 2 March 2009, 03:04:58 I never had a Sega Saturn, or vaguely remembered of it's existence. Mostly. The bars you see down the sides raise back a little, but not much. The real kicker is that this thing is pretty much the size of your face, and the triggers are way the hell up there on the back of those bars. Title: Re: About charging Wii controllers Post by: ChaosVortex on 2 March 2009, 03:07:50 Sounds like I'd have a better time trying to figure out how to play Super Mario Bros. with a Nintendo Zapper.
Title: Re: About charging Wii controllers Post by: preventerWIND on 2 March 2009, 03:13:41 Sounds like I'd have a better time trying to figure out how to play Super Mario Bros. with the Power Glove.
Title: Re: About charging Wii controllers Post by: Chron on 2 March 2009, 03:16:20 That's a whole different level of anti-usability right there, actually.
Title: Re: About charging Wii controllers Post by: ChaosVortex on 2 March 2009, 03:19:18 its just so bad (http://its just so bad)
EDIT: I dont know how I managed to do that, but I like it. I'm keeping it. I'll redo the post here: its just so bad (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ya0F83Bmbl4) Title: Re: About charging Wii controllers Post by: Chron on 2 March 2009, 03:22:50 I was going to post that sce- THE BUTTONS TAP OUT THE TUNE FROM CLOSE ENCOUNTERS OF THE THIRD KIND.
HOLY CRAPOLA! Title: Re: About charging Wii controllers Post by: MOX on 2 March 2009, 04:14:16 Speaking of Sega I heard there's a Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection, seems like a good way to play some of the Genesis classics if you never got to.
Title: Re: About charging Wii controllers Post by: Chron on 2 March 2009, 13:16:33 Except that most of them aren't classics, and there's no Gunstar Heroes, no Toejam and Earl, no Toejam and Earl 2 and no Rocket Knight Adventures (among others).
Instead you get awful crap like Golden Axe and Phantasy Star. If your game list was that game list, with the exception of the Sonic games, you'd be better off with an SNES. Title: Re: About charging Wii controllers Post by: Abominator on 2 March 2009, 19:43:42 Toejam and Earl was never as good as people think.
Title: Re: About charging Wii controllers Post by: Vinchenz Rock on 2 March 2009, 20:40:02 Instead you get awful crap like Golden Axe and Phantasy Star. stfu i hat u diediediediedei Title: Re: About charging Wii controllers Post by: NovaMan XP on 2 March 2009, 21:06:03 Also you can't play the locked on Versions of Sonic & Knuckles, so no Sonic 3 & Knuckles or Knuckles in Sonic 2. Just the seperate games.
Title: Re: About charging Wii controllers Post by: ASR on 2 March 2009, 21:12:31 Toejam and Earl was never as good as people think. Thank you. So much. Title: Re: About charging Wii controllers Post by: Mikero on 2 March 2009, 22:20:49 I was never interested in it, which probably means it wasn't any good.
Title: Re: About charging Wii controllers Post by: Chron on 3 March 2009, 00:13:10 It was one of the few awesome 2-player games out there.
Boring as hell if you were alone, but a great time with a friend. Abe just never had any fr-*TRANSMISSION LOST* Title: Re: About charging Wii controllers Post by: Abominator on 3 March 2009, 16:50:14 OH.
Title: Re: About charging Wii controllers Post by: Mikero on 3 March 2009, 21:38:44 At least you ain't got no money.
Title: Re: About charging Wii controllers Post by: Abominator on 3 March 2009, 21:49:03 Y'ALL KNOW THAT ####'S TRUE.
Title: Re: About charging Wii controllers Post by: Snare on 4 March 2009, 00:18:20 You can't really be that ugly Abe.
I bet you're dreeeeamy. Title: Re: About charging Wii controllers Post by: ASR on 4 March 2009, 00:19:08 You're on!
$20 says I wouldn't sleep with him. Title: Re: About charging Wii controllers Post by: Mikero on 4 March 2009, 03:28:05 Wouldn't, or couldn't? Because maybe he's just out of your league and I don't think it counts as "wouldn't" if you want to sleep with him but he's says no.
Title: Re: About charging Wii controllers Post by: ASR on 4 March 2009, 03:29:28 Sometimes you just have to count those as "wouldn't"s.
For self-esteem reasons. Title: Re: About charging Wii controllers Post by: Mikero on 4 March 2009, 03:46:06 So what you mean to say is sometimes YOU just have to count those as "wouldn't"s.
Title: Re: About charging Wii controllers Post by: ASR on 4 March 2009, 04:03:10 Right now I'm more concerned about how to say "wouldn't"s correctly. That doesn't seem right.
