Okay, so I'm a fan of Guitar Hero 3. I never owned 1 or 2, but I definitely played them a ton. I bought 3 when it came out, never expecting to have enough money to blow on Rock Band.

Welllll, I just got Rock Band for Channukah. I had 4 buddies over last night and we spent over 5 hours in a gloomy basement playing Rock Band and it was a total blast. We were laughing every second, or getting hardcore and crap like that. It's the ultimate party game - plus, it's really fun making your own characters although it is pretty limited.
We made our own band and switched around a bunch. At one point, we set the drumset to expert and had the 5th person (only 4 were able to play at a time) control just the drumset pedal.
The singing stuff also makes for great fun, too.

It's awesome that you can use the GH3 guitar, seeing as its wireless while the Rock Band stuff is not.

I don't think I've had that much fun in a while. I'm really good at the drums, which makes sense since I'm a drummer. It's still very different. No rebound on the sticks, which will probably bug a lot of drummers. The whole lot of us (my friends and I) are in the school drumline together (and play drumset on our free time a lot) and we got over it, but I suspect some hardcore drummers won't.

Now, this morning, since everyone was finally gone, I was able to play single-player for a bit. Just as fun, because that's the more serious side to the game. It's just as in-depth as GH3's career mode, and it's different than the multiplayer Create-A-Band career mode also featured in the game - the whole experience is very diverse.

If I had a 360 and the 170 bucks to shell out for it, i would buy it in a heartbeat.

I played Rock Band at Best Buy tonight with a couple buddies, it was pretty tight.  It's kind of hard to keep the stick ON the pad when you hit it, I guess maybe because I was standing up.  The demo didn't have a bass pedal or a microphone but it was pretty sweet anyways.

My friends do the "gay gay sex lol" thing a lot.  I've stopped forcing laughter for awhile now.

I've realized that the only fun thing about the game is the drums.

Everything else can be found in other games.

Doesn't mean that stuff isn't fun.

I can't wait to get it for Wii later this summer!

I personally am excited for Guitar Hero 4, but I doubt I'll ever get it due to the fact that it will likely be just as expensive as Rock Band and I already paid for that, plus the drum set won't be interchangeable since GH4's has one extra button on it.

Exactly. I have both GH3 and Rock Band for 360, and even though GH4 looks amazing, and even though I know I'd love it, I promise you I'll never get it.

So played Rockband with a friend of mine yesterday for a few hours.
He was on drums, I was on Guitar, both on Expert, on 'Green Grass and High Tides".
Crazy song on guitar, but I never failed, and average difficulty on Drums which he 98%'d.
I only got 85% on Guitar. Hardest song in the game.

I really want to get Rock Band. I was planning on getting it before I graduated from college, however, I rightly decided that my parents would be pissed enough after discovering that I had a 360 since September without ever telling them, so it would be in my best interests not to get it.

Now that I have my budgeting figured out, I think I'm going to save up whatever money I don't blow on entertainment (the bar, movies, and other video games) and put it towards Rock Band.

Wait until Guitar Hero 4. It looks to be superior and if you buy Rock Band there will be no reason to ever get the superior Guitar Hero 4.

If I could change time, that would be my plan.

Or perhaps I could get both, seeing as I like both series.

My point is that I hardly have enough room to store the Rock Band equipment, and most of it won't be compatible with GH4 since the GH4 drumset has an extra button and the GH4 guitar has added doohickeys so that it even renders old GH guitars useless, though still compatible.

Speed, do not get Rock Band, wait for GH4, it will be better in almost all ways.

In other news, everyone knows how bad the rock band drums are, But I saw a guy playing with a 3rd party drum set that was absolutely killer, like, it actually had a pedal-lever combo which THEN hit the pad.

The problem with the Rock Band drumset is that it's too loud. Everything else about it is clumsy but acceptable. I just can't stand how loud it is.

The GH4 has been reportedly very quiet and much more sturdy. Also, WIRELESS.

SICK, but the Rock Band drums are SO sensitive that if you play them like real drums (very hard), it actually activates the drum NEXT to it. It is the #2 complaint after the bass pedals breaking.

I'm thinking of getting Rock Band but if I don't, I won't be playing multiplayer Guitar Hero-like video games until April next year.

No Online: It's the Wii what did you expect?

GH3 on Wii can go online, so it just makes sense that Rock Band should go online. It's stupid to think otherwise, when it's pretty clear they're gipping anyone who buys Rock Band for Wii.

Rock Band plays a lot nicer than the Guitar Hero games, and that makes me love it even more than the others.

Drums are awesome as hell, but I tend to stick with the guitar, just because its what I'm best at.

Five starred all the expert songs with the guitar, and currently working on Hard for the drums.

I've got all the additional download songs, and I love almost all of them.

Anyway. Rock Band is amazing. I have it for PS3, so if anyone wants to play with the guitar hero master himself, my PSN user name is Apathie.

And if I had any interest in the game, yeah, I'd want the same thing too. I used to love Tony Hawk's Pro Skater games but everyone else I knew hated them, so I sold my copies. Online play would make the game all the more satisfying.

I think my new dust collector, otherwise knowns as a Guitar Hero guitar, serves only one purpose; To let me know that I'm pretty much done with OWNING any of these pattern type games again. Like I used to love DDR, and now it's one of the last games I want to play at any time. I'll TRY other ones, other Guitar Heroes, and I'll play the one I have now and then, but I don't think it's worth buying for me anymore.

The reminder for me is a closet full of Rock Band equipment that hasn't been touched in at least two months.

Well, if you can beat Green Grass and High Tides on Expert, first time ever playing, you ain't bad. If you can do that and have never played a guitar Rhythm game, you just might be.

It's excessively easy on most songs. Not many bass lines are harder on expert than the harder songs on medium into the average songs on hard.

One is the backup sound.

No difference play wise.
