I love this place too, but until Legends 3 or MMX9 comes out, it'll keep getting more dead.

I have to say, out of the dead forums I've happened to infest, this one is still the most lively by far, so I wouldn't particularly worry about it.

Still, it used to be much more active. Or much less dead.

I blame all the Battle Network, Zero, Star Force and ZX games for killing interest in MegaMan, to the point that even MegaMan 9 and 10 haven't resurrected it.

Also the fact that it was costing me a fortune to run the Radio and MChat for a handful of people didn't help, nor did the fact that I just don't have time to make content for the site anymore.

I really love all the people here, but as every aspect of life gets gradually worse, there's less good stuff to talk about!

And finally, the fact that "the internet" has pretty much become "YouTube, Facebook, Twitter and Wikipedia" means sites like this are all doomed.

I think that if I ever get my act together and get the old MM guides back up, we should all club in and make guides for MM8, 9 and 10, which would be a decent little project for us.

MM8 I could probably help make a guide for.

You're right, though, the current internet is mostly large, synonymous sites like Facebook or larger pseudonymous sites that have been around for a while.  I chalk it up to the internet itself being more accessible to idiots and people who aren't actually into computers that much.  Small fansites like this are almost a thing of the past... and generally the more obscure something is, the less a chance of the forum still being around.

For instance, there are no dedicated Grandia fan forums any more, and all of the sites are quite very dead.  I would know.  I was an admin at the last one.

I'm glad I'm here. I remember how excited I was to find such a cool board with such cool and fun people who use it.
It's still a fun place, and I check it every time I check facebook.

I know what you mean. I've always had this small dream to eventually build a website of my own, and maybe make it almost like a social network dedicated to gaming. But I'm constantly thinking at the same time, "Why bother? Everybody goes on Facebook for their news feed nowadays. Making a website would be pointless."

Unless you're trying to make money.

In fact, every time I say something along the lines of "Yeah, I saw it on Facebook" on this board, it saddens me.

I honestly only still come here because I've known you guys for such a long time and this is pretty much the only place where I can see you guys (screw facebook and other social networks, plus AIM sucks).

However, I'm all up for contributing to whatever for this site, Abe. I'm still a gamer and a MegaMan fan and reviving this website would be in my interest.

Let's all take this moment to thank Abe for paying to keep this site online out of his own pocket to essentially allow us to just talk with one another about inconsequential bull##### that no longer has any real relevance to the fandom of MegaMan.

If I ever find myself with some loose cash to throw around, I'll definitely send some in the way of MMM as a show of thanks and support for keeping the site alive all these years even as activity has been dwindling.

You guys are all pretty great, I guess.

I like to archive my favourite conversations. It's a very time-consuming hobby. I should probably do that here soon.

Maybe if we made a cool Megaman flash game and put it on the homepage people would come to the forums to tell us how #####ty and glitchy the game is, then we flame them and they stick around because nobody wants to lose a fight on the internet.

In that manner, ASR is a jerk. I love the MMM. School is just raping my life this year, I have very little free time and this year it's all going to videogames.

Yeah, school is prohibiting me from posting much and playing video games.

I do miss the old days, though, but I guess that's never coming back.

I don't have anything to do besides complain, look for jobs and play the same games I've been playing for a long time now... with brief interludes of new games thanks to the charity of others.

I thought maybe Legends 3 news would liven things up a bit and for a while that seemed to be OK... but then Capcom seems to have dropped the ball on publicity.  They could have totally Japan Timed the hell out of this thing, but nooooooo~.

It's possible the reason MMM isn't so popular is because most of the members here either don't like or don't care about most of the new MM games Capcom has been pushing out lately.  That, and there actually hasn't been much interesting news for us besides.  MM10 was a huge disappointment in my eyes and I feel it was pretty underwhelming to most of us as well.

90% of what we talk about here isn't really MM related, so on the off chance we do get a new member it's difficult for them to stay very long because of that, I think.
Obviously not impossible because we have Slugkid here and that's cool, but it's been a while.

Part of the reason we're not good at "advertising" is because MMM is like an apartment with just a bed and a desk, and someone threw the desk out.  We have a forum... that's it.  Hell, Rez's H site is more active and we actually talk about Megaman related garbage a lot there.

The other, and I think much larger reason, is because deep in your brains somewhere there is a worry that if this place becomes any bigger it will lose that "small town feel".

Abe's right: other sites have replaced message boards, or at least the role they used to play.  Instead of going on the internet to meet weird people from other parts of the world, you go on Facebook and stalk your old schoolmates.  At least that's what I do.  But there will always be the group of people who don't like their local peers and will need a place to go and socialise, so I can't see message board communities dying out completely.

I wouldn't exactly say I'm "me" on Facebook.  In real life I'm not nearly so ... vocal or something?  I'm a lot more considerate of other people's feelings, too.  The arrogance does carry over, though, slightly.
