Title: Let's try and liven up the MegaMan Matrix Post by: Slugkid on 16 August 2010, 03:58:12 Dudes, MMM is slowly dying...
Just look at this 12-2007: 9903 posts 01-2008: 6843 - 11-2009: 710 12-2009: 603 - 05-2010: 508. 06-2010: 418. 07-2010: 329. 08-2010: 101... I know this is noticeable enough without me pointing it out. But still. Maybe we should lure new blood into the forum, somehow? Making it a gaming in general forum? Adding H? Advertising it? Adding H? I seriously don't want MMM to be dead. Or to be as inactive as it is nowadays, anyway... Title: Re: Let's try and liven up the MegaMan Matrix Post by: Johncarllos on 16 August 2010, 04:03:41 I love this place too, but until Legends 3 or MMX9 comes out, it'll keep getting more dead.
Title: Re: Let's try and liven up the MegaMan Matrix Post by: Slugkid on 16 August 2010, 04:09:05 I know. That's why I made the thread.
And, what when they come out? It'll get a bunch more posts for a while then slowly die again. Not cool. Title: Re: Let's try and liven up the MegaMan Matrix Post by: Chron on 16 August 2010, 05:24:18 Dying?
You suggest it's still in the process. This place is dead. It has been for a while. It is a corpse and we are the maggots stripping it to the bone. Title: Re: Let's try and liven up the MegaMan Matrix Post by: Snare on 16 August 2010, 07:09:07 It wouldn't be so dead if you louts would just REPLY TO MY GODDAMN POSTS.
Title: Re: Let's try and liven up the MegaMan Matrix Post by: NovaMan XP on 16 August 2010, 07:09:52 Hey guys, let's not reply to Snare's posts, he's a jerk!
Title: Re: Let's try and liven up the MegaMan Matrix Post by: Snare on 16 August 2010, 07:23:45 Never believe Novaman he's a clod.
Title: Re: Let's try and liven up the MegaMan Matrix Post by: Fatso on 16 August 2010, 07:25:28 I have to say, out of the dead forums I've happened to infest, this one is still the most lively by far, so I wouldn't particularly worry about it.
Title: Re: Let's try and liven up the MegaMan Matrix Post by: Slugkid on 16 August 2010, 08:50:31 Still, it used to be much more active. Or much less dead.
@Chron: I thought dying was only used for the verb dye, but I wasn't sure. DHURR ARGENTINIAN KID IS ARGENTINIAN Ahem. Title: Re: Let's try and liven up the MegaMan Matrix Post by: Abominator on 16 August 2010, 13:30:43 I blame all the Battle Network, Zero, Star Force and ZX games for killing interest in MegaMan, to the point that even MegaMan 9 and 10 haven't resurrected it.
Also the fact that it was costing me a fortune to run the Radio and MChat for a handful of people didn't help, nor did the fact that I just don't have time to make content for the site anymore. I really love all the people here, but as every aspect of life gets gradually worse, there's less good stuff to talk about! And finally, the fact that "the internet" has pretty much become "YouTube, Facebook, Twitter and Wikipedia" means sites like this are all doomed. I think that if I ever get my act together and get the old MM guides back up, we should all club in and make guides for MM8, 9 and 10, which would be a decent little project for us. Title: Re: Let's try and liven up the MegaMan Matrix Post by: Chron on 16 August 2010, 13:43:19 MM8 I could probably help make a guide for.
You're right, though, the current internet is mostly large, synonymous sites like Facebook or larger pseudonymous sites that have been around for a while. I chalk it up to the internet itself being more accessible to idiots and people who aren't actually into computers that much. Small fansites like this are almost a thing of the past... and generally the more obscure something is, the less a chance of the forum still being around. For instance, there are no dedicated Grandia fan forums any more, and all of the sites are quite very dead. I would know. I was an admin at the last one. Still, it used to be much more active. Or much less dead. You're right. It should be dieing. That's a stupid looking word. OH NO I MADE A GRAMMATICAL MISTAKE HEAVEN FORBID NOBODY FREAK OUT ABOUT IT This is why I don't stay here all the time. Title: Re: Let's try and liven up the MegaMan Matrix Post by: Johncarllos on 16 August 2010, 15:29:37 Oh Chorn, you silly dude.
Yeah, no new people really want to join forums any more because they seem clunky and pointless. Why bother trying to fit in with a new crowd online when you already have all your friends on facebook? I'm glad I'm here. I remember how excited I was to find such a cool board with such cool and fun people who use it. It's still a fun place, and I check it every time I check facebook. Title: Re: Let's try and liven up the MegaMan Matrix Post by: ChaosVortex on 16 August 2010, 19:53:13 I check it out too. This place might come back, but who knows.
And finally, the fact that "the internet" has pretty much become "YouTube, Facebook, Twitter and Wikipedia" means sites like this are all doomed. I know what you mean. I've always had this small dream to eventually build a website of my own, and maybe make it almost like a social network dedicated to gaming. But I'm constantly thinking at the same time, "Why bother? Everybody goes on Facebook for their news feed nowadays. Making a website would be pointless." Unless you're trying to make money. In fact, every time I say something along the lines of "Yeah, I saw it on Facebook" on this board, it saddens me. Title: Re: Let's try and liven up the MegaMan Matrix Post by: Vinchenz Rock on 18 August 2010, 01:48:47 I honestly only still come here because I've known you guys for such a long time and this is pretty much the only place where I can see you guys (screw facebook and other social networks, plus AIM sucks).
However, I'm all up for contributing to whatever for this site, Abe. I'm still a gamer and a MegaMan fan and reviving this website would be in my interest. Title: Re: Let's try and liven up the MegaMan Matrix Post by: ASR on 18 August 2010, 05:47:31 Let's all take this moment to thank Abe for paying to keep this site online out of his own pocket to essentially allow us to just talk with one another about inconsequential bull##### that no longer has any real relevance to the fandom of MegaMan.
If I ever find myself with some loose cash to throw around, I'll definitely send some in the way of MMM as a show of thanks and support for keeping the site alive all these years even as activity has been dwindling. You guys are all pretty great, I guess. Title: Re: Let's try and liven up the MegaMan Matrix Post by: Majikn on 18 August 2010, 07:34:25 I like to archive my favourite conversations. It's a very time-consuming hobby. I should probably do that here soon.
Title: Re: Let's try and liven up the MegaMan Matrix Post by: Johncarllos on 18 August 2010, 16:42:28 Hey Abe, how do I send you money?
Title: Re: Let's try and liven up the MegaMan Matrix Post by: Abominator on 18 August 2010, 17:27:57 Thanks for the offer but it's really not that much now that we're not on a dedicated server.
I should send you a bill for the last 6 years though, ha ha! (seriously, it's ok) Title: Re: Let's try and liven up the MegaMan Matrix Post by: Johncarllos on 18 August 2010, 19:05:20 Alright then.
Is there really anything we can do to liven this place up though? Maybe if we made a cool Megaman flash game and put it on the homepage people would come to the forums to tell us how #####ty and glitchy the game is, then we flame them and they stick around because nobody wants to lose a fight on the internet. Title: Re: Let's try and liven up the MegaMan Matrix Post by: Chron on 18 August 2010, 19:37:32 If only I still had Flash.
... or, well, even if I did still have it I'd need a version that would work with the new viewers. Title: Re: Let's try and liven up the MegaMan Matrix Post by: Captain Sanoguchi on 19 August 2010, 06:24:40 I got bored of this place after Sano left.
Title: Re: Let's try and liven up the MegaMan Matrix Post by: ChaosVortex on 19 August 2010, 07:01:39 You can stay Sano. I think a good lot of us have actually grown out of picking on you.
(I actually have no proof of that, I'd just like to believe it) Title: Re: Let's try and liven up the MegaMan Matrix Post by: Majikn on 19 August 2010, 07:09:55 Some of us never picked on you but just outright hated your personality, but it's all good!
Title: Re: Let's try and liven up the MegaMan Matrix Post by: TheRedPriest on 19 August 2010, 14:22:28 I like the H idea. We can have the best of both worlds and be the Mega Man MatriXXX! Just imagine, game guides with H in them! Where can I find Cut Man's weakness AND a picture of Roll taking "input" from all 3 access points?
But yeah... I know how it is. I don't have the time to keep my place up either, which is also pretty dead and the only thing it DOES have is porn. ...#####ing Zero/ZX/Starforce #####. Title: Re: Let's try and liven up the MegaMan Matrix Post by: ChaosVortex on 26 October 2010, 03:47:09 We're so bored that Chaos is playing MegaMan X7. Actually, I'm just too impatient to wait to buy a camera and editing equipment that I'll probably never get around to so I can implement my review idea. Plus this game is just sitting there, uncompleted, calling my name every day like a curse. This has to be done... But that works too, lol. Title: Re: Let's try and liven up the MegaMan Matrix Post by: Edgecrusher on 27 October 2010, 03:04:19 Rez's tale of the fate of DZX9 is truer to his spirit here than the reality of the situation, so I think we can go ahead and call it canon.
Title: Re: Let's try and liven up the MegaMan Matrix Post by: Aresian on 27 October 2010, 03:35:56 Wow. Nothing changes I guess. Well, there are always other places in the Megaman Fandom if we all die a horrible death here. Well, more than we already have anyway. Oh well, it is still nice to see that people like Orclev and Kian are still around somewhere on the nets.
Well anyway, the only way MMM is gonna come back from the dead is if there is enough publicity and new members. Something MMM has never been well known for. >_> Such is the way of things though. Title: Re: Let's try and liven up the MegaMan Matrix Post by: ASR on 27 October 2010, 03:49:47 I never liked you lot anyway.
Title: Re: Let's try and liven up the MegaMan Matrix Post by: Aresian on 27 October 2010, 04:10:33 Wow, that was rather abrupt. I never said anything of dislike towards you. Then again, I guess we never got along or something like that.
I just haven't seen Orclev and Kian in ages, so it was nice to see they're around, especially the former. What crawled up your butt and died? Title: Re: Let's try and liven up the MegaMan Matrix Post by: Johncarllos on 27 October 2010, 04:14:21 He's just ASR. He doesn't really not like you. He just doesn't not like you.

Title: Re: Let's try and liven up the MegaMan Matrix Post by: Vinchenz Rock on 27 October 2010, 07:00:49 Yeah, school is prohibiting me from posting much and playing video games.
I do miss the old days, though, but I guess that's never coming back. Title: Re: Let's try and liven up the MegaMan Matrix Post by: Chron on 27 October 2010, 13:25:06 I don't have anything to do besides complain, look for jobs and play the same games I've been playing for a long time now... with brief interludes of new games thanks to the charity of others.
I thought maybe Legends 3 news would liven things up a bit and for a while that seemed to be OK... but then Capcom seems to have dropped the ball on publicity. They could have totally Japan Timed the hell out of this thing, but nooooooo~. It's possible the reason MMM isn't so popular is because most of the members here either don't like or don't care about most of the new MM games Capcom has been pushing out lately. That, and there actually hasn't been much interesting news for us besides. MM10 was a huge disappointment in my eyes and I feel it was pretty underwhelming to most of us as well. 90% of what we talk about here isn't really MM related, so on the off chance we do get a new member it's difficult for them to stay very long because of that, I think. Obviously not impossible because we have Slugkid here and that's cool, but it's been a while. Part of the reason we're not good at "advertising" is because MMM is like an apartment with just a bed and a desk, and someone threw the desk out. We have a forum... that's it. Hell, Rez's H site is more active and we actually talk about Megaman related garbage a lot there. The other, and I think much larger reason, is because deep in your brains somewhere there is a worry that if this place becomes any bigger it will lose that "small town feel". tl;dr We are assholes and we enjoy it. Title: Re: Let's try and liven up the MegaMan Matrix Post by: TheRedPriest on 27 October 2010, 17:04:32 Hell, Rez's H site is more active You take that back you damn dirty liar. It's as dead as Iris. That would make this place better by default. What with my magnetic personality and all. Haha. Heh. eheh. Abe's right: other sites have replaced message boards, or at least the role they used to play. Instead of going on the internet to meet weird people from other parts of the world, you go on Facebook and stalk your old schoolmates. At least that's what I do. But there will always be the group of people who don't like their local peers and will need a place to go and socialise, so I can't see message board communities dying out completely. I'm also not as self-absorbed on Facebook and in real life as I am on Matrix. Somehow that just became part of ... "Delta". e.g. this very conversation. Must be the blue checkers. My interest in real people is nil, hence my lack of Facebook... Maybe you should move to a real city and meet new people. I still use the initials as a handle sometimes, but that's it. I recall watching one of your acts. Something about not being able to smell? It was funny. Real people -are- pretty over-rated. Title: Re: Let's try and liven up the MegaMan Matrix Post by: Johncarllos on 22 May 2011, 01:33:11 I think Alec Robbins is a comic genius.
