As you all may have noticed, we've had a severe rash of Russian Spam bots descend upon us lately.  On the off chance anyone new joins that is a real person and Mega Man fan, please introduce yourself here and tell us a little about why you like Mega Man.

You don't (I think) need to be a member to browse the forums, so generally speaking accounts that sign up and don't post are Spam bots waiting to take a dump on the forums.  We'll see how this goes though.

Well, it's not a bot, at the very least.

I vote we give him/her a chance. After all, we have so many of us reminiscing about how this site helped make "us", that we should probably be open to that again. We'll probably be seeing an uptick in members when Mega Man 11 comes out.

With the ceaseless bot accounts being made it's going to be extremely difficult to moderate things if we start to see an influx of new, legit accounts.  I've just been auto banning every single new account because they've all just been bots (ip/email/name obviously bot/russian).

How are the bots getting past the captcha?
IS there a captcha?

Anyway LCrazy11, welcome to the forums. Though you'll want to fix your posting habits. Typing in proper English should be your first step but we'll work from there.

I don't know that there is a captcha, or if there is it's an old one that's easy for bots to fool/bypass.

Funny story my into to Megaman was a flash game about mmz zero going back in time called megaman zero alpha. Then I got a GBA and battle network and loved it

Interesting, any idea where this game is so we can check it out?

 I for one think Z was an A-OK game, not a masterpiece, but not MN9 either.  If anything it was an alright entry way for a new audience to check out MMX after playing Zello's series.

What I'm saying is though it wasn't a great game, it wasn't Megaman's answer to Shadow the Hedgehog (2005).


Anywho,  LLunatic77, Welcome to the Mboard.  My advice is to take some time really thinking about the messages you want to convey before you post them.  "What is it i'm trying to say,"  It'll help you come off as more thoughtful and it's not like we're moving at such a pace here where you're going to get washed out if you don't reply immediatey.

I think the problem with MMZ was it's art design and look-how-cool-zero-is-#####-X-amirite style story. The gameplay was rad but it kinda took some hefty dumps on the X series and I'll never forgive it for that.

I actually liked the art STYLE for most part but not the character DESIGN. i.e.: Zero's clothing, among other things, looked awful even though the artist was talented. The cutscenes looked great. I don't know why they couldn't just use the designs from the X series with the new art direction. Even when you see Zero's "old body" it looks nothing like in MMX. That said, some of the new characters had great design.

For example, I thought Elpizo, the guardians, the bosses, the Rainbow Devil, and the Pantheons were quite inspired. In fact, the Pantheon design specifically still comes into my thoughts these days when I work on stuff.

Besides, BN3 is inferior to 2 just on the Navi Customizer alone and having to swap your build to add the #####ing "compress" chip to move over 1 tile of tiny pipe all the damn time.  That and 2 had MUCH better Program Advances.  BN2 is best BN.

I started writing this post and had to look up when MMZ1 came out because I felt like my age had a lot to do with how I felt. MMZ1 came out over 14 years ago, I think I got it as a late 14th birthday gift because it came out about a week after mine. I was beyond elated that a new Megaman handheld came out because I loved X as a kid.

I LOVED the Zero series. I didn't see it's faults, all I saw was another MegaMan game that felt kind of like MMX. I wasn't good at videogames so I just spent my time grinding until I could beat it, and I loved it for that. I had a positive enough experience that I got 2 and 3 after it as well, and eventually ZX.

I haven't touched those games in well over 10 years now, but my nostalgia glasses are still on for them.

I even play the X series with L as dash because it got so ingrained to me on my GBA.

I got the DS collection at some point which really soured my view.  There's something just utterly obtuse about how Zero feels and how his stages are built.  I don't know how best to describe it outside of trying to play it again... which isn't happening.  It just felt... wrong.

I don't remember why I bailed on BN2.  It was either I didn't like the quickman fight or the game didn't have a charge buster.  The Wrrrtw of that year wasn't very smart, so the reasons probably weren't very valid to begin with

In BN1 and 2 you had to have 2 points in your Charge stat to use charge shots. That or get a Style Change.

As much as I love death I wouldn't want to kill any activity on MMM, but this thread is not so much the place (though every newbie is going to mention their favourite games and spark a debate here).

Though I can't figure out why, we do have a forum for discussing Mega Man Zero.  And as it happens we also have a lovely Battle Network forum (which is no mystery).

(I only like MMZ because nostalgia and it's fun but not 1 they turned zero into edgy out of character drivel then some dumb twist about clones I barely remember but my head cannon is that the zero from MMX died and both omega and zero are clones)
