For me, I dunno who my favourite Maverick is... I'd like to say Magma Dragoon simply because he has a little backstory (that and the English version accidentally calls him an "Irregular" XD) but I dunno... from the SNES games though, that Speed Ostrich (was it called that?) was awesome.

Dragoon does have a pretty cool history, to be honest. He's one of the very view Mavericks with a decent back-story. I remember something like Duff McWhalen being friends with Launch Octopus, too, but I'm not sure.

Ah yeah, Overdrive Ostrich. Sonicspeed Ostrich is his Japanese name or something...

Yeah, Mavericks need more backstory.

The X1 mavericks have backstory.

Penguin:  Was a member of the polar unit but grew bored of doing nothing and joined the rebellion for the lulz.  He doesn't seem to like X much.

Eagle:  A noble Maverick Hunter who tried to stop Sigma's planned but was defeated and forced to subordination (Most likely hostages were involved and there was nothing he could do.)  He wasn't proud of his actions and out right admitted he was maverick.

Mammoth:  A big reploid stationed at the desert region.  He is very violent and likes destruction.  He uses his size to look down on those smaller than him.  He used this opportunity to join the mavericks to show his power and prove he is the strongest.  Has issues with Chill Penguin for some reason.

Mandrill:  A maverick hunter who wasn't too bright.  He went with Sigma since he wasn't sure of what to do.  A dim bulb who is rather lazy but gets the job done.  Regardless he doesn't seem very enthusiastic in fighting.

Armadillo:  Loyal to a fault.  A model solder who followed Sigma's orders regardless if they were good or evil.   Since he follows orders and does whatever Sigma orders him, he felt his actions are not maverick since he was just following orders.

Octopus:  An arrogant and pompus reploid who perfers grace and style over brute force.  He joined to show off his grace and style.  Rather vain as well since "even his explosion is beautiful!"

Kwuanger:  A calm cool and collected reploid.  Joined the rebellion out of deciding which side would win.  He is very calm and uses logic in the battle field.  He also shows some respect to X as he commends him on his ability.  

Chamelion:  A reploid positioned in the recon base.  He is a brown noser.  He considers those below him as weak and worships those who are above him in power.  

Launch Octopus. He wins out if only for his "You're going down" intro animation.

Yeah, I loved that back then. He was so badass, even when fighting him.

... MHX took that away. Now he's an "artist".

Even his explosion is beautiful!

I liked Vile in X8. I didn't like that he had a weakness though.

He has a weakness in all the games actually.

X1 it is either Homing Missile or you could use the Boomerang Cutter.

In X3 the Spinning Blades or the Ray Splasher both work well.

It's just in X8, where he is weak to Ice he actually reacts like other bosses do. Look at his life in the two games before when you use those weapons, they do considerable damage.

Plus in X8 you can turn the tables on Vile and pwn him using the Cyclops Ride Armor on Bamboo Pandamonium's stage.

X1 it is either Homing Missile or you could use the Boomerang Cutter.

Rolling Shield, actually. Though 'Horming Torpedo' does three damage points (kills in 11 hits), Rolling Shield does four (kills in eight hits). Boomerang Cutter I haven't even tried; I would suppose it does either one or two points.

Ah. It's been a while since I've fought him, pardon my error. I alway usually just use either the missile or X buster on him.

Bit and Byte were pretty cool!

Yes, and plus he has the Street Fighter moves. I always found the whole description of Dragoon to be hilarious. "He betrayed the Irregular Hunter and hid himself in a volcano." LOL! A very awkward but straightforward explanation! He has to be my favorite stage boss (of the various 8 bosses). Wheel Gator also deserves to be mentioned, because if you really pay attention it looks like he's swimming in a pool of blood! I always thought it was being pumped into his chamber from all the victims he was killing in his attack on the city. Or maybe it's just my twisted imagination...

But of course my overall favorite is Double, because he seemed so harmless at first, but he taught those arrogant hunters a leson. I also thought it was funny how X put his complete trust in Double, even though he'd just met him (not to mention he has a rather suspicious name). X truly was naive, just like Double said.

X1: Storm Eagle - The only person to rival Zero as coolest machine ever.
X2: Bubble Crab - He's just so cute.
X3: Blast Hornet - Flies around and attacks you with it's own children.
X4: Magma Dragoon - Backstory and coolest personality.
X5: Squid Adler - He just looks awesome, really.
X6: Commander Yammark - With competition like Shield Sheldon, he was an easy winner.
X7: Splash Warfly - Again, not much competition.
X8: Gravity Antonion - Basically the same as Gravity Beetle, but in 3d.

I didn't see the Shun Goku Satsu (Raging Demon) or Ashura Senkuu. (Teleport thingy)

Man, that move rocked in XvSF. If Magma had it then you'd never beat him.

What about the mid-air Hadouken?

That one I'm unsure about, since Magma can use a giga attack where hundreds of fireballs come down at you diagonally. This reminds me a lot of one of Akuma's moves. IMO I believe thats his version of the Zanku hadoken.

It's not the same tho, since Magma launches a stream of fire into the sky before the fireballs rain down.

And the attack that looks like Shinku Hadoken comes from his mouth, they're all a bit different. But it's what I believe, nothing more.

I like magma dagoons flying kick thats awesome(and easy to dodge).

All of the moves are slightly diffrent, but obviously based on Ryu, Ken and Akuma.

They are pretty awesome, but he was kind of easy to defeat.

Double was a really obvious double-agent, but to be perfectly honest he wound up being kind of cool, if not a little random.

Still not as top-notch as Dynamo, though.

I dunno, I rank Double higher than Dynamo. Dynamo was too easy to beat, and his personality was sorta annoying.

I found Splash to be annoying because of X7's dodgy controls.
