there is no X-collection topic. lets whine about it here. Title: Re: The *ahem* collection Post by: NovaMan XP on 2 March 2008, 03:16:01 I heard the collection sucked and didn't end up having all the things it promised!
Title: Re: The *ahem* collection Post by: yuri on 2 March 2008, 03:16:47 I bought it just to play X1-3.
Title: Re: The *ahem* collection Post by: Someguy on 2 March 2008, 03:18:17 The X6 Japanese dubs were removed and Capcom was apparently gunna add an English dub, but that never happened, and they took out a word from X1 Sigma's sentence just so X could say "damn"
Title: Re: The *ahem* collection Post by: yuri on 2 March 2008, 03:19:54 I noticed that, do you mean when you kill him?
Title: Re: The *ahem* collection Post by: preventerWIND on 2 March 2008, 04:36:29 Yeah, they put in damn and took out a word from Sigma's final speech. So he says something like "why have done this to us!?"

Title: Re: The *ahem* collection Post by: yuri on 2 March 2008, 17:55:21 Yeah that's what I meant.
Title: Re: The *ahem* collection Post by: Rama Olendris on 3 March 2008, 21:15:30 I wasn't disappointed in the X collection, it had all the games I needed. I didn't see the real point in the extras though, all of it is just crappy sound mixes and (some) cool pictures that you can rip from the internet. That's one thing I didn't really like but everything else. Cool.
I must admit, the Battle and Chase game is fun to play with friends. Title: Re: The *ahem* collection Post by: Mikero on 3 March 2008, 23:13:04 I never had any of the X games though I'd played almost all of them, so I bought it. It's not great, but it's passable.
Title: Re: The *ahem* collection Post by: Fatso on 4 March 2008, 03:18:14 Mega Man X is my most-played game of all time (over 2000 hours IIRC), and I felt it appropriate to pick up another release of this best-game-evar competitor. I would get MHX as well, but that would entail getting a (*blurgh*) PSP.
I like the fact that slowdown has been eliminated as well as the 8-channel sound limitation on the SNES games. I dislike that they used the PSX version of X3, as well as the lacklustre extras (I mean, they didn't even put Mega Man Soccer on! ZOMFGZ) Title: Re: The *ahem* collection Post by: Chron on 4 March 2008, 03:35:04 I have the collection.
I'm not sure why. I do like the Saturn version of X3, though. Nice music and all. Could have done without X5 and X6. Title: Re: The *ahem* collection Post by: Mikero on 4 March 2008, 04:16:23 I dislike that they used the PSX version of X3, as well as the lacklustre extras (I mean, they didn't even put Mega Man Soccer on! ZOMFGZ) Why should MM Soccer be on the X collection? It's odd enough BnC was there. Title: Re: The *ahem* collection Post by: Fatso on 4 March 2008, 04:24:33 They were just sweeping through the non-canon games anyway, why not throw it in?
Title: Re: The *ahem* collection Post by: Mikero on 4 March 2008, 04:27:34 They chose what was previously unavailable in the west. BnC and MM Soccer should've been part of MMAC.
Title: Re: The *ahem* collection Post by: Fatso on 4 March 2008, 04:29:08 Then they would have irreversibly switched the 'Pass' and 'Shoot' buttons, and probably put the 'Clear Kick' button somewhere not even on the controller!
Title: Re: The *ahem* collection Post by: Mikero on 4 March 2008, 04:31:35 Irrelevant!
Title: Re: The *ahem* collection Post by: TheRedPriest on 4 March 2008, 16:30:38 Passable is a sad state of acceptability. Bootleg "computer program of dubious legality"s and roms play the games better than a product from an official branch of Capcom itself. Am I the only one who is utterly offended and enraged by this fact?
You could ALMOST forgive Capcom for farming out MMAC to a group of underqualified hacks who evidently have a day job poking holes in juice cups for slightly less mentally handicapped manchildren than they are that then go home and bang their drool encrusted faces into a keyboard for 5 minutes a night and call it work on the code/programming for the single biggest disappointment in compilation history. But MMXC was all Capcom. No excuses save for CoJ and Inafune being at BEST grossly incompetent and at worst complete dicks. I pity people who don't have the SNES carts or PS1 discs, because this POS compilation is a travesty. Like watching Superman fight crime when he's 90 with Kryptonite cancer and 1 leg and a moth eaten costume. Title: Re: The *ahem* collection Post by: ChaosVortex on 5 March 2008, 00:26:20 Capcom: Guys... we're sorry about MMAC. To make it up to you, we've added a BUNCH of extra content that I'm sure you will enjoy.
Fans: YEAAH! Inafune: Wait! What's this!? NO MUSIC. NO VOICES. FOX ONLY. FINAL DESTINATION! Title: Re: The *ahem* collection Post by: preventerWIND on 5 March 2008, 00:30:59 I expected that.
And lol'd. Title: Re: The *ahem* collection Post by: Mikero on 6 March 2008, 05:11:49 Passable is a sad state of acceptability. Bootleg "computer program of dubious legality"s and roms play the games better than a product from an official branch of Capcom itself. Am I the only one who is utterly offended and enraged by this fact? Nope. MMX is actually fun when it's not played on MMXC, which is essentially a headache on a disc. Title: Re: The *ahem* collection Post by: yuri on 6 March 2008, 19:42:21 Is their really a difference I have played both it is practically the same thing.

That OTHER song by Sir Mix-A-Lot, much less successful. Title: Re: The *ahem* collection Post by: Orange Devil on 23 March 2008, 16:13:01 I've read your complaints, and I still don't understand what is bad about it. The controller? Come on. You have to contort your fingers to play an SNES Megaman X game anyway, it's pretty much the same. And you can change the controls to suit your fingers... which actually made "constantly holding the dash button" easier. So frankly, I liked the controls.
And how much was it? 20 bucks? Compared to the amount that you would shell out on the origional X, X2, X3, X4, X5, X6, and Megaman Racing games, I would say that's a bargain. I loved it, still do. Title: Re: The *ahem* collection Post by: Fatso on 23 March 2008, 18:55:44 You could remap the controls in the original releases too. Additionally, I don't know what you're talking about - SNES controller is more comfortable by far in my hands than PSX/PS2/GCN controller.
One more gripe that I forgot to throw in there - I suspect they used recordings instead of an actual reproduction of the SPC, because fadeouts got nuked. Title: Re: The *ahem* collection Post by: Johncarllos on 23 March 2008, 19:52:29 I just killed X1 in a matter of 55 minutes.
<3 the SNES controller. Title: Re: The *ahem* collection Post by: Orange Devil on 23 March 2008, 19:53:12 Oh, come on. You aren't extreme if you can't press "Jump" "Dash" and "Shoot" all at the same time. Am I really the only one who does this?
I know, the picture is backwards. Sue me, Scilon. Title: Re: The *ahem* collection Post by: Johncarllos on 23 March 2008, 19:59:11 You're funny, I just switch dash to "L."
Title: Re: The *ahem* collection Post by: Orange Devil on 23 March 2008, 20:15:04 L is for Laaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa aaame.
I use L for switching weapons back and forth. I've been doing that for like... 13 years. Title: Re: The *ahem* collection Post by: Fatso on 23 March 2008, 20:53:47 I just killed X1 in a matter of 55 minutes. Only 21 minutes to go 'till you beat SDA's record, and 18 'till you beat mine :D I dash with R, unfortunately the hinge for the button is broken so I'll have to file my L button down to make it fit in the R button slot. Title: Re: The *ahem* collection Post by: Orange Devil on 23 March 2008, 21:35:26 Haha, now THAT is hardcore. The things we do with out SNES controllers...
I have Mortal Kombat fatalities carved into the back of mine from when I was younger. I origionally wrote them with a sharpie, but I wore that off from playing too much. Title: Re: The *ahem* collection Post by: Johncarllos on 24 March 2008, 00:43:45 I just killed X1 in a matter of 55 minutes. My best is 43 I think. I might be as long as 46. I'm content where I am at it though. Title: Re: The *ahem* collection Post by: Fatso on 24 March 2008, 03:19:50 The only way to make the run any faster than about 40 minutes is to cut out all the items anyway, which makes for some frustrating deaths at random-ish times.
Title: Re: The *ahem* collection Post by: NovaMan XP on 24 March 2008, 03:24:00 And deaths only waste more time. So you'll have to be doing your best or you're gonna ##### up at the end and smash something in anger...
Title: Re: The *ahem* collection Post by: ChaosVortex on 24 March 2008, 03:28:50 I've only switched L to dash when I have the GCN controller. With the SNES, I don't change a thing. A to dash. B to jump. Y to shoot. I can press A, B, and Y all at once too. The great thing about SNES too, is I can press two of those buttons without interferrance with another.
EDIT: Then again, my fingers have gotten bigger. ._.; Title: Re: The *ahem* collection Post by: Kayauts on 2 April 2008, 02:35:47 Wait, how is this any harder with a PS2 controller?
Title: Re: The *ahem* collection Post by: ChaosVortex on 2 April 2008, 16:30:38 With the original button configuration, it's horrid on the GCN version. If you want to just press the B and X button with one finger and NOTHING else, you can't. The huge craptastic A button is in the way. In order to play well, you have to handicap yourself by changing the button configuration.
Of course, the X Collection features games that were on the Playstation and SNES platforms, and the PS2 controller has the same (if not similar) controller button pattern as the Playstation and SNES. The GCN controller is actually the worst Nintendo controller I've ever seen. Title: Re: The *ahem* collection Post by: Mikero on 2 April 2008, 18:01:16 I use the tip of my thumb for B and the front knuckle of it for X/Y/A. It's annoying but you can manage.
Title: Re: The *ahem* collection Post by: Abominator on 2 April 2008, 18:31:09 Title: Re: The *ahem* collection Post by: Mikero on 2 April 2008, 18:36:19 Thank you.
I really hate that. It's not called a "Gamecube Nintendo". Title: Re: The *ahem* collection Post by: ChaosVortex on 2 April 2008, 18:39:10 I was actually thinking about how much you said you hated that when I typed that.
In fact, we had this discussion before on the old board. It's shortened to GCN for whatever reason. Title: Re: The *ahem* collection Post by: Orange Devil on 2 April 2008, 18:48:33 Thank you. Are you really arguing that or just saying that you don't like it? Because I'm pretty sure that's what it's techincally called. Title: Re: The *ahem* collection Post by: Mikero on 2 April 2008, 18:54:51 I'm saying that I don't like it. It's called a Nintendo Gamecube but the official shortening of it "GCN" even though that is beyond stupid. If I went around saying I got a game for my "Gamecube Nintendo" I'd be such a jackass.
Title: Re: The *ahem* collection Post by: NovaMan XP on 2 April 2008, 23:07:11 I just call it a GC Controller.
Title: Re: The *ahem* collection Post by: Kayauts on 3 April 2008, 00:27:00 I just call it a GC Controller. Thank god, I was waiting for somebody to say that Title: Re: The *ahem* collection Post by: ChaosVortex on 3 April 2008, 05:22:19 Wow. There shouldn't be anyone having a heart attack over a single letter. They both mean the same thing and I don't care. I just have a habit of using the proper shorterned version of stuff.
Title: Re: The *ahem* collection Post by: Majikn on 3 April 2008, 05:36:02 "Wiimote" annoys me more, but I've never been the type to argue about it. You can say GC or GCN, either way, I'll know what you mean.
Though, no one's having a heart attack in the first place. A few people rightfully don't agree with the use of "GCN" but I don't think anyone REALLY cares about the one letter difference. It's just stupid, that's all. (Anyway I bought the X Collection and enjoyed it despite its flaws) Title: Re: The *ahem* collection Post by: ASR on 3 April 2008, 06:17:18 What the heck is wrong with "Wiimote?"
Title: Re: The *ahem* collection Post by: Majikn on 3 April 2008, 06:27:51 Nothing that I care to argue. It's not like I've been uppity about people saying it, anyway. Call it what you want.
Title: Re: The *ahem* collection Post by: Kayauts on 3 April 2008, 07:26:17 Unfortunately just the name "Wiimote" is enough for a thousand distasteful jokes.
Title: Re: The *ahem* collection Post by: ASR on 3 April 2008, 11:47:39 Well, so is just "Wii", but I like Majikn's idea of not pursuing this argument.
I've honestly never had any problems with the X Collection, especially since you can edit your controls in each game. Title: Re: The *ahem* collection Post by: ChaosVortex on 3 April 2008, 16:56:11 Exactly. That was one of my main concerns when they were making it. If you couldn't change the controls, then I wasn't going to buy the GCN version.
Still disappointing there weren't as many extras that were promised, but whatever. I paid $30. That's about right, I suppose. Title: Re: The *ahem* collection Post by: Orange Devil on 3 April 2008, 23:50:27 Did anyone unlock Megaman Racing? I still haven't.
Title: Re: The *ahem* collection Post by: ASR on 3 April 2008, 23:52:09 You mean Battle & Chase? Of course. Nothing special.
Title: Re: The *ahem* collection Post by: preventerWIND on 4 April 2008, 00:00:06 It's horrible. I took more joy in unlocking the images and junk.
Title: Re: The *ahem* collection Post by: Abominator on 4 April 2008, 01:34:36 GCN for GameCube is like PSX for PlayStation: Incorrect.
Wiimote is slang, and acceptable. Title: Re: The *ahem* collection Post by: ASR on 4 April 2008, 01:59:12 When the term "Wiimote" was first used mainstream, I found it to be pretty clever, and you don't really sound like an asshole by saying it, so I've continued to use it.
Title: Re: The *ahem* collection Post by: Majikn on 4 April 2008, 02:12:00 At the very least, I'll take into account that you aren't just saying it to be "mainstream," then. It's a personal thing, I guess. Sort of like how I hate using the word "hot" to describe women. It's not a "dare to be different" sort of thing, it's more of a "I just can't take myself seriously when saying that" sort of thing.
Title: Re: The *ahem* collection Post by: ASR on 4 April 2008, 02:52:10 I hate saying "hot" because it just sounds stupid and brainless. "You're hot" is something a confused preteen tells every girl that gives him attention.
Title: Re: The *ahem* collection Post by: ChaosVortex on 4 April 2008, 04:38:59 GCN for GameCube is like PSX for PlayStation: Incorrect. I try not to use "PSX", because although I forgot the original abbreviations, I'm pretty sure it's PS1. But it's a fact that GCN is Gamecube. If you've got it, you should have the GCN trophy in your Smash Bros. Melee memory. I thought the same thing, "Why?", but shrugged it off.
