It's alright.
It's not as super amazing as I thought it would be. For instance, everything is a lot slower than it was in melee, and if you try to do a quick turn and be agile, you can trip.

I forgot about this. I checked my wallet after remembering I got "store credit" for returning Sonic and the Secret Rings at the Flea Market. It's $30 worth. I could easily nab a VC controller at the flea market, an SD card, and maybe Brawl if I don't get it this week.

I've been playing it all day at my friend's. I like it a lot even if it's just a Melee upgrade more than a full on sequel. But I'm glad it's not too different, that could suck ass.

When I get mine you guys better watch out. I don't think I'm the best or even one of the best but I'm one of the two [equally] best in my group of friends that I have been playing with since the first game, and I'm the best in all my other friend groups. I'm sure someone here is better than me-Naturally, I'm not trying to act all big.

Unlocked everyone but Jigglypuff.

Got everyone but Toon Link and Wolf.

I've unlocked everybody but Jigglypuff, just like Lunche.

I find that oddly poetic, since she's usually the first you unlock in both earlier games.

SSE was a treat, but that last level was too tedious.

All in all, this game is amazing beyond belief. I love the slightly slower physics.

I'm rockin' the house with Yoshi, Bowser, and Wario. Not too good with Wario yet, though. I'm gettin' there.

I just need to beat Classic mode with five more characters to get Jiggly Puff.

And that last level is infuriating, until you figure out the map is actually useful.

I finally found out how to get Jiggly. A friend told me today she's hidden in an SSE level, forgot which one, but I'll ask again later today.

Still trying to get my WFC to work. I can't wait to pwn all of you guys. Who do you all play as? I'm obsessed with Pit.

That is incredible lame. Even though you're not interested in the game I suggest you try one of them, it's not really the same watching it as it is playing it.

Not to mention the CPUs are designed to fight people.

I remember when I was trying to unlock Mewtwo (I think) in Melee, I just picked an infinite lives and time fight in VS mode and kept the game running for 24-hours. Very helpful when you have to go to school, just leave a note saying not to turn it off.

When I get the game, I'm just going to have fun first before I think about unlocking stuff.

I finally found out how to get Jiggly. A friend told me today she's hidden in an SSE level, forgot which one, but I'll ask again later today.

Or you can beat Classic Mode with ten different characters.

Toon Link is hidden in the forest, after you beat SSE. It's a little ways in, and there's a plat form with a door floating above it.

Wolf is in the Ruins level, when you go down that platform, avoiuding the spikes, near the bottom to the left, is a floating door, enter it, and you'll fight Wolf.

About getting Brawl, I'm being told there is a very small chance, while others tell me they practically waltz'd into other stores and just nabbed the game. My mom asked for the game at Wal-Mart (Why of all places is beyond me) and the guy said that she'd have to wait for the 2nd shipment which comes in about three weeks.

With everyone spamming the WFC with net games, I haven't been able to maintain my connection for more than three or four minutes. I'll try again tomorrow.

So I got my wiinternet working but I can't connect once I'm on Smash Bros. I used to get an error code, but last time it just froze. The little zig-zaggy loading pez candy stopped right in the middle and I had to turn the system off.

This is why we harass you about pre-ordering. The number of copies any store gets it based on the number of reservations for it. If there's only one reserve, we'll only get one other copy. If there's 80 some reserves, we'll get 10 extra copies. If we don't just casually suggest you reserve something, but rather, we strongly recommend, it's likely because we know there won't be enough to go around.

Besides, it's not like it costs you anything extra.

Toon Link is fine. But, you know who's really overpowered?

I didn't know Stickers DID anything.

You can figure out what each sticker does when you into the menu thing for it. If you have an Arm Attack +5 and an Arm Attack +10, though, you only get +10.

Also, Sano, I doubt anyone here really cares about spoilers at this point, but you might want to hide that, just in case. Anyway, it's just that he seems quite fast and I was kind of kicking ass with him, which is odd, considering when I use anyone else I'm not really all that good.

The strongest fighter doesn't always win, you have to be smart to survive.

As long as you're careful with how often you use one particular special move. In Melee I'm pretty sure all you got for doing that was a "Stale Moves" award or something, but I recall reading in the Dojo that in Brawl, your moves are weakened if you spam them.

I'm laughing at Lunche right now for both the brawl against Sano and the sticker bit, especially since the whole "Lucario, Ness, and Jigglypuff leak". Also, I intentionally run away, jump up and down, and spam Fox's laser to get people either annoyed or to get them over here. It's better than taunting for me.

But that's my only real spam strategy. I'm not going to judge him properly yet, since I've yet to fight Sano, but he sounds like a pansy...

When I want to annoy people, I do it with skill. That just pisses them off more.

I use Shiek and play "You can't touch me!" for minutes on end. Although, it was easier in Melee, because the air dodge didn't suck.

I was raping Sano when he disconnected last night.

I was Yoshi, and right before he disconnected, I cracked open a Smash Ball with Yoshi's Up+B egg throw from far away. I was falling off the course, but then I used the Final Smash to fly and save myself. Then he disconnected. So it was very bittersweet.

I demand a rematch, Sano. I will destroy you.

Ok, this is what happened. With the three player match I found that I was still slightly laggy... the controller inputs are off by at least two miliseconds. I thought it was because I was using the classic controller, being wireless and all. So I tried sticking in another controller... and the screen beeped.

So... next thing I knew... The game registered the controller as a fourth player instead of disconnecting me. I pulled the controller out but it didn't work. Then I realized, "O_O. Two friends can use the same Wii and play against other friends online!"

The only other person in the room was my sister, so I told her to play so that there wouldn't be a fourth person standing around and doing nothing. So she picked Olimar but didn't change her name so thats why she stayed as "VRock."

Then my friend came in during our match. Told him to play the next one. He chose Link and changed the name to the one he uses: Birdy. Then we had a match and I won.

So... yeah. New revelation: More than one person can go online on one Wii.

When you play through SSE, you'll unlock every character except for Toon Link, Wolf, and Jigglypuff.

After you beat SSE, you can find the characters here:

Toon Link is in the forest, near the beginning, in a door floating above a platform.

Wolf is in the Ruins, in the second part of the stage, when you get on that platform, and avoid those spikes, it will be a floating door near the bottom.


Jiggly Puff is in the third part of the Swamp area, after you fight giant evil Diddy Kong, in a floating door, near the cannons that shoot you to more more cannons, etc.

Beware, as the 3 secret characters (Wolf, Jigglypuff, Toon Link) can be alot harder than alot of the CPUs you fight in SSE, so fight at your best, or else you'll be redoing the stages again.

I'd say Sano is pretty equal to me - we beat each other equal amounts of times. As in, during our one-on-one matches, it was pretty much I win, he wins, I win, he wins.

I'd like to point out, that for the first three matches, the first two of which I won, I was on the phone with a friend crying to me about how her ex-boyfriend doesn't notice her anymore.

So yeah, I have a suggestion for everyone. Use Snake's codec. It gave me a good lawl a couple of times.

Oh yeah, the way to use Snake's codec is to continuesly press the down taunt button over and over, eventually you'll get him to crouch down and use his codec. Oh yeah, you have to be at Shadow Mosses and stuff. It's fun though.

I think it's called the codec, I've never played any MGS games so I wouldn't know, as cool as they look I've never gotten the chance to play one.

Oh yeah, then try the same thing with using Fox, Wolf, and Falco on Lylat cruise, that's pretty fun too.

I tried to get in and it wouldn't let me. I was pissed! I was imagining all of the fun. I joined, and sat in the waiting room for the entire match while it said you guys were "Brawling". Then I tried again and it said that I couldn't join because one of my friends changed their status. Whatever that means.

Still lagging like mad, does anyone know how to fix that? I have a good connection.

What I did was upgrade my Router's firmware.  Then it worked like a charm.

What I did was I went to the website for my router that being Netgear and looked it up.  Make sure the model number is present.

Just for reference:

Sano uses mainly Lucario, Wolf, and Kirby.
Xero uses mainly Jigglypuff.
Nova uses mainly Falco and Captain Falcon.
ASR uses mainly Yoshi, Bowser, and DeDeDe.

FEEL FREE TO ADD

I'm very good and versatile with Yoshi and Bowser.

OD uses: Zelda, Pit, Samus, Zero Suit Samus, Pikachu, Wario, DK, and endless others.

You guys will all be bored of this by the time it's out here.

That's debatable. Most people I know still played Melee regularly right up until Brawl came out here, so I'm sure Brawl will last quite a long time. Especially when you throw in the online stuff.

We had a wireless router/gateway, it died today, we're using the regular modem we have, and I'm trying to run the Wii through my computer that way.

Connection may be slower, connection may not work.

I can't to get the Wii to see my computer.

Upgraded firmware (In a long, painful process in which I had to connect to my neighboors internet from my laptop).

Still iffy on the connection. Sometimes I just randomly can't connect. We will see how it affects the lag.

I went through that whole huge process, and it WORKED. And now it doesn't.

I fought Lunchebox and  it was a very good match.  I won but barely.  I also sent some replay data to you guys.

Xero, do you have any other tips on making my internet not suck? You saw, it worked like a charm for that one match.

I promise you I am not the lag problem. I've yet to experience any major lag except for BOTH times you joined a match with me.

Other times is with a friend across town, but he has a crappy connection.

Unlocked them all. Hammer'd Jigglypuff. Beatdown Toon Link, and I luckly got Wolf on the first try. I landmaster'd him.

I beat them all pretty easily... 'course, I was on normal.

I used Sonic for both Jigs and Wolf. At first Wolf was beating me up, I soon started beating his ass and I easily won.

I used Snake for Toon Link.

I had to fight wolf like 5 times, just because I kept dying on weird flukes.

So I secretly joined a match with Zool (whoever that is >_>) and Majikn. I think I won that match. Then I had a one-on-one with Majikn and lost. Another battle with Majikn and Snare and got third. Then the three of us had one more match and I won again. Saved that match on an SD card, BTW. Left because I'm about to go to bed.

Though, the only reason I won those two matches were because of when I got the Smash ball... I don't think that's fair.

But anyway, does anyone feel that very slight lag? It's very slight but soooo annoying. It's not even screen lag, it's controller lag. Just want to know if it's just me or if anyone else is feeling it.

I have a bunch of random things to say in this post:

Zool, I'm 100% sure, is Fatso. Purely because he, like me, mains Luigi. I DID use Pikachu and Lucas as well later on, though. Man, he destroyed me in the first bit of games we played.

Snare and I had some cool fights. I'm pretty sure I won one match against VRock, but he wasn't playing as his main, I don't think.

And then after that it was just Snare and I, and he's good with Zelda.

There is a tiny bit of lag, but it's consistent lag. You learn to compensate for it.

I think I play too offensively. I rarely dodge/defend unless I remind myself to do so, and it's not a reflexive or instinctive thing that I do. And I don't always use my character's moves to their full extent.

I'm glad that they gave Pikachu a green headband. They took away Jigglypuff's, I wasn't happy about that.

Jigglypuff needs her green headband, SHE IS THE FIGHTER JIGGLYPUFF AND CANNOT BE VANQUISHED.

Smash Balls and the Dragoon are the end of me.

I don't care what everyone else thinks, I'm pretty damn sure Jigglypuff is male.

It's easy to dodge the Dragoon.  Just air dodge when it's by you. 

Pikachu stole the green headband and made it superbadass.

If I'm playing Jigglypuff I usually wear the bow or the flower, just to make their defeat extra painful. Giving jigglypuff a headband is like putting  a midget in the NBA.

It's easy to dodge the Dragoon.  Just air dodge when it's by you. 

It's not that simple. You have to KNOW when the person's going to fire. They don't always fire right away.

Actually, it's rather easy to dodge. It's got a rather distinct range and if you're not in it, it misses. It's rather small as well.

I've only been hit by someone else with the Dragoon once, but I've personally only missed once when I used it.

I just made some killer stages. One is called The Tree of Life, and it's just a huge tree and everyone has to fight around it. I made that one a little bit ago, and it's proven to be fun.

The other three I just made: all Smash 64 remixes. I recreated Saffron City, Hyrule Castle, and Peach's Castle from SSB64 with a few new twists.

They're all really fun, I'm proud of them.

I get that it's a good game, if it is just Melee 2. What I don't get is how you guys are even AVAILABLE to play that much. Although I guess I had such time when I was in high school.

And Snake (who I'm best with) is the only other third party character. I don't even use his Down B and and Smash Down A attacks very often (the bomb planting ones). Hell, when I get the Smash Ball as Snake I usually try to miss because I dislike winning due to Final Smashes.

I tried fighting but then Lunche "No Contest"'d me.

Xero beat me twice, one of the matches he waited for time to run out. I didn't know I could change the rules though, so I did.

The 3rd match, by the time I got the 2nd Smash Ball, Xero started... committing suicide...

I've been playing with a bunch of friends across town as Wario. I'm getting much, much better with him, and I'm adding him to my list of mains.

Wario is good fun. I like to use him at random but I'm not very good with him. I bet if I wanted to, though, I could get better.

There's either lag or there isn't. There's no delay otherwise.

If someone has a bad connection, it will be CHOPPY. That's lag. Lag isn't a delay in button controls and their responses, it's a delay in EVERYTHING, including animation and gameplay.

The game never goes into slow motion or whatever you're trying to say it's like.

When there's no lag, it plays the same as it would if you were right next to someone on the same console. When there is lag, it sucks horribly and everyone's timing is messed up and it's inferior.

Lag rarely happens to me, and if it does, it's for very short periods of time, or it's blaringly annoying so I quit, usually with OD.

I DO feel a delay, just like Chaos says. It's very minimal and was annoying at first, but now I barely notice it. The game just feels a lot smoother when playing offline than online.

I can't say I don't notice a difference, because I do when there IS one. But usually there isn't. Nevermind.

When you think about all the moves each character has, and you narrow it down to the most effective ones (that people spam), some characters just have more.
Captain Falcon's entire moveset is pretty powerful, while Olimar has maybe 5 really effective attacks (as far as I can tell).

Link is actually getting a bit boring for me, I know how and when to use his moves now, so I'm mixing it up, Zero Suit Samus is new to me, but she also is very limited.

Olimar is one of the strongest there is, but he's very hard to master. There's so many variables and things to think about at once that it's a bit overwhelming for me and I'll tackle him later. He's definitely one of the strongest out there, though. He'll be at the top of those stupid tier lists, trust me.

Every time I got it with him, I was able to charge someone and punch their face off the side of the screen and then hunt down and sometimes kill the other guy (we were playing 3 player most of the day) and knock him when he's in the air or something. That first strike has to be instant before they can react appropriately.

I seriously hate how cheap you are Vinni.
You always use Sonic and then just spam his moves that make him invulnerable, you never leave any chance to be hit. That's really unfair.
Also, you almost always use a 3rd party character, and it's extremely obvious that their strength is far greater than that of all the 1st party characters.

I don't like playing with the Smash Ball, since everyone STOPS WHAT THEY'RE doing, and goes after it.

Even though most Final smashes are kind of lame.

In my experience we pretty much fought normally, except the fight would move a lot more as we'd hit each other away from it while going for it. It's not like we stopped hitting each other to get it.

Sano hasn't used Kirby in ages since I played against him.

Peach's final smash is lame, hell, just pull out a bomb with link right before she activates, or down smash with Snake, or something.
The peaches will heal any damage you get from it.

With WarioMan/Super Wario just try make sure to metally screencap the place when you go into the transformation and then while he's transforming hold the button/stick/whatever in the direction of someone who's on your ground level so you'll run at them right away before they can react. I always kill someone within a second after activating his final smash by doing that.

We all try to get the Smash Ball but we don't stop fighting it out. The fight just moves and centers around the ball.

I generally do 3 stock matches but 5 is cool.

Just saying this, I'll probably won't be playing much online. I hate the choppy connection. I'll only really enjoy the game if the connection is perfect.

In Brawl, the attack is supposed to weaken if you spam it. I don't see why it should continue to do damage up to 100% if you're just constantly pressing A.

It's a fan. And the least it will do is 1% damage if its spammed I guess, but it still makes it impossible to avoid if you mash A.

That would explain why that one event with Lucario and his special abilities starts him off with 175% instead of 200%.

Also, you can select which Pokemon you are going to use with the trainer by clicking on it in the picture, just like Zelda and Shiek. When selected, it is outlined in white.

Still, it's something at least. But they seriously needed more options. I think it's obvious they make a simple Stage Builder to make people think "OMG I R MAK TEH ULTIMATE STAGE" and then we find out how limited it is.

...You can't even put spikes on the #####ing ceiling! And there's only so much you can put in a stage, even on the largest stage option.

There's never not going to be "only so much" you can put in a stage. It's the same with Tony Hawk skatepark creators. They have to do that so the stages don't exceed a certain memory block size.

Really, the only thing that I consider to be cheap is fanspamming. Simply because I don't think that it was intended to be that way.

It's just as easy to get out of a fan-spam in Brawl as it is in Melee. If you can't get out of it by timing an airdodge or shielding or an attack that would cancel it, you're simply not trying.

I have four things I currently find "cheap" (or rather, just annoying and gay and crap, because they aren't entirely "cheap") that I see online often.

-Spamming the same move over and over (ex: Kirby's up sword thing, Pikachu's thunder (down), Sonic's spinning crap).
-Running away every two seconds.
-Picking the same character over. And over. And over. And never changing ("maining" is so boring).
-Waiting around for other people to kill each other.

You have it backwards, it takes more points to send videos, so you can ONLY send so many. The point scale is different.

When you send files, there's some dumbass points system on how many files you can send to how many people.

EDIT: I just want to know the limit so I know how close I am. Last night, when I checked the internet, it said there were 258 CDs in the game, and I had 253. I went ahead and grabbed the last five.

With a little custom stage building, a sandbag factory makes CD and sticker nabbing easy.

EDIT2: Oh yeah. Since I've got all the CDs, I won't intentionally nab any when playing online. If I accidentally grab one while one of you guys don't have all the songs, I'd like to make this post an apology in advance.

I DUNNO LOL. Me throwing the capsule in the air, you in the air, the karts hitting you, the capsule being a bomb. All delicious.

And that brawl on Spear Pillar was EPIC. I was laughing so hard. When you got the 2nd Smash Ball, I yelled "NOT AGAIN!". And then all the fans appeared. Ice Climbers + Fan Spam = LOLTASTIC. The ending was so down to the wire too. That was fun.

And yeah. I suck with Dedede...

The ending for the Spear Pillar battle made me yell "DAMMIT!" at the end, cuz I got the shorter death... while you were flying in the background for 10 seconds... xD

I've confirmed my stance that playing with strangers can be kind of fun but is incredibly stupid and a waste of time. Also they just spam one attack all day anyway.

I've never disconnected on my Wii like that, hm. No one disced from the games I played but we had one in Porky's town where some Wario just #####ed off and hung around at the top right while we fought down where that breakable bridge is after he got a kill. That is, until I went up and started chasing him around the map. But he still won because the rest of us still kept killing each other.

In another one some guy locked me in getting hit by Sheik with punches or something for nearly 10 full seconds and the other two players just sort of... watched. In the end I won that match anyway in Sudden Death, it was all four of us. I killed that Sheik first then the other guy and then it was Player 2 as Wolf and I as Fox and we dodged each others attacks but good for a sec and then I dodged one an smashed him the ##### out of Hyrule Temple.

I tried Sonic on the first try. Best thing to do is just to kill them off until they stop respawning and you have only two to deal with.

Then you just run and jump back and forth until time runs out.

Boss Battles is Tabuu (Wings) tophy and all Final Smash trophies is the Plusle & Minun trophy.

It's around that time that I sent you (and others) that replay of me playing as Bowser, fan cycling, then totally getting screwed over by a random Bob-omb.

I also have one with me as Wario, where I totally killed myself by farting at the highest platform. It sucks, and I believe Xero fell for that in a match against me as well.

Thanks to that vid though of Bowser I managed to beat 100-Man brawl in under 3 min 30 seconds, so I got the two challenges unlocked for that...

3500 man brawl is gonna take a while... but spamming Up tilts are a good strategy for most characters.

By the way, I knew I was going to regret it, but I was a total idiot with the golden hammers.

I wasted ALL of mine on easy to get stuff I thought I'd never accomplish, like All-Star on Intense, and challenges that had Golden Hammers in them... I thought there'd be more than 5. -_-;

And the Bowser video served two purposes. To inform the method of fan cycling in multi-man brawl, and of course, to show how much of a rip I got.

Well since I'd figured out the fan trick on my own I assumed everybody did, and didn't know what I was supposed to be taking out of that.

When my friend came over, we decided to play as Sonic with the bunny hood on Big Blue. I've sent that as well, so those are the crappiest replays I've sent (Unless I've forgotten one). I've got others, but they're even crappier so I don't feel the need to send them unless requested.

They just had a small point to them, although I'm pretty sure everyone already thought about doing the Big Blue thing.

I'll send one sometime if I have it. An online fight I played to Sudden Death. The actual fight isn't all that interesting I think, other than when Sheik dicks me over and some Marth or Ike or something just stands there like an asshole, but it's classic Smash Bros. intense at the end when someone playing Wolf and I as Fox keep dodging each other.

Use WarioMan and the Wario Bike on Big Blue.

If anyone cares, there's some good strategies to getting these trophies. For 50-100 hours, you can leave on your Wii in an infinite time brawl match and unplug the controller. I'm doing that now for the last 10 hours I need to earn for that stupid trophy.

I did the"jump through walls" glitch in a custom stage where the inclosed room didn't have anything to stand on but spikes, so you constantly took damage with nowhere to go. I did that, with a 60 minute Team-Coin match. Have both characters get stuck in that room. Coins will fly everywhere and you'll collect just about all of them. Unplug the controllers (or turn off the rumble feature), turn off the TV, and come back in an hour (or whatever), and you'll easily get one of the challenge trophies.

There's a lot of tricks you can do with a little customized stage.

I already did the coins challenges, just did a cage match with my cousin and it was fun. We also only had Pokeballs on, trying to get Mew to appear...

I will eventually do the "Leave your Wii on" thing when I get all the CDs. I don't like leaving my Wii on in a brawl thinking "Oh ##### how many CDs am I gonna miss doing that? TEH HORROR"

I think I mentioned it before, but although a bit boring, it works.

Make a conveyor belt stage where all the belts move into the middle, with a random block somewhere out of the way. Have a 2-player Brawl with a 1-3 life stock match, one of them as Kirby. Set items to HIGH, but turn all of them off except for Sandbags. Play the stage, and have the controller player who's not Kirby go to that random block and sit there. Have Kirby sit on the conveyor belts, and spam your up+B on every sandbag until you get bored. Collect all the stickers and CDs that fall out.

Lots of stickers pop out, and you get a CD once about every three to five minutes.

EDIT: Also, where can I find the Brawl soundtrack?

Sorry about that Xero. The first moments I was away, I was contacting my friend "NOVA". The 2nd time, I had to end the match because my parents wanted me to do work.

Anyway, my friend is wanting other people on his friend roster. He only has me at the moment (and maybe Xero). If you see NOVA join any of your fights and he asks to be a friend, accept.

Everytime me and NOVA fight, it lags so bad and his is apparently green.

All you mothertruckers have like orange and red connections.

So does everyone on my friend list.

Most of you guys are like green and yellow, save for Sano cause he's far away.

Strange, even then, my fights with Sano didn't lag as much as it did today.

Not my internet's fault, I live on the West Coast and routinely get <100ms ping to UT3 and CoD4 servers in Ontario/Eastern States. I seriously hope it's just a ghastly inefficiency in Nintendo's matchmaking and connection service, because that can probably be patched out. If it's a fundamental error in the design of the wireless card itself... not so much.

Perhaps international connections (i.e. someone in Canada connecting to someone in another country) are just weird or being dumb with the Wii.

I still don't understand why the game lags when I'm brawling someone who lives in the same county as me.

I get lag from people down the street.

Xero, stop giving up and just fight me. Seriously. I hate it when people suicide when I want to fight someone at their hardest.

I have 254 right now. I need X - Tunnel Scene, Giga Bowser, and Main Theme (Super Mario 64).

Two of them are random CD drops and the last is a challenge unlockable..

I do believe you need 50 hours for Super Mario 64's theme, but I'm not 100% sure.

If it is, it's real easy to get while you're at school, assuming you don't have any morons/douchebags at home willing to turn off your Wii.

I just saved a replay of me in Basic Brawl, being a total jackass with Snake's taunt.

I wasted too much time doing Intense All-Star mode.

Like... Why bother? At least it's less mind numbing than Classic. The game got WAY more boring once I finished SSE, even though it's great.

I play Smash Bros to unlock things, I unlocked everything that I care about. I have all characters, stages, assist trophies, and additional rules. Everything else is for bragging rights.
