Title: The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass
Post by: The Otaku on 11 May 2008, 00:06:01
I just got the game a month ago. It's okay. There's nothing new, but controlling and attacking with Link was kinda fun. The Battle Mode serves for many laughs, however, and I was wondering if anyone wanted play against me sometime? Here's my friend code.

I'd also appreciate you post your friend code, as well as your opinion on the game.

It's far, far beyond "okay", and there's enough "new".

Okay, fine. But it didn't WOW me enough.

Well, you smell like BRIE.

Anyway, I got to the big maze island and then never played it again.

The maze isn't bad. It's quite addicting . . . if you have a guide . . . like I . . do -- I mean, don't . .

The maze was dumb, but the game itself was alright, although missing a few things that I feel make it a good Zelda game.

I'll add my friendcode when I'm reminded to pick it up.

I thought it was an okay game. It was innovative and, storyline-wise, a good follow up to The Windwaker, but it just felt kinda' lame. Plus it was dirt easy. I beat it the day I bought it. I haven't touched it since. I dunno'... I'd give it a 6/10

Keep seeing the game in the bargain bin or something like that. Been thinking of getting it, but... Well... Minish Cap happened and now I'm wary and weary.

Sidenote: Calling it "The Windwaker" sounds 650% dumber than not doing so, even if is the actual sous-titre, I don't know why. Well technically it's "The Wind Waker" like that, but yeah, let's not go there.

Well, you smell like BRIE.

Ohhhh #####, Otaku got served!

Sniff, got served BRIE.

I don't know if I'd rather smell like brie, or eat it.

Lose-lose situation.

Post by: The Otaku on 12 July 2008, 02:47:08
Smell. Then I can take a shower, whereas eating it will forever leave it's mark on my colon.

Title: Re: The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass
Post by: Mikero on 12 July 2008, 02:57:06
Nope. You have to pick it like this;

Either you smell like brie forever, or you can only ever eat brie.

The cheese I mean. Because if we're talking about a girl named Brianna this is getting really gross.

I saw my sister playing this game.

Then I went and played Gunstar Heroes.
That's my story of how I had fun with Phantom Hourglass.

If the brie was injected with growth hormones I'd still decide to smell of it. Better inside than on the out.

I'm sure there's a story about how you didn't have fun with Gunstar Super Heroes. I have such a story. Please tell yours.

Post by: Chron on 12 July 2008, 03:06:08
Yes. I saw this ad for Gunstar Super Heroes.
So I decided to "try it out" when the Japanese version came out.

About five minutes later I found myself deep within Black's Silly Dice Maze in the original game throwing the die with unparalleled rage.

Post by: Mikero on 12 July 2008, 08:49:01
That's not a bad story. Here's mine;

Call me Ishmael. I tried Gunstar Super Heroes. It sucked. The End.

Phantom Hourglass took all the things I hated about Windwaker and beat me over the head with them until I lost all interest in playing it.

Also, it contains an unforgivable amount of backtracking.

Title: Re: The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass
Post by: Mikero on 12 July 2008, 08:55:51
Soo... You're saying it IS better than Minish Cap?

Title: Re: The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass
Post by: Edgecrusher on 12 July 2008, 09:07:53
Minish Cap was weak sauce

Title: Re: The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass
Post by: Chron on 12 July 2008, 13:43:58
I liked Minish Cap.
Well, once. I'd never play it again.

Title: Re: The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass
Post by: ASR on 12 July 2008, 14:33:10
Minish Cap was neither good nor bad. It was like... nothing, the entire way through. My data got erased over halfway, and I had absolutely no desire to ever touch it again after that.

Post by: Vinchenz Rock on 12 July 2008, 17:49:36
Meh, Minish Cap...

Capcom did a so much better job on the Oracle games.

Also, I liked Gunstar Super Heroes but only because I've never played the original.

Title: Re: The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass
Post by: Chron on 12 July 2008, 19:49:01
That's the only reason possible.

Title: Re: The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass

I never played the original and still hated it.

I liked Minish Cap.
Well, once. I'd never play it again.
Minish Cap was neither good nor bad. It was like... nothing, the entire way through.

Yes. Also I found it annoying that you're not really told what to do next, so there's too often some aimless wandering.

Title: Re: The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass
Post by: Chron on 12 July 2008, 22:29:32
... did you ever try pressing select?
Annoying as the hat is, it's like having a FAQ handy pretty much all the time.

Most of the time he'd just say ##### like "We must stop Vaati!" or "We have to get <blahblah>!"

Like, without saying where to go at all.

"I'm a #####ing hat!"

Title: Re: The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass
Post by: Chron on 12 July 2008, 22:36:41
Well alright.
Maybe I just got lucky.

Ever play a game where you just keep choosing the correct path to go down to get all the stuff?

Title: Re: The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass
Post by: The Otaku on 12 July 2008, 22:38:06
I have no idea what you're talking about.

Pac-Man?

I can barely get past the first stage.

I thought you were just kidding. How is it even possible to suck at Pac-Man?!

Title: Re: The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass
Post by: Mikero on 12 July 2008, 22:48:05
Probably because Pac Man is not fun.

Title: Re: The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass
Post by: ASR on 12 July 2008, 22:52:44
I can see it being fun back when it was first released.

But now? No.

I don't think I'd have been into video games much when they first came out. Pong is fun, but not THAT fun.

Pac-Man is so incredibly boring I never cared to get good at it.

You know that cherry flavored cough syrup everyone hates?
I could OD on that stuff.

Why does the ghost have a leg? They all have only one leg each...

Yuck.

Also, what does the asterisk next to "Pac-Man" mean? Where is the footnote that goes with that? There are so many possibilities as to the technicality of the Pac-Man title floating in my head right now.

Title: Re: The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass
Post by: Edgecrusher on 13 July 2008, 14:37:47
*Gameplay may not actually contain pac-man

Apparently the pac-men are numerous, and have their own military strategist.

I really like that way of imagining the game, now.

I was playing the Nintendo Wi-Fi Battle Mode and I ran into this person named t(^_^)t who actually helps me. At first I thought it was some sort of trick so he could steal my Force Gems away or something, but for sixteen games straight he put gems into my area. Even when I decided he wasn't tricking me and started putting Force Gems in his spot, he still put them back in my area. When I was a Phantom he ran after me. And then I realized that playing with someone who helps is much more fun than trying to beat the other. We were actually playing tag, 'cause when I played as Phantom he was trying to kill himself, but I kept running away.

Here are my stats. Typed out of boredom.

Name: E21
Rank: C
Battle Pts.: 4028
Win Percentage: 78%
Wins: 137
Losses: 39
Ties: 3
Friend Code: 3652-1846-3749

I'd sure like to play against some of you guys.

I liked this game. I was just talking about it today. And now I want to play it again.

Now I don't.

Is there a quote in that scan which says "Good gobbling and good luck"?

Reminds me of this. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LHY8NKj3RKs)
