Title: Gamefaqs poll: Surprised me. Post by: Johncarllos on 30 May 2008, 13:56:36 http://www.gamefaqs.com/poll/index.html?poll=3133
As it stands, in the poll for 'which series needs to be retired most,' Megaman has the least votes. People would rather be rid of Final Fantasy, Madden, Mario, Pokemon and the Sims before Megaman. I voted for the Sims. How about you? Title: Re: Gamefaqs poll: Surprised me. Post by: Abominator on 30 May 2008, 15:20:29 It's Mario SPINOFFS, not Mario.
I'd say out of all of them the most offensive is are Madden and FF. Title: Re: Gamefaqs poll: Surprised me. Post by: ChaosVortex on 30 May 2008, 16:00:46 Final Fantasy I can stand, but that's probably because I ignore them.
I'm tired of #####ty PokeMon and I hate Madden. Title: Re: Gamefaqs poll: Surprised me. Post by: ASR on 30 May 2008, 16:28:07 I chose Madden, but I still have respect for them.
I read an article not too long ago that showed me it was a little harder than I thought for them to churn out sports games. They're AWARE that it's basically the same game over and over again, but they're trying not to keep it so mundane. Imagine having to top last year's game every year with new features and innovations in only a year's deadline, non-stop. Title: Re: Gamefaqs poll: Surprised me. Post by: Abominator on 30 May 2008, 16:30:17 They don't have to, though.
Put a new roster up for 10 bucks instead. Title: Re: Gamefaqs poll: Surprised me. Post by: ASR on 30 May 2008, 16:31:50 That's true, I suppose. That's actually a great idea.
Title: Re: Gamefaqs poll: Surprised me. Post by: Abominator on 30 May 2008, 16:38:10 Not for them, because 10 bucks is less than 50 bucks.
Title: Re: Gamefaqs poll: Surprised me. Post by: ASR on 30 May 2008, 16:40:00 It still saves them a lot of work, though, so you never know.
Title: Re: Gamefaqs poll: Surprised me. Post by: Abominator on 30 May 2008, 16:45:52 As long as morons continue to buy every iteration of every sports game, which history has proven that they will, EA ain't gonna stop milking them dry.
Title: Re: Gamefaqs poll: Surprised me. Post by: Rama Olendris on 30 May 2008, 21:01:31 Very surprising indeed.
I probably would vote for Final Fantasy because I have been highly unimpressed with the entire series ever since FFVII. Sims and Pokemon could use a retirement as well. Megaman (meaning the classic series and the X series) however, shouldn't be just dropped off but -completed- sometime soon. I think. Title: Re: Gamefaqs poll: Surprised me. Post by: preventerWIND on 31 May 2008, 01:45:10 FF has lost it's luster, it has for a LONG time. I'd vote for that but I'm too lazy to click the link.
Also, I want more Pokemon games, despite having 700 new Pokemon every game it's still fun. NEEDS A G/S REMAEK!!1 Title: Re: Gamefaqs poll: Surprised me. Post by: Mikero on 31 May 2008, 02:06:36 If they're just going to close off X and Classic with as crappy games as they've recently made for other series then they should just leave it alone.
"LEAVE MEGAMAN ALONE!" Not for them, because 10 bucks is less than 50 bucks. Yeah but you can't blame them for the past since the download stuff wasn't possible, but they definitely should do it now. The newest Madden I played was one my friend Brian has for his Gamecube. I was surprised both at how dope it was (ones I'd played in the past were pretty crap) and how I was actually not bad at it. He also has NBA Street 2, which I'd never played before and now want to own desperately. If no one here has played it (which is probably true), it's just about the best basketball game since the SNES days of NBA Jam. It's pretty much just like a Gamecube version of NBA Jam with all the fun of it being STREET basketball and having character creation that even lets your character join a real team and the game generates an NBA style nickname based on your created character's play style. I forgot what nickname the character he made for me was, but my I looked DOOOPE. Apparently NBA Street 3, also for GC, has even better custom stuff and also a Mario team (¬_¬;), so I really want it. Title: Re: Gamefaqs poll: Surprised me. Post by: Johncarllos on 31 May 2008, 02:31:16 NBA Street is the best thing to happen to basketball games ever.
Played 2 and 3 for short amounts of time once. Title: Re: Gamefaqs poll: Surprised me. Post by: Mikero on 31 May 2008, 02:50:39 If they aren't going to make anymore, I have to find NBA Street 3 to buy... and SOON.
Title: Re: Gamefaqs poll: Surprised me. Post by: ASR on 31 May 2008, 03:37:10 I had NBA Street Vol. 3. You could play as Nintendo All-Stars, with Mario, Luigi and Peach. That game was AWESOME, seriously. It's what transitioned me into playing sports games with my friends more often than I used to.
I've heard nothing of any sequels or whatnot, so look for NBA Street 3, Mike. Totally worth it, great game. Title: Re: Gamefaqs poll: Surprised me. Post by: Mikero on 31 May 2008, 03:38:24 It sounds exactly like Street 2 but with better customs and an all-star I'll use like twice, so I definitely want it if I can find it.
Title: Re: Gamefaqs poll: Surprised me. Post by: ASR on 31 May 2008, 03:41:14 I never played the second or first but I assume the third tops them both.
Title: Re: Gamefaqs poll: Surprised me. Post by: TriggerUNIT on 31 May 2008, 17:36:44 Final Fantasy: Pretty much went downhill after VII. It needs to die already.
Madden: Definitely. I understand there are changes from year to year but, c'mon, it IS the same damn game over and over again. Megaman: Already retired. As far as I'm concerned there hasn't been a REAL Megaman game produced in a very long time. It's retired in my opinion until we get something on par with at least Megaman X. Mario: ... Why? C'mon I haven't played many mario games that I haven't enjoyed. The only game I didn't like was Dr. Mario and that's pretty much it. Mario has a great batting average. Sims: Do it in. Sure the style and themes change, but with what the sims are, you can only do so much before it's time for it to kick the bucket. Besides... I haven't played a sim game that was able to captivate my attention for more than 15 minutes. (That's not including the time it takes to create a character.) Title: Re: Gamefaqs poll: Surprised me. Post by: Abominator on 31 May 2008, 18:05:30 X8 was a great game, and it's not that old, so clearly there's still room for a proper MM game.
Title: Re: Gamefaqs poll: Surprised me. Post by: preventerWIND on 31 May 2008, 20:05:35 Indeed, I'm one of the minimal people who thinks x8 was the #####. If I see Inafune, I'd jump at the chance to sign my MM games, my x8 being the first in line.
Title: Re: Gamefaqs poll: Surprised me. Post by: Abominator on 31 May 2008, 20:06:57 It wouldn't be first.
Title: Re: Gamefaqs poll: Surprised me. Post by: ASR on 31 May 2008, 20:32:00 My favorites of any MegaMan game have always been MM2 and MM3.
Title: Re: Gamefaqs poll: Surprised me. Post by: Mikero on 31 May 2008, 21:20:18 I still don't understand why everyone likes FFVII so much. The story is pretty granola and the main players in it look like everything I hate about Earth.
Title: Re: Gamefaqs poll: Surprised me. Post by: ASR on 31 May 2008, 23:21:00 I played about an hour in once and didn't see anything special so I stopped.
Title: Re: Gamefaqs poll: Surprised me. Post by: ChaosVortex on 1 June 2008, 02:47:56 My favorites of any MegaMan game have always been MM2 and MM3. Mega Man 2, Mega Man X, and Mega Man Powered Up. I'd have him sign any one of those or any of my Mega Man Collection games. Mostly Mega Man 2 or Mega Man X. Probably Mega Man X. BTW, this is the 666th topic. Title: Re: Gamefaqs poll: Surprised me. Post by: Vinchenz Rock on 1 June 2008, 05:27:51 I played about an hour in once and didn't see anything special so I stopped. Well, nothing really special happens until you leave Midgar. But enough about that... Title: Re: Gamefaqs poll: Surprised me. Post by: Mikero on 1 June 2008, 10:07:19 I'd have Inafune sign MMZ or X7 and then be like "... Really?" and he'd say "... I know... I... Just... I-I know." and then-and then we'd have a beer.
But I don't own either of those games. Title: Re: Gamefaqs poll: Surprised me. Post by: Johncarllos on 1 June 2008, 14:15:22 I'd have him sign an anorexic 10 year old girl wearing a sign that says "I am Zero."
Title: Re: Gamefaqs poll: Surprised me. Post by: ChaosVortex on 1 June 2008, 18:02:38 She can say "I'm about to die" and it could work both ways.
Title: Re: Gamefaqs poll: Surprised me. Post by: Vinchenz Rock on 1 June 2008, 18:52:36 I'd have him sign my MM1 NES cartridge, American MM art and all.
Title: Re: Gamefaqs poll: Surprised me. Post by: ASR on 1 June 2008, 19:31:29 I bet he dies a little inside every time someone shoves an American MM1 cartridge at him.
The thing is, if I ever run into Inafune, I'm damn well not going to have any of my MegaMan games on me unless it's 100% planned. Like, I've met celebrities and important people, but always at the most random times. Mandy Moore, Andy Roddick, Howie Mandell, Rosie O'Donnel (ugh), etc. etc. etc. Title: Re: Gamefaqs poll: Surprised me. Post by: NovaMan XP on 1 June 2008, 20:10:32 I'd have him sign my MM1 NES cartridge, American MM art and all. Same. I can't believe I still have it. >_> Title: Re: Gamefaqs poll: Surprised me. Post by: ChaosVortex on 1 June 2008, 20:25:22 Due to the fugly boxart and the fact that the game is just "alright" to me, I have a slight grin with I see a MM1 cartridge.
I smile cheek-to-cheek when I see MM2. In fact, I saw it at a card shop the other day near a Wii and a bunch of NES games. I wanted to hold it dearly, but I was in public. Title: Re: Gamefaqs poll: Surprised me. Post by: Mikero on 3 June 2008, 01:57:22 My friend is totally in like with Mandy Moore.
Title: Re: Gamefaqs poll: Surprised me. Post by: ASR on 3 June 2008, 02:37:34 I'm totally in photo with Mandy Moore.
I'm gonna' steal that phrase, "in like with." I'm in like with that. Anyway, the photo... It's old and I'm young, though. I'm in the orange shirt. Title: Re: Gamefaqs poll: Surprised me. Post by: Mikero on 3 June 2008, 02:41:25 I could that was you before I finished reading it, heh.
Title: Re: Gamefaqs poll: Surprised me. Post by: TheRedPriest on 3 June 2008, 17:58:14 X8 was a great game, and it's not that old, so clearly there's still room for a proper MM game. You've been drinking again. X8 isn't even as good as X5 or X6 gameplay or stage design wise (and X5 and X6 weren't the best in the series either). And in art direction and Axl is gets double F's. No, X8 was not a "great game". It was decent at BEST, but much closer to mediocre. Could they take what they did with X8 and make it BETTER? Possibly. But they won't. Title: Re: Gamefaqs poll: Surprised me. Post by: ChaosVortex on 3 June 2008, 17:59:55 I would say X8 was great, if you ignored the storyline of course.
Title: Re: Gamefaqs poll: Surprised me. Post by: Abominator on 3 June 2008, 18:24:43 X8 was a great game, and it's not that old, so clearly there's still room for a proper MM game. I ignore Axl and it was better than X6 in all ways. Title: Re: Gamefaqs poll: Surprised me. Post by: ASR on 3 June 2008, 19:18:53 What Abe said.
I never played as Axl once. Title: Re: Gamefaqs poll: Surprised me. Post by: Xero on 3 June 2008, 20:10:51 X8 was excellent.
It was a step in the right direction. Title: Re: Gamefaqs poll: Surprised me. Post by: TheRedPriest on 3 June 2008, 21:00:01 I ignore Axl and it was better than X6 in all ways. Music was below par in X8. Stage design was absolutely horrible in X8. Every stage was so themed it detracted from the platforming action and further more each stage was also poorly implemented. Subbing a #####ing store for heart and sub tanks was complete bull#####. Life and continue system was terrible. Switching in level between characters still doesn't work, just like it didn't in X7. The ONLY positive thing you can give X8 is the slot system for X's armor, and even then the armor is the worst looking thing outside of MMZ or the over the top absurdly retarded Command Mission armors. I won't even get into the absolutely crap new art style for it. X8 was not a great game. It doesn't come close to the pre X7 games. Even the poorer ones. X8 was not a "step in the right direction", it was only an improvement from X7, and frankly, after that festering pile of disease it wouldn't be hard to do better. I'll gladly acknowledge that X5 and X6 were not good games. But to say X8 was better? I think not. Flawed as they were, X5 and X6 kept the basics of the series at least. Choose X OR Zero (even if X6 let you change between stages), Hidden Heart tanks, Hidden Sub Tanks, Armor Parts (Again, not instant use, but that's one of the flaws) and generally action based stages. Also, I'll point out 3D just does not look as sharp as sprites. The game just didn't LOOK as good. Title: Re: Gamefaqs poll: Surprised me. Post by: Abominator on 3 June 2008, 21:07:21 Right, X6 was abhorrent.
The only worse X game than X6 is X7. Title: Re: Gamefaqs poll: Surprised me. Post by: TheRedPriest on 3 June 2008, 21:15:51 ... I disagree :P
X6 is a better game than X8 in my book. And that's the book of H. THE ONLY BOOK THAT COUNTS. Title: Re: Gamefaqs poll: Surprised me. Post by: Abominator on 3 June 2008, 21:19:48 ...damn it.

Title: Re: Gamefaqs poll: Surprised me. Post by: The Otaku on 6 June 2008, 00:46:52 I voted for the Sims. Controlling virtual people is a waste of time, because you do it everyday and control yourself. Plus it has crappy graphics.
Title: Re: Gamefaqs poll: Surprised me. Post by: Johncarllos on 6 June 2008, 01:23:22 I wouldn't mind any graphical problems if it was a good game.
Title: Re: Gamefaqs poll: Surprised me. Post by: The Otaku on 6 June 2008, 02:35:53 Well the game and the graphics were both terrible. You might as well make ugly voodoo dolls and play Barbie with them.
Title: Re: Gamefaqs poll: Surprised me. Post by: ChaosVortex on 6 June 2008, 02:46:41 You just made me and a bunch of other Animal Crossing players sad.
... Actually, Animal Crossing was more of a time killer than it was an "enjoyable game". Title: Re: Gamefaqs poll: Surprised me. Post by: NovaMan XP on 6 June 2008, 02:51:37 Chaos, at least in Animal Crossing you can move your character and he doesn't make stupid decisions on his own. Like running into a fire.
Title: Re: Gamefaqs poll: Surprised me. Post by: The Otaku on 6 June 2008, 03:10:36 Speaking of AC, a friend at my school is an AC junkie. She has all the games and she knows about my interest in anything Megaman. She keeps claiming AC is better, but I just ignore her and silently say to myself that Megaman will always be better than any game that's comparable to the Sims 'Animal Version'. What do you guys think?
Title: Re: Gamefaqs poll: Surprised me. Post by: ChaosVortex on 6 June 2008, 03:20:36 Animal Crossing has like what, two games?
And that's correct except for the "any Mega Man game". Mega Man in general is MUCH better than Animal Crossing, but there are horrid abominations out there. If you haven't heard, Capcom made a game called "Mega Man Starforce". I'd rather play Animal Crossing than Mega Man X7 or Battle Network 4 anyday. Title: Re: Gamefaqs poll: Surprised me. Post by: ASR on 6 June 2008, 03:51:31 Animal Crossing was enjoyable when it first came out.
And then suddenly I realized how much time I was wasting and figured out that it wasn't actually fun. Title: Re: Gamefaqs poll: Surprised me. Post by: ChaosVortex on 6 June 2008, 04:01:56 That's why I never bought the Gamecube one. Wild World is great if you have nothing else better to do and you're on a bus ride to/from school.
Title: Re: Gamefaqs poll: Surprised me. Post by: Mikero on 6 June 2008, 04:02:29 I voted for the Sims. Controlling virtual people is a waste of time, because you do it everyday and control yourself. Plus it has crappy graphics. I wouldn't say it has crappy graphics. I mean, yeah they're not complicated, but there's no reason for them to be. None the less, I still play the ORIGINAL version of from time to time. It's fun to cheap and be rich and it's also fun to kill people in hilarious death traps. It's a far more interesting time killer than Animal Crossing by far. And if your Sims make stupid decisions it's pretty much your fault for being a crap player, there's an actual system to how everything works. MegaMan and Animal Crossing aren't even comparable. It's no two sides of the same coin, it's not even apples and oranges. It's like comparing a leather shoe to a length of telephone cable. They don't even relate. Title: Re: Gamefaqs poll: Surprised me. Post by: Johncarllos on 6 June 2008, 04:05:35 Unless the telephone cable is used for the laces.
It can be done, it'd be like the curly laces that you 'never have to tie again!!!' Title: Re: Gamefaqs poll: Surprised me. Post by: Mikero on 6 June 2008, 04:15:44 You still can't even compare laces and shoes. They just happen to live together, but they're two things you can compare. You can ask someone if they'd prefer to be a vampire or werewolf, but you wouldn't say "these laces are better than that shoe" or "this cheese is better than that set of 2008 Income Tax Return forms", even though the cheese IS better.
Title: Re: Gamefaqs poll: Surprised me. Post by: ChaosVortex on 6 June 2008, 04:17:03 MegaMan and Animal Crossing aren't even comparable. Post by: ChaosVortex on 6 June 2008, 04:26:26 Well, no. They're both video games therefore they share qualities. It's just... Mega Man's popularity and success outweighs Animal Crossing alone, and I can go on about how the gamplay between them differs. What I'm saying, they don't even NEED to be compared, because the gap between them is so huge.
So in that sense, they can't be compared. That's how I see it. EDIT: Like Rock, Paper, Scissors... except Mega Man is always the Rock and Animal Crossing is always Scissors. The choice is obvious. Title: Re: Gamefaqs poll: Surprised me. Post by: The Otaku on 6 June 2008, 04:52:19 Did you just use Rock to symbolize Megaman because of his other name Rockman? Because you could have symoblized Megaman as scissors cutting up some AC Paper, or Megaman Paper surrounding AC Rock . . .
Title: Re: Gamefaqs poll: Surprised me. Post by: Mikero on 6 June 2008, 05:34:27 Rock is just better than the others, and sounds cool, and relates to the japanese name. It was a far better going than scissors. ##### scissors.
