I was at work tonight and I was instructing someone on how to properly run the grill, arguing what the proper size of a burger was and stuff no one really cares about but it's my job so stfu.

Someone mentions "Good Burger", and although I admitted to the sin of never watching it, I mentioned that I missed Kenan and Kel.

And we both quoted the line together at the same time:

Kenen and Kel were the #####.

Kenan and Kel was an awesome show.
Much better than most of the live-action crap that Nickelodeon has produced.
Minor exceptions of Pete and Pete and Wild and Crazy Kids.

But me?
I used to watch the Sonic the Hedgehog SatAM cartoon a lot when I was little. That and Reboot were my Saturday morning for the longest time.

Favorite cartoon ever was the Centurions, shortly followed by David the Gnome (which I what I named the gnome in Half Life 2 Ep:2 throughout our epic campaign into space).
I used to have the original book that inspired the David the Gnome cartoon, and I just thought it was cool to see the thing come to life like that.

Oh, and you can't forget Gullah Gullah Island and Eureka's Castle. Sure, it was toddler fodder, but I'll be damned if it wasn't hypnotizing.

As far as toys, I had tons of Legos and most of the Star Wars Action Fleet models.
Not because I liked Star Wars that much (although it was cool), but because it was fun to run around outside firing plastic laser beams at the other children.

And then there were the video games.
When I was like 4-5, my father bought a ColecoVision and a PC. Some of my earliest gaming memories are playing Donkey Kong, Xaxxon, Math Blaster and Roger Wilco's Space Quest.

Good times.

It was OK from time to time, but for a "horror" show it never really lived up to it.

I remember more laughter at the outlandish plots and "hip kids".

I seem to recall this mall episode to be the scariest... but that's maybe because a lot of people say that. I can barely remember the episode itself.

I do remember an episode where there was this bloody skeleton in a school pool. That thing freaked the ##### out of me.

I never said DEAD. I said WAS, meaning when it WAS airing. Now I can't find it anywhere.

Are You Afraid Of The Dark? was on YTV.

The mall episode had the guy in a sort of video game type scenario. Eventually he got enough points or whatever to use a special gun (that was clearly a Super Soaker 50 painted silver) and killed the bad guy with it. In the end, you heard a ca-chunk and saw a giant silver ball coming down towards him as everything restarted. Ended with the realisation that he's IN a pinball game.

Wasn't the creepiest for me but was one of the better ones. The vampires moving in next door freaked me right out for the longest time.

The one with that red pool skeleton was good too. About as good as the one in the fire station where the kid looks into the flame and that like releases the fire spirit or whatever and it burns the ##### out of everything.

Another one that creeped me out was the one in which Amanda from Ready Or Not/Trance from Andromeda was getting babysat or something and there was this big black figure that would come out the walls and junk when no one was around because the house was built wherever it was built. Something like that.

AYAOTD was so awesome. I remember almost all of those that Mike listed off, too. Memories, man. Especially the red pool skeleton.

Because of this topic, I had a dream last night that I ate a bunch of Silica Gel. My mouth dried out, and whenever I would drink water it would just get sucked into the gel. I had to drink like nine glasses of water before I was better.

I'm absolutely terrified of eating beef jerky in the dark because I'm convinced I'm going to accidentally swallow the "Do Not Eat" packet.

Nick is so weird. Every time I think "there's so much ##### that they used to air that they would never get away with anymore", like the stuff on Ren and Stimpy, Rocko's Modern Life (Chokey Chicken, anyone?), All That, etc., they surprise me a bit. I was watching Fairly Oddparents before I went to bed (I work nights), and they got away with a masturbation joke.

Still, nothing beats Salute Your Shorts. Of all the jokes and sight gags that they got away with, my favorite was the one where the kid was reading "The Best Dirty Jokes from World War II".

On a related note, this one girl I'm friends with is like, you know that type of girl who loves and is obsessed with Invader Zim. You know, the same type of girl that has Nightmare Before Christmas memorized and thinks Donnie Darko is their own personal bible.

Except, by some odd stroke of crazy, she'd never seen Invader Zim before. But I know that type of girl.

So, yeah, I show her one episode and now she's constantly knocking at my door to watch more episodes and I honestly forgot how brilliant Invader Zim was.

I mean, it's always been my favorite Nicktoon, just barely ahead of Rocko's Modern Life and Ren & Stimpy, and I love it to death, but it's been years since I last watched them all.

Last Zim marathon I had was when I bought the DVD's.

So, anyway, my point is: Zim still rocks.

I found a Rocko's Modern Life comic at the store a couple weeks ago and put it in my drawer. I have yet to read it.

I haven't watched ZIM since Winamp TV first came out.

Personally I only eat raisin bran and cheerios, and even then only on rare occasion that there are no eggs to cook.

I remember the mario one. I remember thinking This is STUPID. That level is SO easy.

Those kids are morons. Video games aren't even hard for kids. It's like how kids can use a computer right out of the box and their parents are like "Hein?!" It's their blood and their generation and their fuel and their waste and their all. It's the same reason we all had Blastoise (if you were cool) or Charizard (if you were trendy) or Venesaur (if you were THAT guy) the morning after the NIGHT we got Pokemon Red (if you were cool) or blue (if you were just OK).

And FURTHERMORE that wasn't even a hard part of the game. Proven by the fact that they left and Mario just did it on his own.

Anyway Raisin Bran is the bomb diggity of cereals and if you disagree you clearly haven't tried it and are also probably some sort of neo-NAZI.

I was a Venusaur guy, but in my defense, I literally only did it because I like green.

I lost my taste for Raisin Bran after having it almost every day of school last year.

Blastoise, and I had Pokemon Blue, but I never particularly cared one way or another because I was too busy being way more awesome than anyone else.

I had Super Mario Land 2, and I let everyone know it.

I've never really understood why people who had Red version thought it was so much better than Blue.

It's the same damn game, and both are easily completable with just the starter Pokeman.

Well, most tend to think the wild Pokemon in it were better compared to the different ones from Blue. I tend to agree, but I mostly only hype Red because it's the one I had. Pure bias. Also like EVERYONE had Blue here, and I was one of few kids with Red, so anytime someone needed Red stuff they'd come to me (actually, the other kids in my class with Red copied me later on...).

So yeah...

And I was in the opposite situation. In fact, in most situations I was the only one with Blue.

Of course, I was an asshole and would play SML2 instead of trading anything.

Oh nonononono, I was the only kid with Pokeymans Blue, but not always.
Everyone had SML2.

SML1 has some nice music here and there, and you can see much farther to the left and right, but the controls and other things just generally make it sloppy.

The second game is better in every regard, and I highly recommend playing it if you can find it.

I effing love Super Mario Land 2! I used to play it a ton when I was little, but I didn't beat it until last year. I got addicted for like a week. The final castle is actually pretty hard, but it's doable.

I first beat it on a road trip (same way I beat the first game, come to think of it, but I died WAY more in SML1). Then I realised there was an easy mode.

Easy mode doesn't actually make the final castle too much easier.

I can't imagine it would really change too much.

There are less enemies, and...
... yeah, that's about it.

Strangely, even on normal it looks like there are enemies missing, but I've never heard of a hard mode in it.

NICE. God bless the Family channel, they're giving kids the chance to watch what we watched. And we all know they need it, especially with all this #####ing anime bullcrap going around. I hear Family actually airs the old Digimon. Kudos to them..

We watched a few episodes again for #####s in high school. It was a good show, but some really stupid stuff happened in it that makes you go "Whaat?" if you're not like 10.

I definitely don't remember it being live action. I remember there being a girl turtle in some TMNT cartoon, she had a green mask.

In the live action she has a cyan mask. Her name was Venus (as in, "of Milo") and she had a love story with Leonardo in which they explained that Leo, his brothers, and Venus were not blood relatives, as they were all from a pet store where turtles are just plopped together. Meaning it wasn't incest.

I just want to know if anyone ever played it and their thoughts about it. I absolutely loved this suicidal racing game.

The tracks get much crazier than the one shown above.

Looks like a bad mix of X-Treme G and Waverace. While I love X-Treme G, I've never been into Waverace. That's just the looks though. I have no idea how it actually places.

I kind of like how the levels are designed though. The look like crap but I like that you can fall through and stuff.

I'd still rather play X-Treme G anyday though, at this point.

I thought it was pretty awesome and I'd be tempted to play it again. If you're into difficult racing games then this would be one of them. By difficult, I mean... you'll be smacking your face against countless objects, flying off your Moto, falling to your death, crashing, etc.

There's apparently a Jet Moto 3 for the PS2 but I never knew of it's existence.

I'd call this Jet Moto's attempt at a Rainbow Road (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X88PCoyoNr0). Racing through Heaven in one minute, then dropping into Hell the other.

I remember my pokemon cards getting taken from me by the teachers. and my pogs being jacked by other students... but whining because the cool kid stole my marbles?!

They weren't expensive (that I know of), there were unlimited kinds and styles, and anyone would have a hard time making a cartoon or some other cash grab about them. You got to hit them against things. No, man. They made a clack sound, rolled around, hurt your friends. Marbles put on a good show. I dug and dig marbles.

I played marbles, pogs, Crazy Bones, Tech Decks, and Pokemon in elementary school. I also did a little Yu-Gi-Oh for a very small amount of time.

By middle school, I was done with all of that. Though maybe Pokemon carried over a bit.

Just for the record, the snowboard ones were awesome because they strapped to your fingers and had no wheels so you could just leave them on your fingers and play with them effing everywhere, "grinding" tons of crap like door handles or any possible edge.

Tech Decks. Those were dark days, man. Back when I actually liked the Tony Hawk games.

Yeah I thought about Battle B-Daman when posting, but I never considered it to be about marbles (not that I saw it really) because it seemed like they shot them out of guns or some dumb thing. If it's about marbles then fine, but nowadays you can make a #####ty american anime-style show about anything. I was talking more about how at the time in the 80's they couldn't find a way to cash grab the popularity of marbles.

I never played Kerplunk but it always looked awesome.

Beast Wars/Beasties toys were great. So were MicroMachines.

I am disturbed by Airazor's pose in that picture though.

Oh my God.

I remember I always got mad at the guy in Gourmet Records for not liking the 80's rock song or the jazz song. And while I liked the pop song at the end, I hated it's singer.

I thought The Pyramid was awesome (well I liked most of the The Mind's Eye stuff like it) but that weird fish-eye shot always bugged me.

Imaginaria was always just badass. But as a kid I'd get bored of it in the middle, waiting for my cartoons to come back.

I used to have almost ALL the Maximal transformers.

..Okay, so that's not a lot, but I also had a few of those ones that never appeared in the show, like an Armadillo guy. Armadillo's are awesome.

I also still have Optimal Optimus, he's huge. Too bad I lost the first Transmetal Optimus, he was a shiny blue gorilla on a surfboard.. so cool..

The armadillo was called Armordillo and yeah he was awesome. Most of the toys that didn't appear in the show were what they'd had planned for the protoforms if they fell. That's why toys like Airazor and I think Tigatron came out before they appeared in the show.

A lot of the protoforms were also gonna be new versions of old characters a la Optimus, Megatron, Scorpinok, etc. So there you had toys like Laserbeak (for legal reasons they had to call him Lazorbeak, was a recolour of Terrorsaur) and Ironhide reimaginings. There were also toys based on characters that appeared in the original Japanese animated Beast Wars series like Onyx Primal.

They also had a lot of foresight when planning the toyline for the show or something, because Waspinator had a second head. The second head was more robotic (like a Decepticon) and I didn't understand why it was there until YEARS after I got the toy when Waspinator's body got taken over by the immortal spark of Starscream.

Haha, I had some of those toys you named off. The purple coloured Terrorsaur, Lazorbeak. I also had the variant of Waspinator which was Buzzsaw I think. It had the second head too, but it's not because of Starscream, all of them had different heads, Optimus had an optional mask that looked like some alien/Maximal symbol. Cheetor also had an optional head.

I used to have the comic book Optimus and Megatron, they were a bat and an alligator and came with a mini beast wars comic book.

But anyway, I never liked how Waspinator was the host for Starscream, I mean, it's good and all. But Terrorsaur WAS Starscream, ya know?

I only had Waspinator but I don't remember my friends' Cheetors or Tarantualsses or anything having extra heads, but OK. Either way, the robot head with Waspinator was the exact one he had as Starscream.

Onyx Primal was originally a Nemesis version of the bat form of Optimus Primal, but that was abandoned and they make Onyx Primal into a character who was a Predacon turned Maximal, much like Dinobot.

Terrorsaur was similar to Starscream in that he wanted to take over and his voice (and when Starscream appeared in the show they used Terrorsaur's voice actor). He was, however, completely unlike Starscream in that he was a colossal idiot. Starscream isn't really smart or anything, but Terrorsaur is borderline retarded. Also Waspinator was far more popular, and thus Terrorsaur was killed off instead.

But yeah, Terrorsaur was much more like Starscream.

Bahaha, everyone in that show acted stupid, it was a real kids show in the sense that it was filled with a lot of comedy.

Like when Rhinox beats all of the Pred's by FARTING.

It was funny but no one was as stupid as Terrorsaur. Not even Waspinator or Inferno.

Transmutate was smarter than Terrorsaur!

TRANSMUTATE WAS FREAKY AS SHIIIIIIT. Terrorsaur died in a pit of liquid fire, good for him.

Man, everyone you're naming off I had a toy of. I had Inferno, what an awesome toy, as well as Tarantulus Transmetal, man, he turned into a motorcycle, that's intense.

Always wanted the Rampage toy. Ever since he turned into a truck and trashed the Maximal base OFF A CLIFF, I loved him.

I wanted to get Inferno to go with Waspinator, never did though.

I wish I had the toy they made for Ironhide though. I mean, I wish I had it RIGHT NOW. It's awesome. For starters, he turned into an elephant. That should be enough. But second, it's IRONHIDE.

The Rampage toy wasn't that great, though. At least, I don't remember it being that great.

Transmetal Tarantulas' best feature was that he turned into a motorcycle. Otherwise he was just Tarantulas.

Dude, the BEST thing about Ironhide was that he Megazorded with 2 other guys and made some huge Destructicon thing.

The Preds had one too, Predaking or some such bull#####, I can't remember the animals/insects that went into that guy.

Wait. It was Tripredacus, that was the name of the Megazord Predacon! And that's so wicked, because the Tripredacus appeared in one episode as 3 shadowy council guys. And the Maximal guy was named Magnaboss, how cool of a name is that?

Ironhide with Prowl and Silverbolt (a different Silverbolt from the Fuzor) combined  to make Magnaboss.

The Predacon combiner was essentially the Tripredacus Council. Seaclamp, Ramhorn, and Cicadacon where the council and they combined into Tripredacus, but licensing issues made it so their actual forms and names couldn't be on the show so they were just shadow figures.

And they're called combiners in Transformers. "Megazord", sheesh.

I know a lot about Transformers. Mostly Beast Wars though.

I've avoided the trailer to the new film so far but I might have to watch it 'cause apparently there's a bit of Ravage in it, and I really like Ravage.

They also have a few CG pics of the transformers, The Fallen looks.. good, they kind of did the same thing to him as they did with Frenzy. Devastator looks nothing like how he is in the TV show, NOTHING.

I LOVE Sideswipe, nothing you'd expect, but the design is just kickass in general.

The Ninja Megazord made for a nice 2nd place. Especially with the falcon attachment.

Anyway I looked at the released pic of Ravage, not from the trailer, you know with the white/no background and stuff. He looks sick. Some people complained, I've heard, but I'm really digging him.

I'll check out more released pics soon, but The Fallen is interesting. His face is like the Decepticon symbol nearly exactly and he's got like lava flowing through him. I don't know or really want to know that much why they chose to do a movie about him, considering he serves under one of my favourite bots, UNI-#####ing-CRON, but he looks interesting enough. I've really avoided a lot of the new movie stuff just 'cause I've not heard anything good. I don't know what you mean by "they kind of did the same thing to him as they did with Frenzy".

Devastator was in the first movie. Well not really, it was Brawl they called him Devastator in a subtitle. So them having Devastator in the movie is kind of stupid to me, theyn should have just left it alone. There are other combiners they could have for Constructicons. The new Devastator looks kind of fan made, but maybe it's just a crap picture.. I'm not really digging it.

I mistook Frenzy for Soundwave for a bit there, disregard what I said. But what I did mean was that they made The Fallen a bit too slim. Personally I was expecting a giant flaming robot(hah) for The Fallen, but this is good too.

It's also a shame Soundwave isn't going to be in it. :C

I also dunno why they're bringing him into it, when I heard what the title was I just thought it mean revenge of the Decepticons, I didn't know they'd bring The Fallen into this. And they'll probably bring in Unicron pretty soon, and I think it's just a bit too early for that.

I know all the stories of designing the characters (and believe me the initial designs were horrendous) and such too. I know what they're trying to do with the property now. In the fall I also went to a workshop on ReBoot at the Ottawa International Animation Festival.

Megabyte takes control of the Principal Office and tells everyone to "prepare for the hunt". The series ends on a cliffhanger.

That was actually the DVD movie "My Two Bobs", which was separated into the last season, like the movie "Daemon Rising" before it. There was supposed to be one more movie (5 episodes) after it along with another musical deal but it didn't work out.

Now, they're doing really bad comics directed by fans. They're really bad. Also, they're trying to write three movies for theatres but it's not that likely they'll get made and/or be good if the comics are an indication.

Right, you told me about the fan made stuff.. It's too bad it ended on a cliffhanger, the least they could do is let the series end properly. Oh well.

My favorite thing about Mighty Max, as I'm pretty sure I've stated before, is the ending.

I don't remember the first and third one very well, but the second one just opened a memory leak in my brain or something because I never thought that I would be remembering these old videos.

Yeah, I remember Short Circuit now. The Pyramid short... I remember it because I used to hate it. I don't know why but I hated it. I hated so much, that I'd make my mom change the channel whenever it came on. I hated it back then but now it's somewhat of a portal to my childhood. It's very nostalgic.

Wow, now I'm going to think about these for the next few months until I forget again.

Also ReBoot was awesome. Too bad they don't show it anymore. It's been several years now, but it's not that much of a childhood memory especially considering the fact that I was still watching it when I was in High School.

I had the TV on Nickelodeon for the first time in forever yesterday, watching the end of some Fairly Oddparents movie, and I saw this hilarious commercial for THE ROCKET FISHING ROD or something.

It was so dumb and so stupid but so awesome. Like, it's a fishing rod that just SHOOTS the hook out and launched it really far so you don't have to cast. And it looks like a Nerf Gun toy, all plastic and bright, but it's apparently a real fishing rod.

It's the kind of thing that if I saw that commercial as a kid, I'd have been all "OH MY GOD THAT'S SO COOL I WANT IT" even though I hated fishing.

ALSO, I forgot that commercials on kids channels that advertise a website all end with "ASK YOUR PARENTS PERMISSION BEFORE LOGGING ON!"

WRONG. Mighty Max was awesome and not boring if you were the appropriate age and losing pieces took more time than that!

Hey, as a kid I had NO IDEA they were boring! They were so awesome back then!

But I found some of my old ones a while back and laughed because they were such dumb toys.

I think I have a Polly Pocket around somewhere. I'd give it to the daycare (if I could find it) except for the size of the pieces.

I was a little strange as a kid: Imaginary friends, toilet monsters, and plushie siblings.

I had real friends, too, though. We would play Power Rangers vs. Godzilla or Princesses vs. Lizard Men.

I recall also that I always thought I looked too much like a boy, so I went through a time when I would ONLY wear skirts.

I also earned myself the nickname of Cat Princess in elementary school. I was recently reminded of this when I ran into an old schoolmate I haven't seen in years.

Speaking of which, seeing old schoolmates in adult life (friends aside) is almost always awkward.

I'm not sure why everyone thinks we were such good friends when they very clearly wanted nothing to do with me then.

I was also mentally advanced. My ADD kept me out of Gifted and Talented. I honestly understood (and was conversing about) rocket science and forms of theoretical physics before I knew what algebra was.

That and evolution of species, coupled with the six degrees of separation theory and that I didn't know who my father was.

The proir, of course, being the general base for the nickname, though it was a specific conversation that caused it.


I loved reading, too, and didn't have any videogames growing up (kid of a single parent college student = broke!). Booksmarts were my only friend when I switched schools.


I did love being Godzilla, though. :3
