Title: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: ChaosVortex on 3 October 2008, 04:05:24 Post all your old junk you used to play, watch, or experience in your childhood so we can all remember all that good stuff and whatnot.
Games. Movies. Old shows. I don't care, just do it. I was at work tonight and I was instructing someone on how to properly run the grill, arguing what the proper size of a burger was and stuff no one really cares about but it's my job so stfu. Someone mentions "Good Burger", and although I admitted to the sin of never watching it, I mentioned that I missed Kenan and Kel. And we both quoted the line together at the same time: "Who loves orange soda!?" "Kel loves orange soda." "Is it truuuuue?" "Mm-hmm... I do, I do, I DO-oooooo!" I couldn't stop laughing. God, I miss this show. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vAx4Go-frrE) Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: ASR on 3 October 2008, 04:49:39 You've never seen Good Burger?
Really? That movie gets away with so much ##### Nick would never allow nowadays. Anyway, yeah, I'll post more later, I like this topic. Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: Rama Olendris on 3 October 2008, 16:05:15 Alf.
A whole lot of Alf. I miss that cat-eating-alien so much. I was also rabid about The Last Unicorn and Sailor Moon. I can't think of anything else at the moment, I really have to give this a think. Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: Xero on 3 October 2008, 17:11:22 Kenen and Kel were the #####.
Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: Chron on 3 October 2008, 17:20:51 Kenan and Kel was an awesome show.
Much better than most of the live-action crap that Nickelodeon has produced. Minor exceptions of Pete and Pete and Wild and Crazy Kids. Funny how they all have "and" in them. But me? I used to watch the Sonic the Hedgehog SatAM cartoon a lot when I was little. That and Reboot were my Saturday morning for the longest time. Favorite cartoon ever was the Centurions, shortly followed by David the Gnome (which I what I named the gnome in Half Life 2 Ep:2 throughout our epic campaign into space). I used to have the original book that inspired the David the Gnome cartoon, and I just thought it was cool to see the thing come to life like that. Oh, and you can't forget Gullah Gullah Island and Eureka's Castle. Sure, it was toddler fodder, but I'll be damned if it wasn't hypnotizing. As far as toys, I had tons of Legos and most of the Star Wars Action Fleet models. Not because I liked Star Wars that much (although it was cool), but because it was fun to run around outside firing plastic laser beams at the other children. And then there were the video games. When I was like 4-5, my father bought a ColecoVision and a PC. Some of my earliest gaming memories are playing Donkey Kong, Xaxxon, Math Blaster and Roger Wilco's Space Quest. Good times. Good times. Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: Edgecrusher on 3 October 2008, 17:47:43 Hey, Are You Afraid of the Dark? was awesome too.
Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: Chron on 3 October 2008, 18:58:55 I forgot about that one.
It was OK from time to time, but for a "horror" show it never really lived up to it. I remember more laughter at the outlandish plots and "hip kids". Zeeb indeed. Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: Rama Olendris on 3 October 2008, 19:35:04 I didn't really play with toys much, now that I think about it. I had tons of stuffed animals, but no dolls or anything like legos. I was too busy exploring, swimming, getting lost and watching my brother play video games than playing. I guess my childhood was pretty dull.
Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: preventerWIND on 3 October 2008, 20:00:41 Reboot was Alphanumeric.
Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: Chron on 3 October 2008, 22:36:36 Stay frosty, Wind.

I was too busy exploring, swimming, getting lost and watching my brother play video games than playing. I guess my childhood was pretty dull. I played outside when I got the chance, as well. Nothing dull about running around outdoors with people. Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: Mikero on 4 October 2008, 00:55:22 ReBoot IS alphanumeric. It's not dead. I went to a whole thing with Rainmaker Studios a few weeks ago about it.
Anyway, it's Nerf or nothing. Hey, Are You Afraid of the Dark? was awesome too. YES. I was talking about it to my boss last week. Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: Vinchenz Rock on 4 October 2008, 01:09:54 I miss Are You Afraid of the Dark? Best show Family ever had.
I seem to recall this mall episode to be the scariest... but that's maybe because a lot of people say that. I can barely remember the episode itself. I do remember an episode where there was this bloody skeleton in a school pool. That thing freaked the ##### out of me. Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: preventerWIND on 4 October 2008, 01:21:57 ReBoot IS alphanumeric. It's not dead. I went to a whole thing with Rainmaker Studios a few weeks ago about it. I never said DEAD. I said WAS, meaning when it WAS airing. Now I can't find it anywhere. Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: Mikero on 4 October 2008, 01:22:57 Are You Afraid Of The Dark? was on YTV.
The mall episode had the guy in a sort of video game type scenario. Eventually he got enough points or whatever to use a special gun (that was clearly a Super Soaker 50 painted silver) and killed the bad guy with it. In the end, you heard a ca-chunk and saw a giant silver ball coming down towards him as everything restarted. Ended with the realisation that he's IN a pinball game. Wasn't the creepiest for me but was one of the better ones. The vampires moving in next door freaked me right out for the longest time. The one with that red pool skeleton was good too. About as good as the one in the fire station where the kid looks into the flame and that like releases the fire spirit or whatever and it burns the ##### out of everything. Another one that creeped me out was the one in which Amanda from Ready Or Not/Trance from Andromeda was getting babysat or something and there was this big black figure that would come out the walls and junk when no one was around because the house was built wherever it was built. Something like that. Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: ASR on 4 October 2008, 02:19:02 AYAOTD was so awesome. I remember almost all of those that Mike listed off, too. Memories, man. Especially the red pool skeleton.

I AM HAPPY I found the entire series up for download! YEEEAAAAH Posted on: 4 October 2008, 02:12:10 AAAAAAH I JUST WATCHED THE FIRST EPISODE The memories literally rushed through my head! Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: Chron on 5 October 2008, 14:23:19 You got cereal?
Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: Orange Devil on 5 October 2008, 14:38:09 I think that's what it was. But in retrospect, it tasted alot more like those little sugar packets that come in a new pair of shoes.

Anyway I think it's awesome that the guy from Are You Afraid Of The Dark? and Student Bodies is on The Weather Network now. I mean, I can't take any of his stories about, say, CFL teams training on a real grass field or a turf field based on the weather seriously because I'm standing there wanting him to have said "Submitted for the approval of the Midnight Society..." first, but it's still cool. Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: Majikn on 8 October 2008, 00:18:40 Abort. It'll never happen again. Anyway I really liked those Short Circuit things, for some reason. But they always ended early because I guess they were just filler on YTV and they cut off when a commercial or show needed to start. Maybe they intrigued me because they kept freaking cutting off and I rarely got to find out what actually happened. Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: Speed Racer on 8 October 2008, 16:03:59 That movie gets away with so much ##### Nick would never allow nowadays. Nick is so weird. Every time I think "there's so much ##### that they used to air that they would never get away with anymore", like the stuff on Ren and Stimpy, Rocko's Modern Life (Chokey Chicken, anyone?), All That, etc., they surprise me a bit. I was watching Fairly Oddparents before I went to bed (I work nights), and they got away with a masturbation joke. Still, nothing beats Salute Your Shorts. Of all the jokes and sight gags that they got away with, my favorite was the one where the kid was reading "The Best Dirty Jokes from World War II". Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: ASR on 8 October 2008, 16:15:49 Haha. What was the masturbation joke on Fairly Oddparents?
I think my favorite line from Good Burger is after Dexter tells Ed they aren't partners anymore, and Ed asks "Is it because I'm black?" Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: Johncarllos on 8 October 2008, 18:02:27 Never forget that Angry Beavers episode about "tail slapping" that is just a huge metaphor for wacking off, I think they used that line in the episode too.
Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: Speed Racer on 10 October 2008, 01:01:09 Haha. What was the masturbation joke on Fairly Oddparents? It went something like this. The parents were sitting in front of the TV watching some show, kind of like Dr. Phil. Dr. Phil: Parents, does your child use large amounts of paper towels every day? *Timmy runs by them with a roll of paper towels* Dr. Phil: Parents, does your child lock his door often and then when you call him, say "Um, I'm busy!"? Parents: Timmy? Timmy: Um, I'm busy! Dr. Phil: If your child does it, then he is a bad child! And you are BAD PARENTS. Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: ASR on 10 October 2008, 01:14:34 Ahahaha, wonderful.
On a related note, this one girl I'm friends with is like, you know that type of girl who loves and is obsessed with Invader Zim. You know, the same type of girl that has Nightmare Before Christmas memorized and thinks Donnie Darko is their own personal bible. Except, by some odd stroke of crazy, she'd never seen Invader Zim before. But I know that type of girl. So, yeah, I show her one episode and now she's constantly knocking at my door to watch more episodes and I honestly forgot how brilliant Invader Zim was. I mean, it's always been my favorite Nicktoon, just barely ahead of Rocko's Modern Life and Ren & Stimpy, and I love it to death, but it's been years since I last watched them all. Last Zim marathon I had was when I bought the DVD's. So, anyway, my point is: Zim still rocks. Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: Mikero on 10 October 2008, 03:42:59 I know THAT girl exactly. I even imagined her Nightmare Before Christmas hoodie/bag before I read that part.
I found a Rocko's Modern Life comic at the store a couple weeks ago and put it in my drawer. I have yet to read it. I haven't watched ZIM since Winamp TV first came out. Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: Chron on 10 October 2008, 04:21:02 THAT girl is one of my friends, yo.
But personally I've always liked Rocko and Hey Arnold best. Not sure why I liked Hey Arnold. I just did. Zim's got great moments though. Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: ASR on 10 October 2008, 06:01:38 The Halloween episode is still my favorite.
Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: von Teelio on 10 October 2008, 17:39:54 Ahh, I remember that comic cartoon show Kablam! T'was my favorite show as a kid.
ACTION LEAGUE. NOW! Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: ASR on 10 October 2008, 17:43:21 Action League NOW! was the best part of Kablam.
Also Prometheus and Bob. Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: Orange Devil on 10 October 2008, 18:29:56 This was probably my favorite trip down memory lane.
Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: Mikero on 11 October 2008, 03:05:45 And what a trip.
Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: Speed Racer on 11 October 2008, 08:43:52 Ahh, I remember that comic cartoon show Kablam! T'was my favorite show as a kid. Action League Now was okay in small doses; when they got their own show, I couldn't watch it. Prometheus and Bob, on the other hand, is #####ing classic. Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: ASR on 13 October 2008, 20:36:12 I never knew Action League Now got its own show.
Posted on: 11 October 2008, 16:01:02 The BEST Trix commercial EVER. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=plmFkZHjt6Y) Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: Mikero on 13 October 2008, 20:40:04 Actually it's not a Trix commercial. It's a Cheerios, Trix, Wheaties, and Milk commercial in that order. But man, I can't believe I forgot about that one!
Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: ASR on 13 October 2008, 20:42:37 It's the penultimate mondo-conglomerate multi-cereal/milk combo commercial.
Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: Mikero on 13 October 2008, 20:45:25 I see no Honeycomb, Cap'N Crunch, or Raisin Bran in there, so it cannot be the penultimate. But pretty close.
Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: ASR on 13 October 2008, 20:50:11 The closest.
Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: ChaosVortex on 14 October 2008, 04:42:17 I haven't had Honeycomb in years. Dang. I miss it.
I never knew Action League Now got its own show. That was excellent. This was on the related video section: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VJwFUNHtCJQ This was my favorite Got Milk commercial, for obvious reasons. Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! I always hated that Mario level. Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: Chron on 14 October 2008, 14:14:17 Trix good. I don't think I ever saw that commercial, but I made me laugh out loud.
i lol'd i never do that Probably the expression on the rabbit's face what did it. Personally I only eat raisin bran and cheerios, and even then only on rare occasion that there are no eggs to cook. Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: Orange Devil on 14 October 2008, 14:44:26 I remember the mario one. I remember thinking This is STUPID. That level is SO easy.
Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: Mikero on 14 October 2008, 22:21:53 Those kids are morons. Video games aren't even hard for kids. It's like how kids can use a computer right out of the box and their parents are like "Hein?!" It's their blood and their generation and their fuel and their waste and their all. It's the same reason we all had Blastoise (if you were cool) or Charizard (if you were trendy) or Venesaur (if you were THAT guy) the morning after the NIGHT we got Pokemon Red (if you were cool) or blue (if you were just OK).
And FURTHERMORE that wasn't even a hard part of the game. Proven by the fact that they left and Mario just did it on his own. Anyway Raisin Bran is the bomb diggity of cereals and if you disagree you clearly haven't tried it and are also probably some sort of neo-NAZI. Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: ASR on 14 October 2008, 23:43:49 I was a Venusaur guy, but in my defense, I literally only did it because I like green.
Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: Johncarllos on 14 October 2008, 23:59:28 I lost my taste for Raisin Bran after having it almost every day of school last year.
Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: Chron on 15 October 2008, 00:52:35 Blastoise, and I had Pokemon Blue, but I never particularly cared one way or another because I was too busy being way more awesome than anyone else.
I had Super Mario Land 2, and I let everyone know it. Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: Mikero on 15 October 2008, 01:02:01 Blastoise, and I had Pokemon Blue, but I never particularly cared one way or another because I was too busy being way more awesome than anyone else. Except me, because I was Blastoise and Pokemon Red like a REAL Pokemon Masterrrrrrrrrr! Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: Chron on 15 October 2008, 02:04:33 I've never really understood why people who had Red version thought it was so much better than Blue.
It's the same damn game, and both are easily completable with just the starter Pokeman. Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: Mikero on 15 October 2008, 02:14:45 Well, most tend to think the wild Pokemon in it were better compared to the different ones from Blue. I tend to agree, but I mostly only hype Red because it's the one I had. Pure bias. Also like EVERYONE had Blue here, and I was one of few kids with Red, so anytime someone needed Red stuff they'd come to me (actually, the other kids in my class with Red copied me later on...).
So yeah... Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: Chron on 15 October 2008, 02:18:25 And I was in the opposite situation. In fact, in most situations I was the only one with Blue.
Of course, I was an asshole and would play SML2 instead of trading anything. "DUDE DO YOU WANT A-" "No, I'm good. I already have that one." "BUT I NEED A-" "Oh, wow, look at that coin! Do you see that coin? It's silver, man. A silver coin. With a pumpkin on it. That coin is awesome." "... but-" "Such an awesome coin." Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! I REMEMBER THE MACRO ZONE IT WAS AWESOME. Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: Chron on 15 October 2008, 02:53:00 Macro Zone < Space Zone
All pale in comparison with the awesome final level though. Still one of my favorites. Oh nonononono, I was the only kid with Pokeymans Blue, but not always. Everyone had SML2. Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: ASR on 15 October 2008, 02:54:25 The ants in those games remind me of Hornet Man.
Or rather, Hornet Man reminds me of the ants. Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: Johncarllos on 15 October 2008, 02:55:00 I remember the space zone now.
That was swell. Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: Chron on 15 October 2008, 02:55:32 The overworld tune is now stuck in my head.
It's like a symphony to my ears. Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: ChaosVortex on 15 October 2008, 04:34:34 I never had Super Mario Land 2.
I had Super Mario Land 1. It was alright. Turtles explode. Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: ASR on 15 October 2008, 04:37:49 SML1 is pretty lame on all counts.
Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: ChaosVortex on 15 October 2008, 04:38:56 If it's anything, I got it in a garage sale. >.>
Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: Chron on 15 October 2008, 13:30:43 SML1 has some nice music here and there, and you can see much farther to the left and right, but the controls and other things just generally make it sloppy.
The second game is better in every regard, and I highly recommend playing it if you can find it. Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: Orange Devil on 15 October 2008, 15:10:55 I effing love Super Mario Land 2! I used to play it a ton when I was little, but I didn't beat it until last year. I got addicted for like a week. The final castle is actually pretty hard, but it's doable.
Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: Chron on 15 October 2008, 16:59:12 I first beat it on a road trip (same way I beat the first game, come to think of it, but I died WAY more in SML1). Then I realised there was an easy mode.
Easy mode doesn't actually make the final castle too much easier. Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: Orange Devil on 17 October 2008, 22:54:35 I can't imagine it would really change too much.

... yeah, that's about it. Strangely, even on normal it looks like there are enemies missing, but I've never heard of a hard mode in it. Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: ChaosVortex on 18 November 2008, 21:22:25 YES (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ygrEVnrg3Ic)
Unfortunately, I don't remember any episodes, but I liked it for some reason. Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: Fatso on 18 November 2008, 22:31:51 ##### YES
I've been rewatching that series recently. Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: preventerWIND on 18 November 2008, 22:55:13 NICE. God bless the Family channel, they're giving kids the chance to watch what we watched. And we all know they need it, especially with all this #####ing anime bullcrap going around. I hear Family actually airs the old Digimon. Kudos to them..
Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: Mikero on 19 November 2008, 00:29:03 We watched a few episodes again for #####s in high school. It was a good show, but some really stupid stuff happened in it that makes you go "Whaat?" if you're not like 10.
Same with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. So many laughs. Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: Johncarllos on 19 November 2008, 03:39:16 I watched that show all the time!
Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: ASR on 19 November 2008, 03:41:42 I hated Gargoyles.
Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! I miss this show now... EDIT: I hate you. Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Anybody remember the #####ty live action TMNT show on Fox? Trashiest thing around, they introduced a new girl turtle. Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: Winged Warrior on 19 November 2008, 09:40:02 I remember my mom buying something akin to TMNT being a rock band and doing concerts... It was a "behind the scenes look" but from the turtle's perspective.
I don't quite remember it, I only watched it once... Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: Majikn on 19 November 2008, 20:02:22 ASHGAHSJDFAJKSHFAJKLER ME TOO! I definitely don't remember it being live action. I remember there being a girl turtle in some TMNT cartoon, she had a green mask. Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: Mikero on 19 November 2008, 22:35:44 In the live action she has a cyan mask. Her name was Venus (as in, "of Milo") and she had a love story with Leonardo in which they explained that Leo, his brothers, and Venus were not blood relatives, as they were all from a pet store where turtles are just plopped together. Meaning it wasn't incest.
Yeah. OK. Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: ChaosVortex on 1 December 2008, 01:56:01 I know you'll remember this. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iKeE3saeguY)

Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: ChaosVortex on 12 May 2009, 00:55:57 Thread revival.
Anyone ever played Jet Moto? (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s3Kix7nUrJw) I just want to know if anyone ever played it and their thoughts about it. I absolutely loved this suicidal racing game. The tracks get much crazier than the one shown above. Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: Mikero on 12 May 2009, 05:03:49 Looks like a bad mix of X-Treme G and Waverace. While I love X-Treme G, I've never been into Waverace. That's just the looks though. I have no idea how it actually places.
I kind of like how the levels are designed though. The look like crap but I like that you can fall through and stuff. I'd still rather play X-Treme G anyday though, at this point. Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: ChaosVortex on 12 May 2009, 15:54:58 I thought it was pretty awesome and I'd be tempted to play it again. If you're into difficult racing games then this would be one of them. By difficult, I mean... you'll be smacking your face against countless objects, flying off your Moto, falling to your death, crashing, etc.
There's apparently a Jet Moto 3 for the PS2 but I never knew of it's existence. I'd call this Jet Moto's attempt at a Rainbow Road (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X88PCoyoNr0). Racing through Heaven in one minute, then dropping into Hell the other. I don't remember it getting THAT dark though so it must be the video. Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: Johncarllos on 12 May 2009, 16:16:49 That's absolutely insane.
I hate how floaty the physics seem to be. Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: Winged Warrior on 12 May 2009, 17:21:33 ...Yeah, well I remember when the matrix used to be so popular that everyone wanted to be a mod...
...seriously, when's the last time you saw a "Can I has mod" post from a noob? ...So I recently found out, through one of my few preteen friends... that Bellingham Middle-schoolers have a really fun game they play. They play... MARBLES. This made me rather angry seeing as the little bastard I talked to was clueless of several things including pogs... Captain planet... Who's Captain planet...? He's your hero, bitch. He's going to bring pollution down to zero! I remember my pokemon cards getting taken from me by the teachers. and my pogs being jacked by other students... but whining because the cool kid stole my marbles?! It's obvious to me that we have to take some accountability as parents, when we find our concubine of choice, to give our children overpriced pieces of cardboard and tinfoil. ...For god's sake... Marbles... Your thoughts? Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: Chron on 12 May 2009, 18:58:58 Marbles are hard.
You can throw them at people and they hurt. Unlike pogs. Or Pokemon cards. Marbles are better. Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: Mikero on 12 May 2009, 19:05:47 I don't know if I'm older than you or something, WW, but while I remember and did all those other games and watched enough Captain Planet that I was able to recite the characters' names at Dim Sum on this past Sunday morning (true story), I also played marbles as a kid.
Before middle school though, this was all well before middle school (except Pokemon cards, which I got out of quick enough and coincidentally that had lame glass beads that made me wish I was playing marbles). But really, marbles are actually a lot cooler than any CCG, TCG, MRI, FBI, NBA, or NAACP, OK? OK, well maybe not cooler than the NBA or NAACP. Anyway what I mean is, POGs really kick ass and I still have them and rock a "1994 POGs Champion" shirt ROUTINELY, but I also still have my marbles too. Marbles were great. They weren't expensive (that I know of), there were unlimited kinds and styles, and anyone would have a hard time making a cartoon or some other cash grab about them. You got to hit them against things. No, man. They made a clack sound, rolled around, hurt your friends. Marbles put on a good show. I dug and dig marbles. Somewhere down the road you lost your marbles. (Sorry, planet Earth, I had to.) Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: Fatso on 12 May 2009, 21:08:05 POGs were the #####, I wish I'd held onto them, unfortunately several moves precluded that possibility
Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: ASR on 12 May 2009, 21:23:32 Marbles are indeed cooler than the NAACP.
I played marbles, pogs, Crazy Bones, Tech Decks, and Pokemon in elementary school. I also did a little Yu-Gi-Oh for a very small amount of time. By middle school, I was done with all of that. Though maybe Pokemon carried over a bit. Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: Mikero on 12 May 2009, 21:33:28 Do you know what the NAACP is? Because marbles are no cooler than that you racist Jew face.
I didn't know you could play "Tech Decks" but I do have a couple still. And a finger BMX. Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: ASR on 12 May 2009, 21:35:54 Okay, fine, we played WITH Tech Decks. And yeah, those Finger BMX things. And there were even finger snowboards.
Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: Mikero on 12 May 2009, 21:41:25 Don't get me wrong, I like "play Tech Decks" better.
Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: ASR on 12 May 2009, 21:42:50 Just for the record, the snowboard ones were awesome because they strapped to your fingers and had no wheels so you could just leave them on your fingers and play with them effing everywhere, "grinding" tons of crap like door handles or any possible edge.
Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: Chron on 13 May 2009, 03:37:23 Tech Decks. Those were dark days, man. Back when I actually liked the Tony Hawk games.
Despite still being ridiculously good at them, I can't stand playing them for more than a few minutes now. I hate to break it to you, but... (http://images.tvrage.com/shows/3/2724.jpg) ... this show was about marbles. Anyway, this reminds me: did anyone else play Kerplunk? It had marbles. Also sticks, but mostly marbles. Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: ChaosVortex on 13 May 2009, 04:06:10 As stated before in the past, only thing I had that was marble related was Marble racing.
AND IT WAS AWESOME. Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: Winged Warrior on 13 May 2009, 04:22:47 Kerplunk, Sadly I didn't get to play with the whole poor hick family and all, but it seemed awesome!
also, Marble racing made me think of MicroMachines. I miss MicroMachines... Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: preventerWIND on 13 May 2009, 04:27:50 MicroMachines?
Machines? Awwwww #####. I'm about to blow this thread to hell- (http://wmdeez.files.wordpress.com/2007/07/maximals.jpg) THE TOYS WERE THE BEST Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: Fatso on 13 May 2009, 08:08:55 Ker-plunk = YES. YES YES YES YES.
Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: Mikero on 13 May 2009, 21:18:18 Yeah I thought about Battle B-Daman when posting, but I never considered it to be about marbles (not that I saw it really) because it seemed like they shot them out of guns or some dumb thing. If it's about marbles then fine, but nowadays you can make a #####ty american anime-style show about anything. I was talking more about how at the time in the 80's they couldn't find a way to cash grab the popularity of marbles.
I never played Kerplunk but it always looked awesome. Beast Wars/Beasties toys were great. So were MicroMachines. I am disturbed by Airazor's pose in that picture though. Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: Snare on 13 May 2009, 21:33:58 The following videos will only be nostalgic to those of us who grew up in Canada and who watched YTV. YOU DO DONT YOU PLEASE SAY YOU DO.
Again, no point watching unless you meet the above criteria. :@ This one (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7S7uW6idtYw) This one didn't make ANY sense. Post by: Mikero on 13 May 2009, 21:54:39 Oh my God.
I remember I always got mad at the guy in Gourmet Records for not liking the 80's rock song or the jazz song. And while I liked the pop song at the end, I hated it's singer. I thought The Pyramid was awesome (well I liked most of the The Mind's Eye stuff like it) but that weird fish-eye shot always bugged me. Imaginaria was always just badass. But as a kid I'd get bored of it in the middle, waiting for my cartoons to come back. It should be noted that Breaking The Ice (Love Found) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BfofOQjE2NU) was the best Short Circutz ever. I've posted it before, but it's always worth a look. Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: Fatso on 13 May 2009, 22:18:55 I suddenly feel sad that I did not have cable until early '97 :O
Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: Mikero on 13 May 2009, 22:20:27 I don't know how we afforded it.

Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: preventerWIND on 13 May 2009, 22:24:49 I used to have almost ALL the Maximal transformers.
All 3 Optimus Primals Cheetor Airazor ..Okay, so that's not a lot, but I also had a few of those ones that never appeared in the show, like an Armadillo guy. Armadillo's are awesome. I also still have Optimal Optimus, he's huge. Too bad I lost the first Transmetal Optimus, he was a shiny blue gorilla on a surfboard.. so cool.. Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: Mikero on 13 May 2009, 22:53:50 The armadillo was called Armordillo and yeah he was awesome. Most of the toys that didn't appear in the show were what they'd had planned for the protoforms if they fell. That's why toys like Airazor and I think Tigatron came out before they appeared in the show.
A lot of the protoforms were also gonna be new versions of old characters a la Optimus, Megatron, Scorpinok, etc. So there you had toys like Laserbeak (for legal reasons they had to call him Lazorbeak, was a recolour of Terrorsaur) and Ironhide reimaginings. There were also toys based on characters that appeared in the original Japanese animated Beast Wars series like Onyx Primal. They also had a lot of foresight when planning the toyline for the show or something, because Waspinator had a second head. The second head was more robotic (like a Decepticon) and I didn't understand why it was there until YEARS after I got the toy when Waspinator's body got taken over by the immortal spark of Starscream. Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: preventerWIND on 13 May 2009, 23:04:43 Haha, I had some of those toys you named off. The purple coloured Terrorsaur, Lazorbeak. I also had the variant of Waspinator which was Buzzsaw I think. It had the second head too, but it's not because of Starscream, all of them had different heads, Optimus had an optional mask that looked like some alien/Maximal symbol. Cheetor also had an optional head.
I used to have the comic book Optimus and Megatron, they were a bat and an alligator and came with a mini beast wars comic book. But anyway, I never liked how Waspinator was the host for Starscream, I mean, it's good and all. But Terrorsaur WAS Starscream, ya know? Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: Mikero on 13 May 2009, 23:37:33 I only had Waspinator but I don't remember my friends' Cheetors or Tarantualsses or anything having extra heads, but OK. Either way, the robot head with Waspinator was the exact one he had as Starscream.
Onyx Primal was originally a Nemesis version of the bat form of Optimus Primal, but that was abandoned and they make Onyx Primal into a character who was a Predacon turned Maximal, much like Dinobot. Terrorsaur was similar to Starscream in that he wanted to take over and his voice (and when Starscream appeared in the show they used Terrorsaur's voice actor). He was, however, completely unlike Starscream in that he was a colossal idiot. Starscream isn't really smart or anything, but Terrorsaur is borderline retarded. Also Waspinator was far more popular, and thus Terrorsaur was killed off instead. But yeah, Terrorsaur was much more like Starscream. Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: preventerWIND on 13 May 2009, 23:55:26 Bahaha, everyone in that show acted stupid, it was a real kids show in the sense that it was filled with a lot of comedy.
Like when Rhinox beats all of the Pred's by FARTING. Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: Mikero on 13 May 2009, 23:57:05 It was funny but no one was as stupid as Terrorsaur. Not even Waspinator or Inferno.
Transmutate was smarter than Terrorsaur! Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: preventerWIND on 13 May 2009, 23:59:28 TRANSMUTATE WAS FREAKY AS SHIIIIIIT. Terrorsaur died in a pit of liquid fire, good for him.
Man, everyone you're naming off I had a toy of. I had Inferno, what an awesome toy, as well as Tarantulus Transmetal, man, he turned into a motorcycle, that's intense. Always wanted the Rampage toy. Ever since he turned into a truck and trashed the Maximal base OFF A CLIFF, I loved him. Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: Mikero on 14 May 2009, 00:05:21 I wanted to get Inferno to go with Waspinator, never did though.
I wish I had the toy they made for Ironhide though. I mean, I wish I had it RIGHT NOW. It's awesome. For starters, he turned into an elephant. That should be enough. But second, it's IRONHIDE. The Rampage toy wasn't that great, though. At least, I don't remember it being that great. Transmetal Tarantulas' best feature was that he turned into a motorcycle. Otherwise he was just Tarantulas. Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: preventerWIND on 14 May 2009, 00:10:54 Dude, the BEST thing about Ironhide was that he Megazorded with 2 other guys and made some huge Destructicon thing.
The Preds had one too, Predaking or some such bull#####, I can't remember the animals/insects that went into that guy. Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: ASR on 14 May 2009, 00:18:44 You guys are making me wish I watched more Beast Wars.
Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: preventerWIND on 14 May 2009, 00:21:10 Wait. It was Tripredacus, that was the name of the Megazord Predacon! And that's so wicked, because the Tripredacus appeared in one episode as 3 shadowy council guys. And the Maximal guy was named Magnaboss, how cool of a name is that?
I <3 Beast Wars Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: Mikero on 14 May 2009, 00:26:54 Ironhide with Prowl and Silverbolt (a different Silverbolt from the Fuzor) combined to make Magnaboss.
The Predacon combiner was essentially the Tripredacus Council. Seaclamp, Ramhorn, and Cicadacon where the council and they combined into Tripredacus, but licensing issues made it so their actual forms and names couldn't be on the show so they were just shadow figures. And they're called combiners in Transformers. "Megazord", sheesh. Edit: Didn't see the other posts... You guys are making me wish I watched more Beast Wars. Combiners didn't happen in the show anyway. Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: preventerWIND on 14 May 2009, 00:31:33 I've recently started saying "Megazorded". Of course they're not Megazords.
Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: Mikero on 14 May 2009, 00:32:28 You're damn right they're not Megazords.
By the way, Predaking is a combiner from the first generation of Transformers. And the "Destructicons" is a name for a small group of Generation 1 Decepticons lead by Megatron. Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: preventerWIND on 14 May 2009, 00:35:28 Careful there, you could sense a bit of disrespect to Megazords.
By the way, Predaking is a combiner from the first generation of Transformers. And the "Destructicons" is a name for a small group of Generation 1 Decepticons lead by Megatron. Y'know, you come off as really teacher-ish. Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: Mikero on 14 May 2009, 00:41:51 The Megazord I like. All the pretenders after it suck. And any Megazord ain't ##### compared to a single Transformer. So combiners are even more awesome.
Y'know, you come off as really teacher-ish. I know a lot about Transformers. Mostly Beast Wars though. I've avoided the trailer to the new film so far but I might have to watch it 'cause apparently there's a bit of Ravage in it, and I really like Ravage. Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: preventerWIND on 14 May 2009, 00:46:55 I really like how they did Ravage. Hurry and check it out.
They also have a few CG pics of the transformers, The Fallen looks.. good, they kind of did the same thing to him as they did with Frenzy. Devastator looks nothing like how he is in the TV show, NOTHING. I LOVE Sideswipe, nothing you'd expect, but the design is just kickass in general. The Megazord I like. All the pretenders after it suck. And any Megazord ain't ##### compared to a single Transformer. So combiners are even more awesome. The Ninja Megazord made for a nice 2nd place. Especially with the falcon attachment. Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: Mikero on 14 May 2009, 01:16:29 That is true, which is why I'm OK with the second PR movie. That falcon made it pretty cool.
Anyway I looked at the released pic of Ravage, not from the trailer, you know with the white/no background and stuff. He looks sick. Some people complained, I've heard, but I'm really digging him. I'll check out more released pics soon, but The Fallen is interesting. His face is like the Decepticon symbol nearly exactly and he's got like lava flowing through him. I don't know or really want to know that much why they chose to do a movie about him, considering he serves under one of my favourite bots, UNI-#####ing-CRON, but he looks interesting enough. I've really avoided a lot of the new movie stuff just 'cause I've not heard anything good. I don't know what you mean by "they kind of did the same thing to him as they did with Frenzy". Devastator was in the first movie. Well not really, it was Brawl they called him Devastator in a subtitle. So them having Devastator in the movie is kind of stupid to me, theyn should have just left it alone. There are other combiners they could have for Constructicons. The new Devastator looks kind of fan made, but maybe it's just a crap picture.. I'm not really digging it. Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: Snare on 14 May 2009, 01:17:56 BOOOORING!!!
Let's talk about something I like! Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: Mikero on 14 May 2009, 01:22:35 You don't like robots that turn into cars, planes, HELICOPTERS, bikes, HELICOPTERS, trucks, beasts, TRAINS, or HELICOPTERS?
What kind of boy are you? Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: Snare on 14 May 2009, 01:23:48 NO I DONT CARE MUCH FOR ROBOTS OR TRANSPORTATION
I always wanted an Easy Bake Oven. :( Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: preventerWIND on 14 May 2009, 01:25:55 I don't know what you mean by "they kind of did the same thing to him as they did with Frenzy". I mistook Frenzy for Soundwave for a bit there, disregard what I said. But what I did mean was that they made The Fallen a bit too slim. Personally I was expecting a giant flaming robot(hah) for The Fallen, but this is good too. It's also a shame Soundwave isn't going to be in it. :C I also dunno why they're bringing him into it, when I heard what the title was I just thought it mean revenge of the Decepticons, I didn't know they'd bring The Fallen into this. And they'll probably bring in Unicron pretty soon, and I think it's just a bit too early for that. You don't like robots that turn into cars, planes, HELICOPTERS, bikes, HELICOPTERS, trucks, beasts, TRAINS, or HELICOPTERS? ASTRO-TRAIN SONNAVA BIIIIITCH Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: NovaMan XP on 14 May 2009, 01:26:24 NO I DONT CARE MUCH FOR ROBOTS OR TRANSPORTATION Let's get you one for your birthday then. Or a real oven. Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: Snare on 14 May 2009, 01:27:06 Actually. I'd like a real oven. My current one barely works. I tell it to cook potatos but they stay all raw and unpleasent.
Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: NovaMan XP on 14 May 2009, 01:28:07 You probably have to sound more demanding.
Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: Mikero on 14 May 2009, 01:31:20 Astrotrain is SO awesome.
NO I DONT CARE MUCH FOR ROBOTS OR TRANSPORTATION THEY ARE ROBOTS THAT TURN INTO OTHER THINGS AND FIGHT WITH GUNS, WHAT DON'T YOU GET ABOUT THIS?! An Easy Bake Oven could be a transformer! An Autobot... Or really disturbing Decepticon. Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: preventerWIND on 14 May 2009, 01:33:27 Much like the Mountain Dew machine and the 360 in the first movie. Ahaha..

Before you tell me it was a girl's toy, I saw a BOY on the BOX use it. That's my excuse, so there. Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: Majikn on 14 May 2009, 04:39:53 Snare, of the three Short Circutz you posted, I only really remember the last one. The second one, vaguely. I don't think I ever saw the first one.
I remember Mike's. The ones that come to mind are the bumblebee and the duck and the salt and pepper dancing one. I don't have the names of them. This one's worth posting, I think: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n-mbg7a5ycs Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: preventerWIND on 14 May 2009, 04:42:38 That reminded me of a scene from an episode of Reboot..
Oh, hey. Reboot. How 'bout that Reboot? Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: Winged Warrior on 14 May 2009, 04:53:34 I Thought the same thing when I posted "micromachines" STEEV
Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: ChaosVortex on 14 May 2009, 04:55:23 I watched Reboot more than Transformers. Loved watchin' that after school.
Bob would always play a great character during a game or something, until one episode he got the crappiest role. A thief. Not having a good day in that episode at all. Everyone was pulling out their swords and weaponry. I remember him having a line going something like like, "Now, prepare to taste the wrath of my... butter knife?" OH THE HILARITY Weird how that's the scene I mostly remember from the show. Everything else is a blur. Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: ASR on 14 May 2009, 04:57:44 Mighty Max, guys.
Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: Winged Warrior on 14 May 2009, 05:02:33 SHADDUP ASR. YOU RUIN EVERYTHING.
Remember the #####ing Mighty Max Cartoons guys? ...Oh god, that just reminded me of "Archie's Weird Mysteries" ...ASR, you do Ruin everything. Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: ASR on 14 May 2009, 05:14:28 The way you captialized "Ruin" there really hurt.
Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: ChaosVortex on 14 May 2009, 05:24:57 So when we say you Ruin everything it hurts, but when we say you RUIN everything it means nothing...
Huh. Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: Mikero on 14 May 2009, 05:38:09 Right. I know ReBoot better than I know Transformers.
I know all the stories of designing the characters (and believe me the initial designs were horrendous) and such too. I know what they're trying to do with the property now. In the fall I also went to a workshop on ReBoot at the Ottawa International Animation Festival. You guys are opening a big box here if you keep talking ReBoot. I'm warnin' ya. I also watched a lot of Mighty Max. I watched Reboot more than Transformers. Loved watchin' that after school. TO WIN THE CHALICE LISTEN TO ME, ALL IN ONE, ONE IN ALL, THAT'S THE KEY. Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: preventerWIND on 14 May 2009, 05:40:52 "MIKE!!!!"
I'd like some info on the last episodes though, after MB came back as a trojan there was like one episode after that. That's all I saw anyway. So if you know so much, deeeetaaaails. Though I'm pretty sure we've talked about this a few times before..? Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: Mikero on 14 May 2009, 05:50:57 Megabyte takes control of the Principal Office and tells everyone to "prepare for the hunt". The series ends on a cliffhanger.
That was actually the DVD movie "My Two Bobs", which was separated into the last season, like the movie "Daemon Rising" before it. There was supposed to be one more movie (5 episodes) after it along with another musical deal but it didn't work out. Now, they're doing really bad comics directed by fans. They're really bad. Also, they're trying to write three movies for theatres but it's not that likely they'll get made and/or be good if the comics are an indication. Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: preventerWIND on 14 May 2009, 05:59:18 Right, you told me about the fan made stuff.. It's too bad it ended on a cliffhanger, the least they could do is let the series end properly. Oh well.
Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: ASR on 14 May 2009, 05:59:58 My favorite thing about Mighty Max, as I'm pretty sure I've stated before, is the ending.
Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: Mikero on 14 May 2009, 06:03:59 I still have the toy set of the magma monster.
And the skull with Frankenstein in it. And one other one but I can't remember what it was right now. Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: Winged Warrior on 14 May 2009, 08:08:37 Mighty max was the boy's version of polly pocket.
There, I said it. I remember when I watched reboot, I lost cable for a long time. Long time in kid years atleast... All of a sudden, the little boy with the hover scooter was a man, a man with one eye and a beard. And he was looking for bob. I was like "wat?" I stopped watching out of confusion. Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: Mikero on 14 May 2009, 08:45:20 Obviously Mighty Max was Polly Pocket for boys. Everyone knew that. That didn't make it less awesome.
The boy was Enzo and the man was Matrix and it's Bob and "what?", jeeeeez! Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: Vinchenz Rock on 15 May 2009, 08:43:59 Again, no point watching unless you meet the above criteria. :@ Holy crap. I don't remember the first and third one very well, but the second one just opened a memory leak in my brain or something because I never thought that I would be remembering these old videos. Yeah, I remember Short Circuit now. The Pyramid short... I remember it because I used to hate it. I don't know why but I hated it. I hated so much, that I'd make my mom change the channel whenever it came on. I hated it back then but now it's somewhat of a portal to my childhood. It's very nostalgic. Wow, now I'm going to think about these for the next few months until I forget again. Also ReBoot was awesome. Too bad they don't show it anymore. It's been several years now, but it's not that much of a childhood memory especially considering the fact that I was still watching it when I was in High School. Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: AlexThePenguin on 27 May 2009, 21:32:27 Mighty max was the boy's version of polly pocket.I found Polly Pocket exceptionally boring. I used my barbies as dress forms for making clothes before cutting their hair off and scribbling on them with Sharpies. I always preferred plushies. The ones from my childhood all have velcro 'scars' from where they were hung on the wall. Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: ASR on 27 May 2009, 22:00:58 Mighty max was the boy's version of polly pocket.I found Polly Pocket exceptionally boring. So were Mighty Max toys, and you lost the pieces immediately, but a kid's mind works like this: "Ooh, toy! Cool! Want! Mooooom!" Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: AlexThePenguin on 27 May 2009, 22:35:42 No, it's more like, "I want thiiiis, and thiiis, and thiiii-- NO YOUCAN'T HAVE THAT I WANT IT MOOOOOOOOM!!"
Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: ASR on 27 May 2009, 22:57:39 I had the TV on Nickelodeon for the first time in forever yesterday, watching the end of some Fairly Oddparents movie, and I saw this hilarious commercial for THE ROCKET FISHING ROD or something.
It was so dumb and so stupid but so awesome. Like, it's a fishing rod that just SHOOTS the hook out and launched it really far so you don't have to cast. And it looks like a Nerf Gun toy, all plastic and bright, but it's apparently a real fishing rod. It's the kind of thing that if I saw that commercial as a kid, I'd have been all "OH MY GOD THAT'S SO COOL I WANT IT" even though I hated fishing. ALSO, I forgot that commercials on kids channels that advertise a website all end with "ASK YOUR PARENTS PERMISSION BEFORE LOGGING ON!" Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: Mikero on 27 May 2009, 23:18:19 Mighty max was the boy's version of polly pocket.I found Polly Pocket exceptionally boring. WRONG. Mighty Max was awesome and not boring if you were the appropriate age and losing pieces took more time than that! Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: ASR on 28 May 2009, 01:26:27 Hey, as a kid I had NO IDEA they were boring! They were so awesome back then!
But I found some of my old ones a while back and laughed because they were such dumb toys. Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: AlexThePenguin on 28 May 2009, 19:03:15 I think I have a Polly Pocket around somewhere. I'd give it to the daycare (if I could find it) except for the size of the pieces.
I still have always preferred plushies. I was a little strange as a kid: Imaginary friends, toilet monsters, and plushie siblings. I had real friends, too, though. We would play Power Rangers vs. Godzilla or Princesses vs. Lizard Men. I recall also that I always thought I looked too much like a boy, so I went through a time when I would ONLY wear skirts. I also earned myself the nickname of Cat Princess in elementary school. I was recently reminded of this when I ran into an old schoolmate I haven't seen in years. Speaking of which, seeing old schoolmates in adult life (friends aside) is almost always awkward. I'm not sure why everyone thinks we were such good friends when they very clearly wanted nothing to do with me then. I was also mentally advanced. My ADD kept me out of Gifted and Talented. I honestly understood (and was conversing about) rocket science and forms of theoretical physics before I knew what algebra was. That and evolution of species, coupled with the six degrees of separation theory and that I didn't know who my father was. The proir, of course, being the general base for the nickname, though it was a specific conversation that caused it. I loved reading, too, and didn't have any videogames growing up (kid of a single parent college student = broke!). Booksmarts were my only friend when I switched schools. I did love being Godzilla, though. :3 Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: Mikero on 28 May 2009, 22:21:44 Please explain "Cat Princess" further, because you kind of just started explaining that and then dropped off.
Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: ASR on 28 May 2009, 22:24:00 Yeah, there's like a billion different possibilties there, and I like most of them.
Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: AlexThePenguin on 29 May 2009, 05:42:26 An attempt to explain Darwinian evolutionary theories coupled with my not knowing who my father was.
"So, you're saying that you evolved from a cat, and you think your dad might have been royal? Does that you're a cat princess?" "No, I'm saying that this theory states that we, as a species, evolved from cat-like and monkey-like creatures long ago [I simplified it quite a bit instead of explaining Darwinian evolution properly]. That, and not having concrete evidence of who my father means that, theoretically, I could be a king's daughter or a famous musician or really any man who was old enough at the time." "Whatever, Cat Princess." Yeah. I was a little too booksmart. Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: ASR on 29 May 2009, 15:37:33 I'd beat you up at recess.
Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: Mikero on 30 May 2009, 02:22:28 I'm pretty damn smart and all, but I have to say I think most kids would have known that those should have been two separate conversations. Would have saved you a lot of grief.
That sounded a LOT meaner than intended. Title: Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! Post by: preventerWIND on 30 May 2009, 02:27:17 Appropriate response: Attack

Would have saved you a lot of grief. They were, with two different people. Someone was listening in on the side to both (for some reason). |
