I've never played X7 so I don't have an opinion on it. Although Axl's in it so I know it sucked.

So I went with my next least, X3.

X7. Any respectable person would say the same.

Obviously X7 is the worst, but this topic wouldn't have any meaning if everyone chose X7. Which they'd probably do, I'm going by the games I've fully played. CM and X7 not being part of the bunch.

Though CM does look interesting, RPG's just don't interest me anymore.

But why X3?
Surely you've played X5 or X6 or even X8?

X3 had too much pointless crap in it IMO. You have to collect ride armors and chips? Come on, I never needed that ##### to take out the butt-chin. And I don't need it now.

Save for the Z-Saber, I liked that.

And I've actually enjoyed X5, X6, and X8. But I'm not going into that, as I've already stated that many times. And getting into it again would be walking into a underwater shark infested mine field with bear traps.

And a Chron.
So yes, we'll leave it at that.

Maverick Hunter X and X8 were actually enjoyable, although it did have a few issues.

A few not being less than three though.

And X7 is gonna take this poll by a landslide.

What's the point of this poll?  Anyone who does not select X7 doesn't deserve to be allowed in a Mega Man Community.

And by that same token, how do you pick one turd out of 4-5 turds as the worst?  X5-X8 were bad games.  MHX changed too much from MMX, but by god X1 was so good I can't outright right off MHX, so it's a toss up.

I'm proud to be not a part of said group by casting my vote at the vomitous X6.

Whether Rez turns green from this or not, I feel that both MHX and X1 are nearly equally good in terms of gameplay.

What I hate though, is the story nerfing and the choice of platform. I prefer playing Mega Man X with a controller in my hand on a TV screen. There's more room on screen. It's the same issue I have with Powered Up concerning Old Style and New Style. The story change definitely irks me the wrong way. Mainly Sigma's motive, but Vile's motive wasn't so hot either. He hated X. That's it.

Zero's death was even watered down. He had a dramatic death in X1 (complete with blood), and it was changed to crap.

For those reasons, MHX is hardly an improvement over X1. Definitely.

And I wouldn't say X8 is bad (I'm ignoring the story here). I'd rather play X8 over X5-X7, but I don't feel like replaying the game right now anyway so big whoop.

MHX is inferior to the original if only for the changed upgrade locations.

Cut scenes bummed me down in comparison to the original. When X first met Light in MHX, it didn't feel the same.

Especially since now they HID the first capsule you find. Lame.

And Sigma's new motives made absolutely no sense at ALL.

I actually thought that scene was pretty good, I was expecting more though. I just thought the script needed work on that scene. When you walk up to Zero's body, he basically tells him "i told u so lol", although that would have looked a lot better when in MMX2, Sigma tells X "You let Zero die, and he didn't like that" or whatever.

But there wouldn't be a MHX2 so #####it.

The game was fairly fun though.

Sigma's second form was obscenely easier in MHX than MMX.  You can close your eyes and hit the PSP against the wall and beat it without using a subtank.

I'd rather just hit the PSP against the wall.

That is loads of fun.

Especially when it's not mine, and I just took from some random mega-asian* on the bus.

*A "mega-asian" is a North-American born and/or raised kid who is by heritage Asian, but despite being actually raised in NA they act all super-Asian all the time and only hang out with and date other Asians and only listen to music from their ancestors' country of origin and join webpages like "Azn friends network" and are surprised when a white kid and a half-black half-white kid aren't part of the "Azn friends network" as if it made any sense.

I agree, the first form was a little more fun though, since he dived down at you when he was bouncing and you were under him and he shot lasers out of his head.

He actually shot at you in the original, it's rare though.

X5, X6, X7 and X8 are all bad games.  Though how anyone can call X8 good or find ANY of them worse than X7 is beyond me.

X8 is good.  The game was fun the music was awesome, the only gripe I had were the 2 stages and Axl.

X6 had it's moments. Certainly not the worst of the bunch.

X8 wasn't as bad as 6 or 7, though it could have been a lot better.

Here's the stuff I found bad in X8..

•Weird art style
•Level's were poop
•Armor was ugly
•Axl

The cover of X6 made me wretch enough that to this day I have not played it or any of the ones after it, not including CM.

What was wrong with X8?

- Awful stage design.  AWFUL.  All of them.  Without exception.  X8 took everything X5 - X7 did wrong and rolled it into one game.  The levels were each poorly made "themes" that stiffled your playing to some degree, in some cases rivaling Metal Shark Player's stage.  There was not ONE single good stage in X8.

- 2 man party system was broken and poorly implemented.  It was bad enough changing characters between stages, but IN THEM?  It removed any reason to play as one character as stages were made to be played by switching.  Remember X4?  Some parts were easier with X, some with Zero, and it really extened the gameplay because each character required you play the stage differently.  X8 does not.  It's the same.  Every time.

- 3 playable characters.  Same problem X7 had.  Axl serves no purpose.  He does not offer anything different X or Zero already gave.  He's a 3rd wheel fan character that kills the dynamic between X and Zero.

- Buying your upgrades do not belong in an X game.  I'm sorry, you are not allowed to disagree.  Finding your 8 heart tanks and 4 sub tanks was half the fun of the game and worked quite well.  X8 just adds so much unnecessary GARBAGE that gets in the way of the core gameplay.

- The music was among the worst in the series.

- The change in art direction was like vomit in your eye, and the only reason it isn't the worst thing to ever happen to X and Zero is Mega Man Zero.

- All of the complete and totally RANDOM ##### put in the game to make it "cool".  Vile.  Why's he back?  No fanfare when he dies again.  He was just there.  No reason other than VILE IS COOL LOOK!  LOOK! X8 IS GOOD AGAIN!  The utterly mind bogglingly WRONG use of the word Maverick.  But getting into that is a whole other discussion and not necessairly in itself X8's fault.

X8 isn't awful, certainly no X7, and I can entertain the argument it's better than X5 or X6 (it's not), but you can not say it's a good game, because that is an out and out lie.

I would pefer to get my heart tanks and #####.

But the music is awesome and IMO one of the best of the series.  Still doesn't hold a candle to X1 though.

I've not liked the music in the X series as well since X2.  Each game had a few tracks at least that were good, though X7 and X8 just made my ears bleed.

If I could make quick comments...

Actually... there's quite a couple I liked. I just missed some sort of actual side-scrolling gameplay, and a lot of the stages supplied that.

Of course, other offered cheap gimmicks that I hate to replay, like bike riding, elevator riding, etc.

I can agree to that. While swapping in between characters I felt was a nice idea, it would've been better as a sequel if you just went alone. You can thank X7 for that implementation.

Agreed so much. If there's one thing I downright hate about the game, it's the cruddy storyline. Everything made little to no sense at all.

I've never played X7, X8, (I guess I should be thankful?) or Command Mission. But since the apparently horrible X7 is out of the question for me, I'm gonna have to say X3. I do like it, but out of all of the ones I played, that's my least favorite.

X3 is my least favorite of the SNES games.  I watned to like it, but it's just not as good as 1 and 2.  Music was bleah, Sigma was fail, secret armor was #####.  Stage design wasn't bad, but just not up to par with 1 and 2.

Yeah, X2 had some really cool stage design. And I love how the Sigma battle can be neaten in one try. X2 is defiantly my favorite. (I know, wrong thread.)

Megaman X4 Hands down. Loved the cinematics. Only problem was X's voice actor.

And you somehow think it's worse than anything that came after it?

Oh come on.  He clearly said the only problem in X4 was X's voice.  That's MUCH worse than say, X6's horrid nightmare #####, X7's in it's entierety, Axl, or X8's awful stage design and general direction.

I don't think anyone who played X7 can honestly say any of the other games were worse.  And not be lying.  Or dead inside.  Or suffering from an extreme learning disorder.

Yeh I have and do own X7 still. It was pretty bad as well. I still need to get X8 but have been lacking it because of a pc game im addicted to. If any of you played X8 is it better or as bad?

It depends.  If you're just straight up comparing X8 to X7, then good lord, yes it's better.  Though you have to quantify that by saying just because it's better than X7 doesn't mean it was a good game.  It has a whole host of issues that are just as bad as some of X7's sins and I can say that even with X5 and X6's issues, both were MUCH better games than X8.

After playing X7, X8 was like a breath of fresh air.
Still not a very good game (maybe not a bad one, either); I tend to equate it to X6.

Playable, has some cool stuff, fun things to do, but also has more than enough problems to make you want to not play it again for a long while.

I can't compare X8 to X6, unless you mean the story. The story is horrid.

But in terms of gameplay and enjoyment, it was nice and welcoming. Aside from the fact that 2 of the stages were gimmicky junk, it was enjoyable to play. It's definitely better than X6 and X7.

I'd say it's close to X5 with me. Last time I played X5, I got a little bored and a little annoyed, but that's because there are some similar problems. Thing about X5 though, the storyline is less crap, since Inafune actually wanted X5 to exist, unlike anything beyond X6.

Your best bet in the whole series is X1-X4. I only suggest X5 and X8 to those who want a little more. X6 was a disappointment, and I own X7 but haven't played it all through. It just sits on my shelf as a collection item basically.

But to be fair, I'm aware that's like taking dog poop, putting it on a base, calling it a trophy, and then placing it in glass for all to admire.

They're both... playable. X7 isn't. You don't even wanna do all the endings. You beat Sigma and then you just drop the controller and then you're out. Smarter people than me dropped the controller before that.

I might find time for X5 or X6 or X8 somewhere in my life, but I'd still rather go back and do the other games for my fix.
Still, I played each of those an equal amount.

ONLY 2?  Sorry, try again.  Almost EVERY stage was a #####ing gimmick.  Teleport Maze stage?  Mini Game Cyber Space Stage?  Get chased by Giant Robot Stage?  LOL Stealth Stage?  X8 had the worst stage design in the series outside of X7's 3D mess.

Compare X8 stages to comprable ones in other games.  Optic Sunflower vs Cyber Peacock.  Peacock's stage was still a quick and enjoyable action romp through each section.  Sunflower had tedius stop and clear the room for 2 minute mini games that just killed any sense of progression.  Infinity Mijwhateverthe#####hewas vs Earthshock Trilobyte.  Sure, Infinity's stage was annoying, but it was stright forward mostly action.  Trilobyte is back and foreth stop and go bull #####.  It goes on and on but you get the point I'm trying to make.  While a lot of what X8 did had been done before, the fact X8 did it so POORLY contributed to the awful stage desgin and execution.

You're right there, but I guess SOME of those were actual platforming fun, like what I expect from a Mega Man game.

Then you play that, snow level, I forget who was the boss. That was a huge disappointment.
