In the Game Informer interview they said that they designed heaps of potential robot masters (at least one of which was female) but they cut them down to eight based off which designs and elements fit well together, and no females made the cut this time.

It's not a bad game, I absolutely love it! It's just that there's less customisation than I usually expect from an FF game.
There's a few things that aren't linear; you can choose which ability roles you gain first (although at the end of every area they're all going to be full anyway), and then you can pick between 2 weapons for each person (so far), and choose which weapons to level up (not quite sure how to use the upgrading feature most efficiently yet, either). I'm yet to use the "shops" for anything, as of yet, but I'm sure they'll be useful later?
Also, did I mention that everything is so pretty?
And Hope is a whiny turd. Everyone else is awesome (Chocobo chick!), and Vanille's accent isn't as bad as everyone's made it out to be.

"Playing" Final Fantasy XIII, 10 hours in and still waiting for a chance to do something other than walk in a straight line, continually press X in battle, and have some choice as to what to fill on the Crystarium (cough, sphere grid, cough). Not much of an FF game, but it's great as a semi-epic drama, and everything is SO PRETTY.

I always wondered why they went to all the trouble of creating an engine as innovative as Portal's and then wasting it on a 3 hour gameplay experience. Multiplayer will be great, especially if they get some co-op going; I don't see deathmatches working too well since it's such a puzzle-oriented gameplay experience. On the other hand, Capture the Flag (or Capture the Weighted Companion Cube) would be great.

Note: I loved House of Leaves, I just don't like how people think it's the only/best book of its type. I thought House of Leaves was great in the same way Donnie Darko was. They abandon proper storytelling method in order to tell a story properly.
And Donnie Darko isn't like that?
Yes, it is like that. That's my point. Except whether or not you like Harry Potter, people enjoy it legitimately. As in, even if people don't like it, it's more because it's not their thing rather than it being bad. This is completely untrue. I enjoyed reading Harry Potter, but it was terribly written; sometimes the writing was painfully bad. Read the epilogue in Deathly Hallows and tell me again that it isn't as bad as Twilight.

Lovecraft, Mieville, etc.

Edit: I feel House of Leaves is a bit overhyped, though, and everyone goes on and on about how fantastic it is as though there's no other books in the world; it's harry potter all over again.

I'm so writing that quote at the end of the bibliography of my next essay. Yeah, I was laughing because it's speculation, even in the reasoning for why they chose 2016 they admit that they estimated that Cain's computer was 2 years old. ca. 2371-2400: In order to ensure that the violence of the First Maverick War, the Elf Wars, and the Second Maverick Wars do not recur, a truce between humans and Reploids is agreed upon. Furthermore, Reploids agree to have lifespans and humans begin to have mechanical parts integrated into their bodies. In essence, the difference between "man and machine" become negligible as humanoids emerge. The ones who do not choose to follow this truce are branded Mavericks. Also during this period nations emerge, such as Innerpeace. When did that happen? Is it a ZX thing?

Yeah, everyone who's seen the trailer (that I know personally) thinks it's rubbish. There have been a few positive comments, the 3d animation looks fantastic, and the costumes (sans Roll's hair) are great. The main problems are the dialogue, the stiff acting, and... everything about Roll.
