MegaMan Matrix / MMM General Forum / Re: Thank You MMM

Hi friends, it's been a while. I hope you are all doing well. Being able to come back here is a real privilege, so thank you Abe.
I'm a new-ish father now and it's a wild ride. I don't know what it will look like in another 5 or 6 years but I hope to introduce my son to some of the things that made me who I am, like the Blue Bomber.
That's it. I won't rehash my feelings but I hope stories like mine contribute to making it worth it to keep this place alive.

MegaMan Matrix / MMM General Forum / Thank You MMM
|

I'm feeling a little sappy and nostalgic tonight so I've decided to pay tribute to the community that made me who I am today.
I can't remember how or even when (8? 10 years?) I came across the blue checkered floors of the MBoard. I was a kid. A legitimate child. I grew up with the MMX series and only really played X1 and X3 and the BN games. I remember lurking around under the guise of Guest before taking the plunge and finally registering under Chaud21xx. Seems appropriate now considering my history with MegaMan but back then it was just because I thought Chaud was the ##### and the original name was taken.
Even as a registered user I remember continuing my habits of never posting and never contributing. As a 10 something year old child I was deeply afraid of being judged by these adults who took pleasure in casting out those who "talk3d lyk this" and abbreviated you as "u". I remember pouring over user posts trying to understand and mimic the styles of the respected community members. Eventually something gave way and I started to post. I knew I had to type properly or else I would be crucified and so I did. While my friends at that age were typing like "idiots" there I was, capitalizing my letters and adding proper punctuation to my sentences. Eventually this became a habit of mine and I began to converse with people who I thought were way older and smarter than I was.
Soon enough I was engrossed in the community. A vast majority of my time was spent between these blue walls and I loved it. I've met some of the smartest (I'm looking at you Delta), most cynical (Insert all the old guard here), talented (Morgan... You brilliant artist you!), funniest (Someone linked me the fake essays MastaFuu wrote back in the day and was surprised when I told him I knew the creator from long ago) people here in the forums and all of you helped shape my childhood for the better. I wasn't exactly unpopular in school or a loner by any means, but I always found myself happier surrounded by the blue glow of my monitor.
Years passed and as the MegaMan series that brought us all together peaked and fell we stayed together (mostly) as a single community. People moved on as they do but there was always new blood fresh for the harvest. Eventually a select few of these newbies would be welcomed into the fold and we would converse about everything as though we were old friends.
In a perfect world I would still be on the blue checkered floors to this day conversing with everyone about the next MegaMan game or making an ass out of a newbie. Unfortunately all MegaMan empires must fall someday, and while MMM remained strong for many years, it too eventually succumbed to the ravages of time.
What we have now is a relic. A message board about a singular video game series with no links to any semblance of social media. It's old, dilapidated and relatively empty, but, when I look at it I still see the shiny blue checkered hallways that lit up my monitor and consumed much of my childhood. Friendships have been forged, broken and then wrought anew in this domain and I owe a large part of who I am today to it.
So thank you MegaMan Matrix. Thank you for being both a home and a teacher I didn't know I needed. Thank you to everyone who magically came together to form this razor sharp edged community of cynics and fanatics. When I'm going through rough times I always seem to find myself looking back at MMM and really cherishing the chance I had to experience this community and everything it had to offer.
If you're ever around my parts and want to have a drink or something feel free to find me on the Facebook group (Sorry Abe! The offer still stands for the curmudgeons who refuse to use Facebook though!).
Thanks for everything MMM.

Go wider.
When they tell you that they're not looking for help that means they typically take around a few weeks to a month to look at your application and even then there might be a pile and you might not look the most intriguing from the bunch.
Personally, I printed out 10-20 resumes and literally went door to door asking if anybody was hiring. If they weren't I asked if I could just leave my resume with them and they took it most of the times. Then again this was like two weeks ago and only Old Navy's called me back :|.
But yeah, some suggestions would be:
EB Games and Gamestop etc, Comic and hobby stores, grocery stores if you can find some good ones, and never think you're above fast food.
And of course below that pile is the hell known as retail.
Good luck, have fun. It's a learning experience and $$$ if you can land a job.

Do you know who I am?
You must not know who I am. That's what happens when you change your username to something completely unmemorable.
Agreed but it's not like Chaud21XX was much more creative either.
You all didn't know how it felt having Chode as a nickname. Besides that was a screen name I conjured back in my prepubescent days. I feel much more like myself now. But I digress, welcome back Morgan McGuyer. But then, I could have done a lot worse for myself... Like Space Tarzan. Pfffffft. There are no trees in space where would he live?!

Y'know I'd love a port for Digimon World for the PSP or something. Not really a sequel, just a port, since all the sequels completely sucked.. Man I wanna play that game...
My digimon kept evolving into sukamons. BUT I STILL PLAYED THAT GAME.

The whole "RESTING AT AN INN RESTORES YOUR HP AND MANA BUT NOT REALLY" is really annoying. I want to be able to res my characters by sleeping in an inn. That makes sense doesn't it? Especially when they DON'T SELL PHOENIX DOWNS.
Wha 'chu talking about? They get healed completely.
And just go to the holy springs to revive your characters.
I can't find any holy springs and 3/4 of my party are dead. You see the inn is supposed to recover your parties HP. BUT IT DOESN'T. The first PW?
I should get that and the third already. The second was great.
I hear the first isn't as hard as the second? No idea if that's true, but it would be good for me since I won't have loads of time to play it after a week.
It is general opinion that the second one was quite weak compared to the first. I like them equally just because the last case in the second game was so awesome.

Yeah... My parents got me an expensive watch for my birthday last year. I appreciate the money they put into it and whatever, but I've never worn watches like ever.

Lately I've been playing Megaman and Bass and Final Fantasy III. I'm liking both of them pretty well. Megaman and Bass can be pretty damn hard at times though. However a challenge is great though.

Urgh, does anyone have a list of good DS games that can be played cooperatively or are just party games that are fun with friends?
Delicious /cake/... HEH. (Sadly no one will get that reference. Maybe except for Rez.)
I got that reference... Delicious cake is in somewhere but I forgot where, so if you type it you are a dumbass. I got that from Portal: The flash version, where it has an "A" written in different color. It is (a) delicious cake. you must eat it! M I RITE?!
I think /cake/ is a 4chan reference, sluggo.
Actually the whole "THIS IS A DELICIOUS CAKE, YOU MUST EAT IT" originates from 4chan. But /cake/ is entirely different. Mike is close, and we will end it at that.

We really don't care about the technicalities, what he says makes a lot of sense (most of the time) and it's pure lulz.
Lewis Black would crush him in an instant.

Delicious /cake/... HEH. (Sadly no one will get that reference. Maybe except for Rez.) Mario 64 was the #####. Sunshine was garbage. You know I really don't know anything about this new age Mario game. Is it like Mario in space? Because I think they already covered that in one of the old game boy games.
I personally really liked Sunshine, I REALLY don't see why so many people hated it.

Edit: Maddox sucks,
Nope. He's right. I'm not saying it's not fine to use the phone or have it for free or whatever but it's not as good as it's hype.
Not saying he's wrong, just saying he's trying wayyyyy toooo harrrd to be funny.

Oh, I just flick it to G4TV when I'm bored out of my mind, and it's either Ninja Warrior, X Play, Attack of the Show, Code Monkeys, or Paid Programming.
I keep trying to watch AOTS for something funny/informative, but I always just seem to end up staring at Olivia/FakeBritishGirl's rack.

Mostly WoW m'self. Since I'm not at home right now I've been playing a lot more Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin. I really want to finish the 3rd Phoenix Wright but I can't seem to force myself past the 2nd episode. ;~;

I would let her foolishly fool with my foolish fools if you know what I mean.
Edit: Maddox sucks, so anything material is better than anything he has said. And I still haven't really opened it yet, but it can't be worse than the free Motorola model I'm currently using. And I'm not really losing anything here if it does turn out to be terribad, compared to losing copious amounts of blood from being stabbed.
You FOOL.

South Park. Corner Gas. Trailer Park Boys. Keys To The VIP. Supernatural (sometimes). Battlestar Galactica (sometimes). Code Monkeys (sometimes).
Corner Gas is amazing, it's such a shame I never seem to have the time to watch it... I really have mixed feelings with Code Monkeys, it tries too hard to be video game-esque and I don't really recall it being funny. The IT Crowd is hilarious though, even though they have $#@!#ing English accents.

Anything goes, from anime to dramas, as long as you are watching it.
Avatar: The Last Airbender Gundam 00 House (once the writer's strike is over...) The Big Bang Theory (AMAZING. Partly because its nerdy, and partly because Kaley Cuoco is my goddess)

I thought about the question again.
I miss Digimon. Seriously.
My friend and I had a big conversation about this while camping this summer.
I still say the Digimon Adventure 01 was the best, but the next two (02 and Tamers) were pretty good too. After that I didn't care, all the new stuff was pretty crap.
Second season was my favorite, followed by 01 and Tamers. God those were good times

Ventrillo, but you don't have to hold something to talk, it doesn't sound like #####, and you get video.
Push-To-Talk is a blessing. And it only sounds bad if the server you're on is bad.

Mega Man has had a good run. I really don't think 20 years is bad for any series and there comes a point where you really can't do much more than Inafune/Capcom. Sure they could churn out sequels for Legends/X/Classic but the fact is is that it's never going to be good as MM2/MMX4/Legends1&2/xxx.
