My copy of House of Leaves will arrive this Wednesday. Just in time for my trip to Arkansas to visit my wife's family (which I'm not even remotely interested in doing).

I would have picked it up when I was at Barnes and Noble the other night, but I try to get hardcover copies of books whenever possible, and ordering it was the only way to get one.

I'm the same way with hardcover books. I hear they made a hardcover version of Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency AND The Long Dark Tea-Time of the Soul in one book, so I'm definitely going to search that out since my paperbacks of both are worn and torn from who-knows-how-many readings.

Even my hardcover Ultimate Hitchhiker's Guide is falling apart.

But yeah, have fun with the book, it should make your trip a tad more exciting.

Severus is a weird name in general.

In Latin, it directly translates as "Grumpy."

It's not so much that, it's the order of the names-or rather the sound of them-that irks me. It's like they named the kid without listening to the name in their own head. It just sounds stupid.

Oh, I won't defend that. I just don't think it was as terrible as people say, as in it might've been better off without the epilogue, but reading it didn't upset me or anything similarly negative. I thought the naming was weird, of course, but I'm okay with it. Neutral, I suppose.

I think that was one of my problems with it. After billions of pages of story, nothing really changed in the wizarding world, for the status quo is god.

Hrm, this sounds interesting, and I will get around to reading it, but since moving back, I discovered a couple books I started reading, but never finished.

Plus, I am near the end of Dirk Gently.

Page 115 right now and I'm entranced, but it's ruining my brain. So much to read and look at and learn about, considering the book is a research paper about fictional things with fictional sources.

It's interesting to me. But I don't find it so scary.

Very confusing at points, though most of the confusing looking stuff can just be glanced at.

I do not recommend this book for when you're tired.

I spent like 5 hours today reading it.
I'm damn slow....

It's not so much scary as it is disruptive to your psyche. It'll make you feel uneasy if you spend too much time reading it and getting lost in the labyrinth of pages.
