My brother was cleaning out his room and found a huge pile of Electronic Gaming Monthly magazines that we'd amassed over the years. We never subscribed, but we always got them when we went to an airport for the plane ride. Always. We had about 30 of them. I looked through them and photographed some highlights.

I also have every Nintendo Power between 1996 and 2003 or something. But there's no way I'm digging through those.

The ads back then used to be really insulting. Like "If you don't buy this game, you're a moron!" This one was a rather aggressive pro-PC-gaming ad.

This is just a THIN slice of the nostalgia overload I went through. I read through about 5 of them in their entirety. It's a lot different when you're actually reading the magazines. Ads which you never used to really look at now scream out at you and things like Holiday Shopping Guides showcase millions of odd N64 controllers (boomerang controller?!) or weird carrying cases and gaming gadgets that you completely forgot about or never even knew existed.
The best parts for me were all the speculations on things that weren't out yet, like the XBOX or that CGI Final Fantasy movie.

I have the first EGM to include a Hsu and Chan comic, too, which is pretty sweet.
