My least favourite is 6 as well. It is MORE bland than Abe just said, and if you know you're MM production history you can see why; It was just shelled out.
For whatever reason, Capcom kept making NES MM games for a while after the SNES debut of MMX, and people were losing interest or something. Basically the thing was, they could knock out NES MM games really fast and make ATM speed cash off them. Yes, Capcom was ALWAYS like that. By the time they got to number 6, innovation was so far out the window it was a complete rehash. Beyond the formula of bosses. Beyond the standard fire, electric, ice/water, rock/dense substance, cutting type RMs. Every part of it was nothing new except the Rush adapter stuff, which MM7 did many many times better.
I actually find MM8 very enjoyable to play. Obviously the art of the earlier games isn't there as much, but I find the game pretty fun.
