Confirmed - Dr. Light turns children into robots.  He's the Robotnik of Mega Man.

“Time Keeps Slipping,” Part 2. Dr. Wily has vanished! Roll has been kidnapped! Dr. Light is in federal custody! What’s Mega Man to do? The blue bomber teams up with Cut Man and Bombman to investigate the ruins of Wily’s castle and search for clues, but what dangers await within? And who are these two, new, powered-up Robot Masters?"

One thing I really like that they're doing is making the Original Six good guys and not killing them off. Kind of reminds me of Mega Mix.

I was afraid that comics would not be good enough for the Mega Man universe, but now reading the comments, I have to find   8)

For anyone who doesn't feel like picking up individual issues, the latest issue of Previews shows that there will be a graphic novel collecting (what I assume is) issues 1-4.

Posted on: July 10, 2011, 09:35:09 AM

In issue #3, they used lyrics for The Megas (a Mega Man cover band) "Message from Dr. Light"!

Neat idea but it still reads like a song and when people just SAY lyrics at you in real life it is an extremely awkward and lame affair...

That's my favourite song by The Megas. The other ones never grabbed me as much. They're either amusing or just... bad. But THAT one, I like a lot.

Hey, the way that the blog explains MegaMan's buster, what's to stop him from mighty morphin' both arms at once?

I was going to wait for trade paperbacks of these, but Mega Man's state at the moment has driven me to subscribe.  I've really been enjoying them, I might end up buying any collections they put out anyways to share with other people.

Just read book 3.

Archie really did their homework. There is some really smart, really well thought out referencing going on in these comics (Light creating the Magnet Beam for example. I had the widest smile when I saw that).

Though I think Mega Mix is far better as far as pacing and writing goes, the Archie comics are pretty well done so far.

A little off topic but I thought it'd be neat to bring up I bought a piece of art from the Megaman series.

Anyone willing to guess what it is?

Take a look.

I'm not hatin' or anything, but the blue lines really help to show how stiff that artist draws, which can be really detrimental (it results in flat, awkward, and uninteresting pieces).

They seem to have gotten past some of that with the ink, and I know that's sort of how MM has been done for twenty-six years, but it bothers me (because I'm trained to look for it, not because it's that bad).

Kind of lame that the story must be told in four issue arcs. I think five would have been perfect.

Ah well, at least it progresses the story faster. It seems like it'll catch up to MM10 in a few years.

And the fact they're doing the collections ever 4 issues makes it pointless to buy the individual issues.  The volumes are INFINITELY easier to keep on a book shelf.  Individual comic issues are a pain to keep.

I wouldn't bother. The main thing I had to tell people when working at the comic store, whenever some character "died" (re: Captain America), was that collecting comics is basically worthless now. Nothing new is ever worth any money to a seller. Collecting for yourself is fine, whatever, but they only depreciate in value. They don't make rare comics anymore, so no comics are rare.

I'm with Rez on the trades tip.

What's with the choppy layering? This is reminiscent of really cheap 90's photohop work, especially with the bad 3D models, Donkey Kong Country-style.

I like the seal though.

So, they're up to Mega Man 3 or so in the games and they're introducing Bass in this Cross Over?  And it's suppose to be canon in both series?  Archie dun goofed!

But seriously, this looks like complete ass.  And 12 issues?  F that.  Looks like one big block of 4 issues I can skip on MM.  Shame too, as the Archie MM was actually getting somewhat good in it's own right all in all.

Yeah, it'll be interesting working him in there. Of course the series is ultimately its own continuity so there's always leeway of some sort. I could buy it either being set further into Megaman's future and thus why Bass is there or Bass will be activated/built early and play a role in the story but never actually run into Megaman to keep it in continuity.

What'd everyone think of the last issue? The "Rock of Ages" story.

Loved it. I was really happy to see one foreboding green robot. I wonder how or if he'll ever be dealt with in a real manner.
