Yep :D

I REALLY wanna see Cloverfield. We have a 90% chance of a Snow Day tomorrow so I'm gonna go see it at the first showing.
It's gonna be sick.
I hope.

I'm kinda' mad because all my friends opted against seeing it tonight, and we're busy all weekend. I got myself all hyped up for it, too.

Even if I don't care too much about it, especially in comparison to all those obsessed fans, it's still one of the more interesting titles to be released lately, and it's one I want to see pretty badly.

I guess there was a whole online thing with it, which I guess is neat, but they always suck. Really bad.

I'm not gonna' lie, I devoutly followed the LOST ARG between the second and third seasons, but I lost interest about halfway through the summer. It was pretty neat.

NOW I REALLY WANT TO SEE IT EVEN MORE.
Since it's a snow day here, and I don't have a ride, I'm gunna have to walk a few miles to go see it.

It's wintery mixing, so it'll be snowy rainy sleety hail-y.

OKAY.
I watched it.
It was great.

Some non spoiling tips-
Right at the VERY end of the actual film, with the view of Coney Island, watch the sky on the right, not the beach or the ocean.
Also, sit through the credits and right as they are about to end the music stops, listen really closely.

Worth the price you'll pay for it but it leaves you wanting more.

It's already 5:50 anyway, and I'm not too keen on going on my own anymore. I'm the kind of guy who needs someone there right after the movie to go "HOLY ##### THAT WAS AWESOME" with.

Agreed. I enjoy movies much more when I share the experience with someone else.

I have to admit, while I'm apprehensive as hell, I'm tempted to see Cloverfield based on what I've heard.

One of those guys tried to cuss us out once back in middle school 'cause we were talking a bit into the coming attractions for Scary Movie 2. He was wearing a bucket hat and was fat so I decided he was a knob. I stared him down.

There have only ever been two movies where I would have gone alone to, and both times I was lucky enough to find someone willing to go indulge in my odd tastes.

Those were the Hitchhiker's Guide movie and The Golden Compass. I actually saw The Golden Compass twice, each time with a different girl that I knew would be easily sucked into all that stuff.

My friend hit me on the way out of Hitchhiker's Guide because he thought it sucked, and yet there I am walking with him talking about much a thrill it was to finally see the movie adaptation and how I could die happy.

My feelings for the movie have since died down a bit, but I think I was floating on the way out of the theater.

I saw Cloverfield again; not as jaw-dropping as the first time, but still pretty #####ing awesome. I also saw The Orphanage, which was an okay movie. I thought the pacing was a little too slow, but it had a good storyline and was beautiful to look at...very well done.

I liked that music, too. One guy insisted on standing there through the credits before we could clean it so we basically stood there and hung out, listening to the music. And then I heard it and I didn't really give a rat's ass. It didn't make any sense to me at the time, and now I don't even remember what it was. And I didn't bother to stay 'til the end AGAIN 'cause I'd already seen it.
WE HAVE A BITE!
I like that there aren't any stupid sound effects to make you jump and stuff. It seems like thrillers these days abuse that ##### to no end.

Just got back from Cloverfield.

It was pretty decent, and did a good job of making NY feel claustrophobic.

Did anyone else find it ironic that the man with the camera was named Hud?

I didn't find it ironic, but I did notice that. I didn't consciously make the connection with the camera, though. My absent-minded thoughts on the subject were more or less "There's something fitting about that name" but I was still paying more attention to the movie itself.

I'm pretty sure that was done on purpose, although I didn't realize the connection until I was on my way home from the midnight showing - I wouldn't have realized it without having played the Descent games years ago.

Cloverfield:

The movie was awful.

First, while the characters weren't bad, the drama bomb plot concerning them was absolutely BORING compared to the ##### awesome that was the monster attack and it's little friends that was going on in the back ground.

The camera was so #####ing shaky that it made me want to vomit. Badly. Wholly half the movie was excessive "shaking the camera" to hammer home the fact it was an "armature filming" angle. And when it wasn't being spun, shaken or waved around, the camera was pointed at the guys feet or wall. They could have kept the camera much more stable and STILL kept the feel they were aiming for.  Really, not even the most retarded, brain damaged paint huffing special Olympic runner up type with parkensons would jolt the camera as bad as the people in this movie.

This idea worked for Blair Witch because it was largely not dependant on the background goings on, but this movie was done on the epic scale of monster destroys city. And the monster was fairly interesting. I was far more interested in what it was, how it got there and how the fight against it was going than these idiots running around.

I'd say the movie was bad. It would have been OK for what it was if they'd handled the camera better, but as it was, I just think the movie took one awesome concept and one boring as ##### concept and made you sit through the boring one while dangling the awesome one just out of reach for 80 minutes.

I think it's sticking to realism when it keeps you away from that information, really. A lot of secrets are kept from the general public, so it's not surprising that there's no immediate explanation of the events available to these people, and it'd be lame to have some explanation tacked on all half-assed-like after the end of the tape.

But yeah, a lot of people got refunds due to motion sickness, so I can concede that point.
