Thing is, both movies say the girl died "yesterday", but then contradict each other later.

Saw the new X-Files movie.

I'm not sure what I think. I liked it, but I would say that you should just wait for DVD or whathaveyou unless you really want to see it. It's not bad, it's just kind of... Not that X-Filesy. I definitely liked it though. Just not all that creepy or super-paranormal or anything. Lot more story than action, which I didn't mind.

I really wanna' see that but I've already decided it'll be the sort of thing I watch on DVD or OnDemand or something.

I was never too into X-Files, but I definitely loved watching it. It used to be on Sci-Fi channel a LOT, and if I wasn't doing anything, I'd sit down and watch, but never made a schedule or routine out of it.

I'll probably like the movie but I can wait.

Also, be glad you didn't have to see Step Brothers. Terrible movie.

Hopefully I'm seeing Pineapple Express tomorrow. Or wait. Apparently it isn't out yet.

The first X-Files movie was pretty crap, enough that I've almost completely repressed it. This one was better, I think.

I've heard good things and bad about Step Brothers, so I don't really care.

Pineapple Express I'd like to see again, but I'll wait. I think I see movies multiple times in theatres too often. I saw Knocked Up with at least twice in theatre and like a billion times on DVD and have to take a break from it. Deciding wether I should include the commentary in that break.

I saw Knocked Up for the first time on DVD, loved it, and then completely forgot about it. I rediscovered it not too long ago, and I'm glad I did.

I rewatch movies a LOT. I have a tally-mark count on the inside of the DVD case for Shaun of the Dead, and the number of tallies is embarrassing.

Basically, I don't mind paying $20 or so for DVDs because I get a LOT of use out of them. Other people in my family buy a DVD, watch it once, and it lays around for a while. Eventually I'll grab it and add it to my own personal collection, where I'll get some real use out of it. I hate renting movies because I know I'm going to watch them again sometime soon, but not immediately.

Lately I've been taking advantage of Blockbuster, though. 4 semi-new movies for $20 is the best deal around, and 2 new movies for $20 is great, too. I usually just wait 'till they move into the other bin, though.

Hell, I got Dead Like Me Season 1 in a 4-for-$20 deal there. Best value ever.

My mom never watches a movie more than once I will never understand that. She has DVDs that are actually still in the shrink wrap. I also watch movies a ridiculous amount of times but I don't keep track.

Back in the day, I used to play VHS tapes enough that they'd break completely.

Shaun of the Dead is the only movie I keep track of. The number is actually less than the real amount of viewings because I only started keeping track after realizing I watch it a LOT. There are probably at least 10 more viewings that I don't have marked down.

The only movie I might've watched more is The Sandlot. As a kid, I would watch it OVER AND OVER and it would drive my parents crazy.

Same. Loved that movie too much. If I could, I would have watched it for. Ev. Er. For. Ev. Er. For. Ev. Er. For. Ev. Er...

Never bothered with the sequel, since it has nothing to do with the original.

The sequel is the ONLY movie I actually stopped watching in disgust. It was ridiculous and stupid and offensive to a great movie.

I still don't own The Sandlot on DVD, but I still have the original VHS from back in the day.

My reason for never getting it as that whenever I see it on DVD, it's paired as a double-feature with the crap sequel.

I actually re-watched The Sandlot about a month ago. Still holds up after all these years.

I have to admit in a guilty-pleasure movie favorite of mine.

I love Zoolander. I don't know what it is about it, but I love that movie. There's so many parts that make me laugh every time, like
"WHAT IS THIS? A CENTER FOR ANTS?"
and
"I was the fat kid in my class." "EW!"

And I know it's just another stupid movie, and I usually don't care much for Ben Stiller, but something about Zoolander just makes me love it.

I'm not an ambiturner!

For the last two years, on September 29th, I made up a holiday and spread it throughout our school called National Zoolander Day. Where you can't turn left all day. You can do a full rotation clockwise until you're facing the direction you want to go, but you can't just turn left. And at the end of the day we all sit and watch Zoolander.

Nobody really took it seriously for the whole day, but it caught on with people who'd seen the movie. I put it on a Facebook event last year and it spread to other schools. I got curious and searched today, and somebody already has "International Don't Turn Left Day" set up for this September 29th.
I don't think it's a copy, just somebody else who had the same idea.

Haha, yeah. Apparently this one guy didn't even turn left in his car all day, either, which is dangerously cool.

Posted on:  4 August 2008, 03:04:18

Oh. Sweet. Okay. So.
Apparently my dad bought "Death Proof" on DVD a while back because it looked interesting, and he never watched it. For those who don't know, it was Quentin Tarantino's movie from the Grindhouse double-feature he worked on with Robert Rodriguez. I never got a chance to see that, but I had really wanted to.
So, anyway, I just find this movie sitting around unopened, and my dad forgot he had bought it.

So I pop it in.

Unbelievable. I have never gotten such an adrenaline rush from a movie before. Tarantino sets up the PERFECT setting for a no-rules car chase at the end of the movie, and throws sexy filler and interestingly long dialogue into every other crevice of the movie. Just a movie made for maximum fun in the viewing.

Death Proof. I highly reccomend it. Now I have to go watch Planet Terror, Rodriguez's half.

I watched Death Proof a few months ago.
It was enjoyable, regular Tarantino film making.
The acting wasn't too bad either, considering Zoe Bell was just the stunt girl for Uma Thurman in Kill Bill.

I watched all the special features of the movie.
I know a bit about it.
You have to love how easily the guy went from a power hungry nutball to a crying baby, considering he thought that was fun.
Looking back, that was one of the best scenes in the movie, the end.

I didn't like the girl who gave the lap dance. At all.

Maybe in the theatrical release, as the Grindhouse double feature has pretty much the abridged versions of the two movies, which separately they aren't as bad.

I suppose.

Or your heard from somebody who doesn't like crazy car chase/shoot 'em up films.

Planet Terror really does look stupid, but I heard it was made to be cheesy.

Death Proof, however, I really knew nothing about. Most of the advertising for Grindhouse was centered around Planet Terror and the girl with the gun-leg.

The best thing about Death Proof is that it REALLY got me into it, it REALLY got me feeling excited and thrilled and got my adrenaline pumping.

I didn't like the girl who gave the lap dance. At all.

Why? What didn't you like about her? I liked her character, and she was drop-dead gorgeous to boot. I don't normally talk about girls' bodies, but she really had like a perfect figure, not that I expect that of girls.

It wasn't that, something about the way she acted felt cheesy.
Almost as bad as Tarantino's part in the film.

I could've bought Planet Terror today for $5 but I chose not to. That one didn't seem to interest me much. I would never have bought Death Proof on my own, either. Not the kind of movie I'd see and go "I should get this."

HOWEVER, I got really lucky and found BOTH seasons of Chappelle's Show for $10 each, and quickly nabbed them up.

I also got a movie I've never heard of before, called Big Nothing. I only got it because it has Simon Pegg in it (and David Schwimmer, but I don't care about him). And it was $4. So, it's not much of a loss if it's bad. I have absolutely no idea what it is.

Posted on:  4 August 2008, 21:12:07

Okay, I watched Big Nothing and was PLEASANTLY surprised. A great $5 purchase.
My first thoughts were "Simon Pegg speaking in an American accent? What?"
He sounds a lot different, but it's cool.
The movie is basically the typical "fools committing a crime and getting into more and more trouble as the film goes on" fare, but it's actually really creative and it has likeable characters. There are also plenty of funny moments and it's all-around entertaining.
The sheer amount of genuinely creative twists and "un-twists" as I've dubbed them is kind of impressive.

I've never heard of this movie before, it apparently came out in December 2006. Was it in theaters? I have no idea how this slipped under the radar. I definitely reccomend it.
I give it a 7/10.

I want to see Pineapple Express tonight. I've heard good things from my friends (back home who invited me but I couldn't go because I'm stuck up North and very bored), all of which whom have no taste in movies and will usually like anything, but it's still good things.

And also from Mike, who has great taste.

And Rottentomatoes has it at a 69% which is awesome because it's 69 and that's awesome.

...

Anyway, I watched Thank You For Smoking and absolutely loved it. Great, great movie. 7/10 in my book. Maybe an 8. Actually, yeah, probably an 8. Whatever, doesn't matter, that still means I loved it.

Also watched some crap movie called The Ultimate Gift with some rich snob whose even richer grandpop dies and makes him work for his inheritance from beyond the grave, and there's also this little girl with cancer who dies and it still wasn't sad.
