Hmm. Tim Burton's doing an Alice in Wonderland movie.
Supposedly, 19 year old Alice flees an arranged marriage, and falls for the Hatter.
Johnny Depp is doing the Hatter, of course.

And here is Alice.

I'll probably definitely watch it too. I really like few adaptations of it though. I really dislike the Disney cartoon, but loved the Disney live action show called "Adventures In Wonderland" when I was young.

"The chameleon Hollywood actor..."

No. Gary Oldman is a "chameleon" actor, if anyone.

Johnny Depp just looks like Johnny Depp in geisha Make-up and a carrot top wig.

I'm pretty sure I don't like this movie.

I liked Johnny Dupe before. Like, I love Edward Scissorhands and some of other older work.

But Tim Burton's mancrush on him, combined with things like Pirates and Depp winning some "funniest" actor award thing when up against actual comedies (namely Superbad and Knocked Up) have just made me loathe anything his name gets hookwormed onto.

So I finally saw How To Lose Friends And Alienate People.

I actually really, genuinely enjoyed it. I mean, I always like anything with Simon Pegg, even Run Fatboy Run, which I admit wasn't that good but I still liked.

But... I genuinely enjoyed this and thought it was very good. Definitely one of Kirsten Dunst's better roles, she was great in it. Oh, and Pegg was #####ing amazing in it. He really is a great actor.

I've heard that the actual memoirs of Toby Young are a lot less fictionalized than the movie, but even so, I'd really be interested in reading them, now. I really admired the character of Sidney (Toby) Young in the movie.

Posted on: 24 November 2008, 10:05:30

Just as excited to have FINALLY seen Zack and Miri Make a Porno. I was sure it was out of theaters already, but I'm home for break and there's like 8 theaters around where I live, so it turns out my friends and I found a theater that was still playing it and all went to go see it.

Definitely a keeper.

EDIT: Oh, and I just wanted to add: even though there's a whole segment of the movie devoted to Zack and Miri coming up with fake porn titles for movies... they all suck. I mean, "Lawrence of A Labia" was good. But that's about it. Everything else was so lame that if I had thought of it during one of my similar discussions with friends, I probably wouldn't have even said it out loud. That's really my only problem with the movie. Since, you know, fake porn titles for movies is a passion of mine.

I love watching uncomfortable movies with my family. My mom was like "Let's all watch a movie together!" and she found Forgetting Sarah Marshall on Comcast OnDemand.

I was all "Oh, yeah, let's watch that!" knowing full well that there are about 7 full-on ##### shots.

Saw Bolt today with some friends.

I really liked it. John Travolta's voice worked pretty well. Coulda' done without Miley Cyrus, but she was only in like 20% of the movie.

But yeah, back to Bolt.

It was just, well, really good. I loved the animation on how they got the mannerisms for all the characters just PERFECT. You'll see what I mean. It's got a lot of active and hyper characters that really just come to life. I especially liked Penny's agent.

There was a nice little Finding Nemo reference, too, which further confused this whole thing with all my friends thinking it was another Pixar film. Which it's not, by the way, for anyone who still doesn't get that. But it's definitely up there quality-wise. I was extremely impressed.

It was a lot of fun to watch. Never a dull moment, truly. Kids are going to go NUTS for this movie.

Damn emo kids.

My neighbors have a bunch of them, keep then it little stocks, and let them run around in their backyard.

I don't know how many times those big bastards knocked down my fence, running fast, and breaking my windows with their beaks!

Making loud, booming, drumming noises all hours of the night!

They broke my cat's PSP!

They ate my prize bug collection! Do you know how hard it is to get a Bogong moth this time of year?!

My lawn is always getting eaten and dug up by these bastards.

I can't wait until spring, when my neighbors are finall gonna take these things to the butcher.

I HOPE.

Okay, wow. I thought this was really neat. I've been inadvertantly throwing my ticket stubs from every movie I've seen in a drawer in my room at home all year.

The only movie I've seen while at college this year was Quantum of Solace, and that stub happened to be in my sweatshirt pocket. But everything else I saw at random theaters while at home.

I lined up all the tickets, they start in January with Cloverfield and go all the way to today with Four Christmases (don't ask, I had to see it with my parents.)

Cloverfield (1/24/08)
Jumper (3/07/08)
Harold and Kumar 2 (4/26/08)
Forgetting Sarah Marshall (5/10/08)
Hancock (7/08/08)
The Incredible Hulk (7/10/08)
The Dark Knight (7/17/08)
The Dark Knight (7/29/08)
Pineapple Express (8/08/08)
Tropic Thunder (8/13/08)
Tropic Thunder (forgot the date, ticket stub at school)
Quantum of Solace (11/16/08)
Zack & Miri Make a Porno (11/26/08)
Bolt (11/28/08)
Four Christmases (11/29/08)

I thought it was really cool, especially since every ticket reminded me of a completely different story as to what was going on that day.

Nothing. The list is irrelevant. The movies are irrelevant. I just like that I accidentally ended up having the ticket stub to every movie I've seen all year.

A: a fair representation of the movies that were/are worth seeing

It's nothing special at all. It's cool that it's all claymation and Jack is a pretty cool character but aside from that it's not that special. But you can at least understand why it's the sort of thing that would develop into the cult following it is today? It's just got all those qualities that make teen girls obsess over it, even if I can't properly identify those qualities.

Ha. Yeah. And I just realized that Wall-E is missing, too. I saw that the weekend it came out. Must've lost the ticket. There's probably another one somewhere that I forgot, too.

EDIT: Oh, and Iron Man! Duh. Wow. Not as exciting to me now that I'm missing some.

I saw it for the first time recently too. With people raving about it you'd think it was the best thing ever made, but I only thought it was okay. I only really liked one song, and it's the one I heard long before I saw the movie.

Apparently it being claymation made it the first of its kind? That might have had something to do with it.

When I first saw NBC all of those years ago I thought nothing special of it. When I saw it again recently about six months ago I still thought nothing special of it.

Good movie to watch, but, like Rocky Horror, it shouldn't have the fan base it does.

I can at least see why people could really obsess over Nightmare Before Christmas, because they're the same sort of people who love Invader Zim even more than I do and shop at Hot Topic. It's a group of people.

But Rocky Horror Picture Show... no. Never.

Rupert was one of the best shows ever.

I like all the Nightmare Before Christmas Songs enough. I like the characters more than the actual story. Like I loved them in Kingdom Hearts more than I even like the movie. My boss has the soundtrack at the store, and I really like Oogie Boogie's song where he's like "You're joking, you're joking, I can't believe my eyes! You're joking me, you gotta be, this can't be the right guy! He's ancient, he's ugly, I don't know which is worse. I might just split a seam now If I don't die laughing first!"

Honestly, it's just a fun little movie with a couple catchy songs.

It seemed a lot better when I was a kid, and it first came out.

Me and my dad even saw Tim Burton sneaking out of a book store, where people were trying to get his autograph.

I had no idea who he was/what he looked like/just wanted to use the bathroom anyway.
