Resident Evil: Degeneration is what every Resident Evil movie should have been.

I suggest anybody who even slightly likes ANY of the games watch it, as it's damn near perfect.

I got both House of the Dead movies but haven't watched them yet.

But THIS is clearly going to be the best movie ever!

It's a comedy, advertised verious seriously. It at least looks like it has good special effects.

I want to watch The Rocketeer right now.

What's with 2009 and bad movies?

I know, stuff like Watchmen is coming out.. but this and Dragon Ball count as like 20.

I thought Resident Evil: Degeneration was okay. It had plenty of need stuff, but I was hoping that you'd get to see more zombies and blood all over the place. The animation was excellent. There were plenty of times throughout that I forgot I was looking at a CGI film. Overall, I'd give it a B-, but I can't really see myself watching this movie a lot.

I didn't feel like there were too few zombies.
I figured it was just about right.
Especially the fight at the end, that was swell, and very videogame-y.

Some scenes looked entirely lifelike in the film, and very few things looked cheesy.

Strangely (especially with the subject matter), it shows a bit of maturity for Kevin Smith. I really liked it.

Finally watched Planet Terror last night. Very enjoyable. I feel like I was INTO Death Proof, but I can't decide which was better, and thus I decide not to pick one.

I'm currently in the process of digitalizing my entire movie collection onto my shiny new terabyte external hard drive.

It's going to take a while.

Saw Repo. Was an alright movie.

The music (it's a musical) was excellent, however. And there was lots of blood. LOTS of blood.

Paris Hilton is in it. But even her singing was alright (though her acting still sucks). She doesn't die but her face falls off so its good.

Definitely worth at least one watch, at least.

However, the movie is only being played at certain theaters (like 15 in the US?)(The movie is being played at Bytown if you're interested, Mike). But the DVD is coming out the 20th I think.

And yet I've been hearing consistent reviews of how she did such a good job acting because she practically plays herself.

I don't know about the music being excellent, from what I've heard of it (Youtube). But it's listenable, I like it enough to be interested.

I do like Sarah Brightman though. Good singer.

Just finished watching Stranger Than Fiction for the first time since I saw it in theaters.

SUCH an underrated movie, absolutely fantastic.

It's Will Ferrel's Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. I still don't know how he pulled it off.

That wouldn't be an exaggeration. I don't watch movies much. Especially Disney. I hate a lot of Disney's works outright.

But if Pixar is involved, I consider it 'cause I know it'll be worth my time.

It's not even the childhood memories - Disney just has top-notch quality control. Sure, Pixar's flicks stand out as the tip-top of quality in recent years, but there isn't a single animated Disney movie that you can really say is BAD. The Lion King and Aladdin and Mulan and Hercules and so on and so forth... every one of them is fantastic. Even newer ones like The Emperor's New Groove and Lilo & Stitch are awesome in their own new-age way.

Even as an adult, they'll always follow through and leave you satisfied.

Beverly Hills Chihuahua. And yes they did.

Disney just has top-notch quality control. Sure, Pixar's flicks stand out as the tip-top of quality in recent years, but there isn't a single animated Disney movie that you can really say is BAD.

WRONG. Every sequel movie is a pile whether or not I liked it as a kid (i.e. The Return Of Jaffar). There are horrible quality control issues in their FEATURES such as The Little Mermaid, Alladin, and others that they've had to change in releases. A lot of their older films have completely racist or sexist characters and phrases that they've either changed in releases or pretended that the films just don't exist.

There are actually a LOT of bad Disney movies.
Go watch Dumbo, Pinocchio, and ESPECIALLY The Black Cauldron (which is like the worst Disney Movie ever, and deservedly) and then try and tell me how good they are. Even Jungle Book and Cinderella are sucky now, and were basically just alright in the first place.

Every Pixar movie is perfect in every sense of the word.

Wrong. (no capitals)

I'll give it to you that over 95% of their stuff is amazing, but not perfect and they've got some movies that aren't up to scratch. Like Cars which is at best an OK movie but has weak storytelling and characters and the visuals aren't as strong as their others. It's still a great movie, just not as good as their other stuff.

I'll never see A Bug's Life unless I have to.

Pixar has less movies than Disney (although now Pixar owns majority share in Disney), but only like 2 released Pixar feature movies aren't good.

Beverly Hills Chihuaha. And I said animated, anyway.

Disney's made plenty of foul live-action films, especially if you count the Disney Channel... though some of those are awesome if you were the right demographic when they first came out. Smart House anyone?

EDIT FOR MIKE'S POST:

Cars and A Bug's Life are actually my two least favorite Pixar flicks, but I still love them, and they're still good movies. But Cars was one of the weaker ones. A Bug's Life was just... it has a different vibe than the rest of Pixar's library.

And fine, I'll give you that maybe not all the old animated Disney movies were as good as I'm making them out to be. I just have a soft-spot for 'em.

I just watched Tropic Thunder for the first time. It was alright, I liked it. It wasn't as good as the hype was before it came out, and it wasn't as bad as I'd heard it was. Jay Baruchel was my favourite in it, but I'm not at all surprised since I've known that he's wicked since he starred in a show called My Home Town in the 90's which was one of my childhood favourites, and later co-starred with Elisha Cuthbert on Popular Mechanics For Kids in the 90's. And then Undeclared which is so good, and so on.

Seriously, you guys need to watch Kiss Kiss Bang Bang. Absolutely unbelievable movie.

But yeah, watched Cube 2: Hypercube last night, and I hated it. I just didn't like it at all, it felt unrealistic and dumb in comparison to the first Cube, which was almost plausible and actually had an engaging plot. Hypercube was just silly most of the time.

And tonight I watched Cube Zero. It was a lot better, but not as good as the original. It has a lot of stuff about what's going on outside of the "Cube" or whatever. Pretty cool.

Most of my high-school friends are girls, so unfortunately when we all decided to go see a movie it was "Bride Wars".

Suffice it to say that I was not there because I expected the movie to be brilliant.

EDIT: On the other hand, it was not a COMPLETE waste of my time, there were a few good gags.

I was trying to decide whether I should post this here or in the TV thread, but whatever.

I found out that the Dead Like Me movie was already broadcast in Canada or something so I figured it might be online somewhere. I was right.

So, basically, just got done watching it.

For a follow-up movie, it didn't really clear up too many loose ends, but then again, Dead Like Me isn't really that type of show.

Henry Ian Cusick didn't get nearly enough screentime, though I can't say he was giving that great of a performance anyway. Still, nice to see him there. A much different role than Desmond.

Anyway, a lot of it's cool because it revolves around a lot of the reaping "rules" being broken.

Daisy's replacement bugs me a lot, since she's basically just playing Daisy without that hint of heart that was always just there under the surface. So, basically, she's just playing an annoying ditz.

And Rube's absence changes the tone of everything, but it almost works. Still, it's so much different without him.

Anyway, it has its moments and I still really enjoyed it. Give it a shot, I know there's a handful of Dead Like Me fans around MMM.

I don't remember which recent DVD purchases (and gifts) I've talked about, so here's everything since mid-November:

Babylon A.D. (Uncut)
Deep Impact
Event Horizon
The Family Stone
A Fistful of Dollars
The Forbidden Kingdom
Hang'em High
In Bruges
The Island
Jackass: Number Two
Kiss Kiss Bang Bang
The Ladies Man
The Manchurian Candidate (2004)
Max Payne (Uncut)
Narc
No Country for Old Men
Resident Evil: Degeneration
RoboCop (Unrated)
Street Kings
Traffic

I watched In Bruges the other week. I really liked it, but the movie felt like a yo-yo. Comedy-drama-comedy-drama-comedy-drama, although I've heard that the director's plays are all like that.

For the record, the new Underworld movie doesn't have Kate Beckinsale in it and it shouldn't because it's a story before she's even a vampire. It has that chick who was the well fit redhead in Da Ali G Movie but she has dark hair in this. Still haven't seen this new Underworld and don't really care to.
