Yeah, I sat through the entire thing when Comedy Central first premiered it - I hadn't planned on it but the TV was on and I can't resist the movie. It was a jarring experience.

Last night I went to see "She's just too good for you". It got my attention. The movie has funny parts but its has a romance blend in it, so for me it was well worth the 10$.

Hilarious defilement of the title aside, is there a plot twist that reveals the only reason she's with Jay Baruchel is because he's well-endowed?

Hot Tub Time Machine was great.

Crispin Glover's character alone is worth the ticket price.

Saw a very realistic movie called Ghost.

And when I mean realistic, I'm serious and sarcastic at the same time.

Sarcastic part: It's an old movie, and some of the stuff that goes on that movie couldn't help but make me laugh.

Realistic part: Patrick Swayze is DEAY-D.

The age of the movie has nothing to do with it, trust me.

Ghost is one of those mostly-terrible movies that I absolutely love for no reason I could tell you (except that one guy on the subway, his performance and lines were the best in the whole film).

It was fun watching Swayze and Moore try to outdo each other's impressions of boards, though.

I think Whoopi Goldberg is amazing in Ghost, and that dude on the train scares the heck out of me...

Ghost makes me cry every time I see it, it's so sad

...a movie being, as you say, "...OLD...", should have no weight on whether or not the movie is good or bad.

All of the movies you liked that came out in the last 5 years will, eventually, be considered "...OLD...", and the movies themselves will not have changed at all.

Unless George Lucas gets his hands on 'em.

Well, "old" branches off into different things. Back to the Future is kinda old and yet it's still incredibly awesome. No, what I'm talking about are scenes in this movie where a cat jumps toward a robber and all of a sudden he has blood on his cheek (you just assume he got scratched). The inability or lack of special effects limit what a movie can do and some (at least in my opinion) bad acting in the movie was just funny.

The scene that comes to mind with that would be when Carl is trying to open his car, and Sam as a ghost is pointlessly swinging at him while in a childish whiny tone saying "You're supposed to be my frieeeend!" It's just stuff like that where I'm PRETTY they're trying to be serious but it just isn't working.

But it definitely doesn't make the movie bad. The story is what matters, and it gets better as it progresses, which is what happens in good movies like that.

Like I said, the leading roles were the worst-acted. Other than that, the acting was decent, and the guy who did the subway ghost (#####, he's been in tons of movies but I can't remember his name to save my life) should have gotten an Oscar. I think Goldberg got a supporting-actress nomination, at least, which was also well-deserved.

Still, there's no real reason for it to be on my top 30 or 40 movies OF ALL TIME, yet there it is somehow. Maybe it's one of those odd pieces that surpasses the sum of its parts.

EDIT: Now I know why, this is clearly the greatest moment in cinematic history:

They're advertising the hell out of the movie Knight and Day...even though it doesn't come out until June.

Seriously, it's like Hollywood was like "Let's make a movie starring the two people that will make Jacob NOT want to see it."

I didn't have to see Clash of the Titans to know it was awful, but suit yourself.

Oh, and I apparently forgot to post this: go see How To Train Your Dragon. It's the first time Dreamworks has ever come close to making a Pixar-quality movie... it's amazing.

I'm seriously asking because I'm mind#####ed right now.

You compared it to Shrek.

Just to clarify, I compared it to Shrek as in this is Dreamworks' first great movie since the original Shrek, and it's lightyears above it in terms of maturity and great storytelling.

Although Shrek was funnier, but that's not what I'm going for here.

Iron Man 2 was so good that I actually can't decide if I like it more than the original - which is the best you could really hope for, since the original is my favorite superhero movie of all time. I was expecting to be disappointed.

Kick-Ass is just a bundle of extreme fun.

I saw Iron Man 2 twice. It was criticized mostly for lack of action, but sheesh, I didn't really mind. There isn't a lot of plot that I would choose to cut out, had I been a writer for this movie.

Plus, I just... really like Iron Man. The movie portrays him well.

If you stayed after the credits, you saw...
Thor's hammer.
My only complaint about IM2 WAS the fact it was rather light on the action.  Even so, it was still a great movie, and more action would have elevated it above the first.  Though as is I'd say they were both about even.  Both excellent movies.

Seeing IM2 tomorrow, but you know I'm excited.

I thought Kick-Ass was only alright, the romance subplot really killed a bunch of it for me.

Posted on: 10 May 2010, 14:20:10

OK so Iron Man 2.

Met my expectations (whereas Kick-Ass did not). I think it's as good as the first Iron Man; Not really better, each have third act problems, but not any worse even if it didn't surprise by how good it was like the first one did.

And I'm a big War Machine fan, so yeah.

This probably doesn't apply to people outside of Canada, I'm not sure if it's been/going to be released outside the country, but I got a pass to see The Trotsky the day before it opened and I thought it was REALLY good.

It stars Jay Baruchel as a 17-year old who claims to be the reincarnation of Soviet revolutionary Leon Trotsky.

I liked it better than Kick-Ass and Iron Man 2.

I don't know if it's everyone's thing but if you get a chance, you know what to do.

I actually liked Shrek Forever After. I'm pretty sure it was much better than Shrek the Third. I say this because I don't even remember Shrek the Third. The laughs were worth the price of admission, I'd think, anyway. If you're a fan of Shrek, were thinking of seeing it but wasn't sure, I'd say go see it. I know Mike will barf at me but I still think it was funny.

Don't watch it in 3D if you have a choice, save yourself some money.

I'll check it out eventually but it's not something I'mma rush toward. The three segments with MacGruber and Charles Barkley from the show are good enough for me, really.

We have MacGruber trucker hats with what I guess are quotes on them to give away at my work.

Michael Cera still might not be the best part for Scott Pilgrim but it looks like he does a good job.

My girlfriend lent me the Scott Pilgrim books so NOW I'm avoiding trailers 'til I've read them.

I still think it's more of a "girl book" but it IS pretty good.
