Ray and I play FFXI. A friend of his roped him in, and I play because it's fun to play with Ray.
Tried it, controls were just abysmal compared to everything else I'd ever played. Couldn't get over it. I do not play free MMORPGs anymore because they're all the same thing, and I refuse to pay for big-name ones because I doubt they'll supply me with the $15 worth of fun I expect from them each month.
I play World of Warcraft like a super uncool pers- I still play WoW, gladly and successfully.
Oh good, someone else does too. Now I don't have to feel like an outcast. Gear check! As for the DCU game and the Star Trek game, both franchises are much too open-ended to be contained by the constraints of an MMO... I figured they had to be disappointments in a can, and I haven't really heard anyone crowing the opposite.
