I'll do it some other time Mike, and I'll make it striped, just for you! :- )

Anyways, heres a couple of DS homebrew themes I mashed together. One with X and one with Zero, the Zero one is old, but the X one was done just now.

The little silhouettes of X and Zero are used as touch screen buttons for navigation, and the screens to the right are for displaying information.

This sketch looks a lot better than what I'm drawing right now, that always happens to me.. So yeah, I'm aiming for a sleeker design to that of the bulky suit. I've gone for a biker helmet look and.. BOOBS.

I've been using a new art style recently, I've been working on it for a while now. It's not going to be some #####ty animu faces and what have you any more! It's still in the working process but I want to develop an art style thats completely custom. Which means I have to take a look at real life structures and #####. It won't take much time, I find this new art style fun to use and learn.

I'll be making something special for MMM. Soon enough. It isn't the group shot for ASR's special surprise either, I haven't even touched that for weeks. ; )

But for now heres some samples, the most perfect head. I might change the eyes. And some sketches of JC, since he has an easy yet fun to work on look. So, take a gander y'all!

Still looks like animu to me, but it does have a certain unique stylistic flare to it.
Best way to come up with your own style is to draw as realistically as possible, and then keep making it simpler until you have something iconic.

Which is probably what you're doing, if I read correctly. Keep it up.

Love it, man. It does still have that anime-flair to it, but it does look more defined. Keep it going, it's great.

And finish that #####ing group shot.

I like JC's face in that a lot. The body isn't necessarily bad but the pose needs some work. I like it a lot though. The Windush face is cool too. Both are still very "animu" or whatever (moreso the Wind face than JC), but it's nice and clean and defined/confident at least. Keep going with it.

I think if you really want to veer away from an anime-style, it's definitely the eyes you need to work on.

I'm not saying that's the right move, but I am sure that they eyes are the only thing that's giving them an anime feel right now.

Nah, maybe the hair is big, but it doesn't look too far off from the way I draw sloppy cartoons and my stuff doesn't even look close to anime style.

It might be the goggles, too, I suppose. But definitely the eyes.

JC with different eyes, I can totally see on something like Johnny Bravo or Dexter's Lab.

YOU GET BACK INTO YOUR CORNER AND WAIT YOUR GODDAMN TURN!

Yeah, thanks guys. I really should work on the eyes, I've tried different styles but I just can't seem to get a simple yet good shape for them. I think in the WIND face it has to do with the size of the eyes as well, but thats also because my characters face is always un proportioned as #####, if you haven't noticed, I have no nose.

I think I'm going to take a bit of ASR's advice and watch some Dex's lab and Johnny Bravo to get some ideas (and because I haven't watched Dex's lab in AGES!)

And so far I've drawn some of JC, a Nova that needs work, and a Mikero who's head is perfect but the body needs work. Since it looks a lot like Nova's body.

): no love for me

Yeah, also taking a look at some Western comics would be a good idea.
See how they turn facial features into icons...

... you might try drawing more detail in the eyes, or at least closing them all around with lines. Western art is more about over-detail rather than suggestive detail.

Wind, I've got some actual good advice aside from watching cartoons.
I started out drawing anime-style-ish. I was young, though, and Pokemon and DBZ were both hip, so it was acceptable.

But still.

I eventually made a conscious effort to switch out of that artistic pit and range myself.

The biggest step for me? Drawing noses.

A lot of my cartoons still don't have noses. In fact, Alan Simple, my own little green spaceman, doesn't have a nose. But other characters in his same little world do, and as cheesy as it sounds, starting to draw the nose is a big mental step in a transition from an anime-style to a more Western-style.

Noses are more than tiny deformed triangle freckles, you know.

And yeah, I'm not saying you don't draw noses, I mean, that JC clearly has one. But you get the picture.

I actually think I've got noses down, they seem to be like anime and western rolled into one with a side of kickass.

But yeah, the western eyes are a great help, like closing them in, I definitely think I can make it work.

It's easier to make that transition than you'd think.

It's kind of weird. I used to love anime/manga style artwork and such, but all of a sudden I grew out of it and I started to really prefer a more Western style of cartooning.

I never really did anything realistic, and more recently I have been dabbling in that category, too. Most recently with those sharpie drawings.

I've realized that it helps with cartooning, too. When you draw very realistically, I mean. Because you realize that after doing that for a while, and then going back to outlandish cartoons, your cartoons look more grounded and realistic without looking any less outlandish.

It helps your talent grow, I suppose. Working backwards, in a way.

It happens a lot when you have caffeine. Regularly it happens when you have too much of it, but if you stay up too it really messes up your system. So I don't eat or anything when I stay up.

Try it tonight! And you'll repaint your toilet bowl!

But thats enough talk about bowel movements, don't you think?
