Don't have a lot of stuff on this computer (I'm at my dad's) so I'll see what I have... AH! I have this, it's a mech I made as a mod for a game called "Cortex Command". It's from MA.K and it's called Kröte, google it if you want to see the original mech.

Hmm, not bad.
Better than I can do.

Alright, so I was in the wrong topic to be discussing this.
Basically I'm looking for helpful opinions and tips on my spriting.
This is my current completed sprite and also possibly my new avatar.

Also, still don't know why, but the thickness of the hair still doesn't show on this website for some reason. I have no idea as how to fix this.

..KAY..

Well, first thing you need to understand is you can't mix the thickness of the pixels, like, look at the ear, the outline of the ear is made with a thick line, and the inside is made with thin lines. Keep it at one size when spriting.

Next is the proper amounts of color in the sprite, take a look at it's hair or its left leg. It also has something to do with thickness of the pixel again. I'm sure if you follow that one rule though, it would a major step up from what you have now. Color seems fine except for the blue jeans, it's lightest color is too vibrant.

Also, we got the WHOLE outline of the body, on the left side of the sprite we have black, and on the right is gray. Work on that too.

You should only edit it in its original size, if you don't it looks funny.

EDIT: Dammit WIND.

Is this any better?
Sorry, I'm still not that great at this. I personally think it looks fine.
(I was too lazy to remove the background this time.)
Also, I can't completely edit the pixels 'cause that would completely destroy the sprite.
That reason is also why I mixed the thickness in the first place.

If you can't be willing to "destroy" the sprite then why bother making it? Or editing it?

I'm kinda' lazy...
I'm also not very artistically talented so usually what looks good to me is utter crap to others.
Edit 1: I dunno'...maybe this just isn't for me.
Sorry to waste everyone's time.

Here, I tried fixing it. Now if you're going to edit it, edit it at this size so the pixels don't get messed up.

Seriously dude, I don't really care any more.
I've given up on that sprite.
If I go to edit it again, chances are I'll start from scratch.
Otherwise, as of currently, I've given up.
Thanks anyways, though.

My thoughts exactly except in Abe's head and mouth so not exactly exactly but you know.

I'm kinda' lazy...

Then don't bother spriting. Not to sound mean, if you're not going to patient and work hard then you're not going to get anywhere. Nothing in life is about talent you're born with, it's about talent to create and master for yourself. To be good at anything you have to earn it. Even prodigies have to work their asses into vapour.

I'm going with Abe on this one Dragster.

Most of what you said I already get. Nothing in life is free, it's all earned. I already know this. It's just when people constantly bash something I worked on and actually tried on it irritates me to the point of quitting. Yes, I'll admit I'm lazy, but when I do something that interests me or I feel is important I pour my entire heart and soul into the project. Despite the appearance of my current avatar and the 16-bit saldite, I actually tried really hard on both of them (I think I clocked around 4 hours for the 16-bit saldite). I want to get into spriting mostly 'cause I figured it'd be good practice for my desired career choice, which would be designing games. Hell, I'm actually working on a game now. I doubt it'll be good, and I already know people will hate it. Even so, I'm making it anyways because I know it'll help me get better. I am incredibly interested in spriting, and the opinions of others aren't going stop me from doing it. When I actually complete something every part of me doubts it and bashes it to bits, but despite my hatred of my own work, I still try.

Anybody up for some 8-bit goodies? I'm making matricians as 8-bit characters, they're not going to be some #####ty edit of MegaMan's sprite like everyone does, but looking like individual characters like the robot masters. Weird poses and all.

Didn't wanna do Mike's scarf, I had animating scarves.

Good stuff.

Grand job. If you do plan to do mike's scarf, I would go with something starchy and pointy. It just feels better for that sprite. Just look at 8-bit Proto.

If you say so...

The beauty of 8-bit is how simple it is. That it gets the idea across fresh, crisp, and clean.

If you wanted to show the wind moving it'd only be one pixel's difference, no?

Not really, if you want to make it really seem like its fluttering in the wind then it could take a whole different shape. And like Mike said, his scarf is bigger so it'd be all over the place.

It'll be hard for him to just make you... 8-bit. There's only so much you can do with 8-bit. He can just make a generic female and that's the closest he'll get to you.

Most of us have unique character designs that are very specific, though oddly I'm not really among them. I mean, my character's design IS specific and unique, but... well, not anything special. Just a short guy in a green zip-up hoodie, but I've drawn it enough in my own distinct style that at least it's enough to go by.

My point is that Wind won't have much to work with in your case.

I could probably pull somethin' off though. I was also thinking of a neat 8-bit preventers game, emphasis on "think" as I have no idea how to do that.

IT WOULD BE PRETTY TIGHT

That would be pretty cool, haha.

You could select your character and such.

And if you select me, you just stand there and don't do anything ever for the entire game. No buttons work. There is only a blinking animation.

No, you could walk, but when you first get to the point where you have to jump, you can't jump high enough. So you're stuck there for the entire game.

preventerNOTHING could always be second player, having to grab power-ups and such for the main guy while the main guy protects him?

Of course making a two-player game for a strictly online community is difficult, at best. The main preventer could be computer controlled or something if you choose ASR, which is also difficult.

I also imagine you could just go all chaos theory on it and have ASR dodge loads of things and as long as he manages to stay alive, things just somehow magically work out.

Also, heres a sample of Lunche to come. He wanted me to make one up real bad, but he was too far in the line to wait. So I made this so he wouldn't kill me.
