LATER DAZE. Posted on: 14 October 2008, 00:02:43
So. Somebody in one of my classes told me about this rapper called Mega Ran, or Random, really. Apparently he made a whole rap album based on MegaMan tracks. I just downloaded it and am listening to it. It's actually... ...pretty good. I mean, I enjoy it. I was sort of expecting some #####ty remixes and low quality tracks. Reccomended to you guys to at least give it a listen.

J-Live is pretty rad. This song is a favorite. Not so much the beats, but the lyrics are what gets me. Couldn't upload the actual mp3, so that's as close as I can get. Yes, it's from T.H.U.G.

Is Death Cab really considered Indie anymore?
I hate the idea that not being on a major label or whatever gets you classified in a whole other genre, as if that makes any sense. And it makes the scope of what can be considered "Indie" too big to make any claim on whether you like it or not. Even if you're talking about something more specific like "Indie rock" or "Indie pop".
I don't know if Death Cab is technically independent, but I classify "indie" based on sound type and origins, rather than record labels. Much of the indie pop and indie rock scenes, at least the ones that I've heard that actually classified themselves as "Indie," do tend to share a sound in common, even with each other.
"Hipster" might be a better terminology for the specifics of what I've been listening to, I guess. Kind of.
Hm. Coffeehouse music?
Yeah I figured you meant the sound, which-like anything- I have a hard time classifying as "Indie". My response on that part was more towards the combination of your and TLO's posts. -- Anyhoo, anyone would be smart to listen to the Boys Noize mix of "My Moon My Man" by Feist, which is the last track on Boys Noize's album OiOiOi. That is, if you like Feist in the first place. Which I do and can't imagine why anyone wouldn't. Anyway the Boys Noize mix is ridiculously good. Which makes sense since he's awesome and she's awesome and it's great. Oh also, Feist is a hilarious and quirky person live, and I loved that. ... Feist - "My Moon My Man (Boys Noize mix)"
