"Mad World" - Shannon Butcher

She does like happy upbeat jazz versions of modern songs and they're awesome.

I haven't heard the song but the description of her sounds pretty gimmicky.

I kind of like gimmicky, sometimes. It's fun to listen to a song re-done in a different way.

(I know that's not what gimmicky means)

I like that, that's fine. Gimmicky refers more to ONLY doing that because it gets you attention/fans/cash and not actually doing, um, art.

Like 90% of anime people on DeviantART. And 70% of DeviantART.

I mean, I don't praise the reason(s) behind its creation, but at some times, I praise the song itself or at least enjoy listening to it. I try it on. Sometimes money can be a good source of motivation and creativity-by-proxy? I guess.

Don't know if I mentioned it but a while back I bought the latest albums from Kardinal Offishall ("Not 4 Sale") and Grand:PM ("Party In Your Basement"). They are both very good, but I'm mostly listening to Kardi and only a bit off Grand:PM, because it's the first one I popped it and it's a wiccckkkked album. But few of you have probably ever heard of Kardinal Offishall.

I like select songs of his. Normally it's his popular stuff that I hear all the time until I grow accustomed to it.

I like select songs of his, but the popularity usually doesn't help is detract. For instance, I like "Stronger" loads (mostly 'cause I love Daft Punk) and that's real popular, but I also like "Two Words" which few know (but could be 'cause I like Mos Def... hmm). I also really dislike "Love Lockdown" which people seem to have a bonk on for.

Hm. I think "Heartless" might be the first Kanye West Martin Louis The King Jr. song I like that's JUST him and no one else. I've been too up and down on "Jesus Walks" to decide.

For better or worse, this music has been stuck in my head for quite a while ever since I watched this video.

I know some of you might actually enjoy this, and I know some may shun it, but I can't stop watching it. >.>;

Speaking of things you can't stop listening to...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FOhcUT0Ir_o&feature=related&fmt=18

And then better Touhou junk than UN Owen:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LVj9rS3MBjo&feature=related
This and a few others (Nuclear Fusion and Hartmann's Youkai Girl) from that album remind me of MMX music circa X5-X6.

Which is my favorite X music in terms of synth.

As far as real music goes, I've been listening to this song way too much:

Pendulum - Propane Nightmares

The spaghetti Western bit at the beginning makes me want more, but the rest of the song doesn't disappoint, despite the contrast.

I'm a sucker for Morricone-esque junk (which this is not, but eh).

I've been listening to a lot of Meat Loaf, Bat out of Hell II.

Mentioning it before made me think enough about it to get me to pay for the album. Even though I came across a few songs on youtube a while back and have been listening to them from time to time since then.

Jim Steinman. I like his style, though I suppose it can be overly dramatic. I just like that I guess.

Well, #####, look at that. It only took me A FEW MONTHS but I'm at 1000 posts now.

It's a pretty good album. In terms of overall quality, not quite as good as the first, but very solid anyway with an opening song that is really an album unto itself.
