I just got the Lion King soundtrack from GoodWill for 2 bucks.
Also some new sunglasses, a new shirt (dark green), and a monty python tape for my dad.

I have the soundtrack from the Broadway show from way back when I saw it.

I like it.

I've been in a mood for bagpipes and Loreena McKennitt lately.

I don't understand why people don't like bagpipes.

There's a bunch of dudes with bagpipes who march in the 4th of July parade every year up in Northern Michigan, but I won't get to see 'em this year since I'm not going up North for 4th of July weekend.

A guy I talk to introduced me to Aphex Twin and I wish I heard his stuff earlier. I'm on an electro rampage now.

Reminds me when I was hooked on metal during middle school; I still listen to different stuff, though lately I always make time to listen to some electronic music. I think this phase will be lasting for awhile

MOX do you like/know MSTRKRFT, Boys Noize, or Justice?

If so let's talk electro! If not check them out!
I like other acts too, obviously. That's just my favourite electro for right now (and obviously mainstays The Prodigy and Daft Punk).

OH and this track is soooooooo sick; The Bloody Beetroots feat. Steve Aoki - "WARP"

Sometimes I'll be out with my DJ friends, who to go one clubslashbar enough that they're friends with the DJs there, so we pretty much get the tracks we want. When "WARP" (alternatively; "WxAxRxP") came on one time in the middle of the week, we went #####ing insane and then they needed smokes after so we took it to the patio for a break. It's that live.

I definately heard that track but could'nt remember where.

I really like Justice and hope they release some new songs soon.
I've only heard The Looks from MSTRKRFT but I really like their creativity and certain aesthetic in their songs.
Have not heard of Boys Noise, will check them out.

Before I thought techno was okay but I thought it sounded kinda cheesy to me which kinda made me disregard electronic music years ago. Recently though after hearing some dirty edgey electro music I was hooked.

I dont keep up with all the sub genres but I do like a lot of the general electronic and house stuff thats out there. General electronic artists that I currently listen to are Justice, MSTRKRFT, SebastiAn, Cut Copy, Klaxons, Deadmau5. Hope to expand more soon.

I actually started listening to The Prodigy from this topic just recently (really glad I did) and so far I'm enjoying all of Invaders Must Die, though I kinda wish I listened to their older stuff first.

Yeah The Prodigy are incredible. The album before Invaders Must Die, Always Outnumbered, Never Outgunned, is also really wicked. Totally different style in that.

I'm still reeling from seeing them live in March.

I've been encountering a lot of Modest Mouse lately. The lazy summer feel suits their music perfectly, especially songs like Float On.

I thing I've got an ingrained  association with music and summer. Free concert season and whatnot.

So I just downloaded some of The Prodigy because what the hell, and I love it. I was like, "Oh, okay, yeah, Smack My Bitch Up, yeah, I know that one."

I'll go for Aphex Twin and Boys Noize later, and anything else you mofo's wanna reccommend because I like pretty much everything.

Well download some of The Prodigy that isn't played a bajillion million fake number trillion times an hour!

Modest Mouse is OK, I don't know much of them.

Boys Noize, he's a lot... grittier. Or... I don't know. You'll see what I mean. It's just of harder and more abrupt and stuff, and that's what I love about it. I think "& Down", "Lava Lava", and "Don't Believe The Hype" are my current favourites of his.

I can't get into it and I have no idea why you're talking about it in the Music thread but OK. I think it's just another bleh sitcom on in a time (these days) where there's very few actually good sitcoms. The only one I can think of right now that is REALLY good is How I Met Your Mother.

Exactly. I'd seen Big Bang Theory and Two And A Half Men and they're both AWFUL, so I'd just assumed that How I Met Your Mother was on the same level of crap. I knew NPH was in it so I was always a little interested, but I didn't know Jason Segel and Allyson Hannigan were in it. I finally saw it and realized it was a piece of gold on the hill of poop that is CBS's comedy lineup.

But what does this have to do with MUSIC?

Well download some of The Prodigy that isn't played a bajillion million fake number trillion times an hour!

I should have said "all of The Prodigy" instead of "some of The Prodigy" since I just downloaded the discography! But yeah, I was listening to it in my car earlier so I wasn't paying attention to the song titles but I was really enjoying every track that popped on.

So I downloaded the Aphex Twin discography.

Over 55 albums.

Under a bunch of different pseudonyms.

What have I gotten myself into.

Mike, where should I start?

EDIT: There's actually a lot less here than I first thought there was. Still a bit overwhelming, though.

I approve. They're more or less the only band I have a high enough opinion of to physically collect (various "resources" of a computing science major being what they are), although I almost went and made my way through the Eagles' discography once.

Daft Punk - "Teachers (Laidback Luke Edit)"

I can't stop rocking to this track.
Saturday night, after breaking away from a birthday party at a bar, some of us went to the club I've mentioned where we know the DJ. The guy played "Phantom Pt. II", "Warp", and this for us.

We had an absolutely ballistic hype night.

Hoooooo boy I just finished making a GREAT playlist of remixes and stuff, but getting it as small as I could it's still like 92 minutes long. I want(ed) to burn it on CD for work, so I have to find those seemingly uncommon CD-Rs that have like 99 minutes of space. If they even still make those... Do they?

Eyedea & Abilities need to hurry the ##### up and come out with their next album.

I really hope this one is a return to form. As much as I enjoyed E&A, I really miss their philosophically saturated earlier work. I already know that Eyedea kills at every free-style contest he enters, so I REALLY don't need another album where that's almost all he talks about.
