I'm not convinced a larger, 32 bit Chill Penguin would be inherently better on account of how it will redesign the boss.
So interestingly, while I was looking for Chill Penguin-X's size relationship in X1 for my last post, I saw this image where someone made their own updated version of Chill Penguin based on his more modern MHX art direction. Now, I'm not sure but I don't think this is exactly 32-bit but regardless I actually think that looks pretty damn good as an "upgrade" without changing the character's overall tone. Having said that I absolutely would have the same worries as you as far as the gameplay is concerned. And I could go either way on which version of X they should pick, but to me it would have to be one size. Seems like an inherent problem with allowing them to mix, but it's a problem I'd rather just accept than not be able to mix bosses from different games which seems like the whole point of this.
I don't know. Maybe I'm wrong, but I feel like it's arbitrary and I could make an argument for either, and I'd rather take the side where I have one less thing to complain about. My first priority is that it's fun to play. You are not wrong. I really wish MM's size was standardized better, and specifically I think he shouldn't be so much bigger than the early bosses (X1-3). It makes them so much less threatening for one, but more importantly it ruins their design. And I do think it's do-able... We sort of have to do this thing in animation, with character lineups. To an extent, I did this constantly when making my own sprite art in the way back. I could make a quick image on how to do it, but basically you just have to take X from each game and get them to be the same height (or very close). After that all you need to do is keep the bosses (and other characters) relative to their respective game's X, and that should synchronize just fine. It's something that takes long but isn't at all difficult, so if I'm being completely honest that kind of lazy over sight is red flag for me.

More new boss mashups discovered 4-3: Storm Eagle & Toxic Seahorse 2-3: Volt Kraken and Shielded Sheldon (Why the ##### isn't Launch Octopus his partner!?) 4-3 (vol2): Armored Armadillo & Shining Firefly (Wait...why are they reusing Armadillo again? Isn't he partnered with Rainy Turtloid) Posted on: 20 July 2018, 00:03:22
On another note, the OST for X Legacy Collection is out! The music sounds...trippy and relaxing as for original tracks go. I like it. The remixes are ok. But I really dig the remix for the TOTAL RESULTS track. Edit: Holy #####. RE:Future is #####ing awesome. There is even a Japanese and ENGLISH vocal version of the track. Other notes I've discovered: You can change the music in the X challenge to either the original version or the remix version. This includes sound effects. So if the remix version isn't your fancy, you can at least switch to the original.
