This show is wonderful. I can't believe I'd never watched it before. I only have Season 1 but grad-money is flying towards me like rainfall so that's one thing to blow it on.

It's worth it. It only gets better later in the series and the more often you watch it (like Peep Shooooooooowwwww!!)

The thing that makes it better is that I totally bought it on a whim because it was on sale for $10 with a purchase of $50 or more and I'd heard great things about it.

The $50 went towards a bigger DVD carrying case so I can actually fit ALL my DVD's in one spot.

Hm. I love how The Final Countdown always plays as if it's Gob's theme.

I'm currently watching a very complicated drama/harem anime on YouTube, called School Days. It's about one guy, named Makoto Ito, and about seven girls. He has serious feelings for only two, but occasionally sleeps with the other five, and all the girls get pissed at each other, and one girl, Sekai, the girl who was Makoto's close friend, kills him after finding out he slept with someone else. It's all very complicated, and I'm not sure it's that good of an anime, but I have nothing else to watch, so I'll just watch this.

Heard of it, saw some clips. Way too stupid, you cheat on someone over here you could get sacked, over there apparently, they kill you. And in high school no less. It gets my immediate disrespect.

The best joke in whole finale is just a single word yelled in Mark's inner monologue. But is hilarious.

Gotta leave you all a present before I leave. I've been watching this a lot lately because it's just so funny- and if you don't think it's at least a little bit amusing- you're a douche.

Not Lupin the 3rd. Some other... gay anime. Literally.

It's Yaranaika or something like that.
I've been watching House lately. Love that show.

In addition to that, some crap animu called "Shijou Saikyou no Deshi Kenichi".
I have no idea why I'm watching it, just like I have no idea why I watched all of Zero no Tsukaima (although I hazard a guess it was the queen for that).
It's a fightan show, though. For the most part.

I finished Arrested Development today.

Beautiful.

I love how you can tell that the writers were making it up as they went and the fact that they embraced that and made it flow so perfectly is what made it all so amazing.
That, and how they started to really make fun of themselves and break the 4th wall when they knew that cancellation was imminent.

They better make a movie.

The whole "TV shows into movies" thing is overrated, I think.

I totally agree but it still feels like a fun idea.

I think they ended it perfectly anyway, and the movie is unnecessary, but I wouldn't mind because if anyone can pull it off, it's the team that made Arrested Development.
I still can't get over how much they made fun of themselves after they knew they were cancelled.
Even in the second season, I caught the subtle line "You want us to drop down from 22 houses to 18?" Unless I'm wrong, it's referencing why Season 2 has less episodes than Season 1.

Oh, and it's fun to pause the DVD whenever they show a yearbook entry and read the other entries. Steve Holt's mom was named Eve Holt, haha.

Posted on: 16 June 2008, 01:24:22

Oh, and on the subject of TV-shows-made-movies: before they settled on an 8th season of Scrubs, they were going to make a straight-to-DVD movie to cap off the series because of the abrupt Writer's Strike. However, they moved to ABC instead (ABC's resources funded and created the show in the first place, but NBC aired it) and were given at least one more season with the possiblity of more.

My point is that I think straight-to-DVD movies for abruptly cancelled TV-shows is a much better idea than trying to go Hollywood on it, assuming you get unlimited freedom with a straight-to-DVD release.

Which I totally understand, I didn't mean that literally.

I meant, in comparison to making it an in-theaters film.

I think the only real difference would be how many movies you get to make. Story shouldn't end up TOTALLY different otherwise it wouldn't be connected to it's show correctly and it wouldn't even be worth making.

The AD team just seems like they were perfect on their own, and undoubtedly if they make a motion picture out of it, there's going to be some meddling.

Yeah, and the show is definitely the type that can stand up to multiple viewings so more isn't really necessary.

Posted on: 16 June 2008, 02:16:20

I loved this bit:

Michael: Hey, so what's going on with the fund raiser?
George Sr.: Well, I don't think the Home Builders Organization is going to be supporting us.
Michael: Yeah, the HBO's not gonna want us. What do we do now?
George Sr.: Well, I think it's Showtime. I think we have to put on a show during dinner.

And "Please, tell your friends about this show" before the commercial break.

Yeah I loved that stuff. Shows that do such things are great. ReBoot did that when ABC canned them early on and they switched networks.

It was after they closed the portal to the web after sending Bob into it and Megabyte ordered his ships to attack the CPUs. One CPU pilot said; "Sir, the ABC's... They've turned on us!" or something to that effect. Megabyte's ships were never named before ABC passed on the show.

Hehe, I should look into ReBoot. I remember watching it once or twice long long ago, and liking it, but I never got into it.

Oh, and for the record, I personally took note of the part where I laughed the hardest during Arrested Development.
It was when Rita walks on the water, and Michael asked Gob if that was his wedding trick, and they just sort of stare at each other uneasily. "No, Michael, that wasn't my wedding trick."
And the episode sort of ends, and I was just like "what?"
And then it pops right back in and Gob shouts "It was my wedding ILLUSION!"

Gob is the best but I love Michael's dry humour. Like right after Gob talks about how he was talking to the board or whatever of Bluth and he changed 100 dollars into 100 pennies.

It's a rock, though. Should beat everything. Not a lot of logic to it. Kind of like on a boat, with "women and children first." Why should they get special treatment?
