Lunar eclipses are capable of lasting as long as the one on Heroes.
In theory, solar eclipses cap out at seven minutes and thirty one seconds.
I'm also curious where Nathan and Peter where supposed to be, since the eclipse was visible from there as well. I assume Haiti, given they were after the brother of "The Haitian". Does that mean we are to understand that a full solar eclipse had a visible range that spanned the continental United States and Haiti?
Heroes = Astronomical fail.
I'd also like to point out that Nathan flew way before the eclipse in season one.
Also,
why did Noah wait for Sylar and What's-her-name to finish having sex before he took the shot?... actually... nevermind. I don't want to know the answer to that.
Annular is a completely normal word, and it's used in the term "total annular eclipse" all the time when referring to solar eclipses. Annular means it has the form of a ring.
This is where I could be a big dick and say I learned that in the first grade, but I have a feeling I the ONLY reason that is, is because there's a similar word (I can't place it though) in french and I was an immersion kid.
Anyway yes they were in Haiti, and it really bothered me too but I shrugged it off because I don't rightly know how much the distance between Haiti and New York is and/or how it would effect it. I know Haiti is in the Caribbean (duh), but I haven't been there since I was turning five (left on my birthday), and that was to Barbados, so I was too young to know any of that.
Like, how far does it appear as a total annular eclipse before it appears as a partial eclipse, and then how far from that area before it doesn't appear as an eclipse at all, or it's not visible at all?

Finally! New season of Flight of the Conchords in January! Definitely among the genuinely funniest shows ever made. So I've been rewatching the first season to prepare. And I suddenly remembered where I'd seen Jemaine from BEFORE I got into Flight of the Conchords. Those old Outback commercials. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7nEp_Y7W4IQ&feature=relatedYoutube verified this for me. It's funnier because so much of Flight of the Conchords is spent talking about how much Kiwis hate Aussies. But yeah, those commercials were hilarious. Oh, and if you've never seen the show, this short promo for the first season is still hilarious: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d6gcbiam9Kg

I wish they'd release their HBO One Night Stand, which was before the show was made, on DVD. Because I have it downloaded but it's really the sort of thing I'd rather have on DVD. Posted on: 10 December 2008, 23:23:23
So I had some interesting fun for the last few days in terms of watching The Office in my free time. I watched the first season of the US Office, and then decided I wanted to watch the first series of the UK Office. From there I switched back to Season 2 of the US Office, and then switched back to Series 2 of the UK Office. Then went to Season 3 of the US Office and ended on the UK Office Christmas Special. Yeah. So. Even though I'm biased and will always like the UK original better, I decided that the US version is actually a lot funnier. This was my 3rd time through the UK series and my second time through the US series, though I still haven't seen the 4th season and what's been aired of the 5th season. Basically, I just find myself genuinely laughing a lot more during the American version. The characters Toby and Ryan and definitely underrated gems and are perfect characters for the US version. Dwight will always be inferior to Gareth, so I hate how everyone says Dwight is their favorite character. Ugh. But yeah. Basically, this is just me coming to terms with my feelings for The Office on both versions. And just me babbling. Ignore.

HEY JC I ACTUALLY MILDLY ENJOYED WHAT BITS I WAS WATCHING SURPRISINGLY Posted on: 16 December 2008, 05:16:20
Good news for Flight of the Conchords fans, all me of them. http://www.funnyordie.com/videos/c48f423bdf/season-2-online-premiere-flight-of-the-conchords-from-flight-of-the-conchordsThe first episode of season 2 is available online for a week. I just watched it. It was a bit different but overall still great. The songs were rather disappointing but I forgive them because the Angels Doin' It song at the end was so awesome. So awesome.

Turns out that Summer Heights High is actually Australian. Huh.
And yeah, Abe, show us.
Oh, and Mike: I'm assuming you have the American Region 1 DVDs of Spaced. If you do, then trust me that all the commentaries are great. So many great people getting together to talk about the show, like Quentin Tarantino, Kevin Smith, Patton Oswalt, Matt Stone, etc. There's two sets of commentaries, too: the original set from when it was first released on DVD in Region 2, and the new set for when it was released here in Region 1 with all the celebrities. Both are good.
I got triple the viewing time from the DVD set by watching every episode three times right off the bat, it was great. Not to mention that I never mind watching any of the episodes again.
