I heard the season premiere of House is REALLY good and completely un-House-like. Which means I may tune in, even though I haven't watched in a really long time and really only know that he's in an asylum now.

I just finished season 5 recently SO CAN'T WAIT.

I might watch the season 5 finale just to see what's going on. House is probably the only show with any sort of continuity where I don't mind skipping large chunks of it.

For me, it's been at it's best since the season where he had everyone competing for a spot on his new team. I can watch reruns of the original team but the plots are more formulaic and I care more about the characters now than the characters then.

I watched the first half of that season, and for whatever reason missed a few episodes and then never bothered to catch up. That's the closest I've come to watching regularly. I did like that stuff better than the scattered episodes I'd seen before.

Basically stuff with whateverthataccentissupposedt obe Chase, brown haired Cameron, and Foreman as the main team is a lot more boring than later, when they're still on the show but get a lot more interesting and a lot less screentime.

CURB WAS GREAT. Seriously, what a triumphant return! No Seinfeld at all save for a very casual mention.

House premiere was just a normal "House is out of the hospital but learning" episode except longer, pretty much. But it was good. And it got awesome later with rapping.

Although that was the most vanilla asylum I've ever seen.

Heroes was similar to all it's other premieres. Time travel and trying at new starts that aren't going to work out so well.

It was fine. Not epic or anything, but it was good enough. I keep watching because I still do like it, it just can get on my nerves. You know, like a girl you're in like with or the show Lost or both or both of them together at the same time.

But now I want to make a show called "Henroes" about a bunch of chicken strangers who get superpowers. Get it? 'Cause every character on Heroes is a cock!

Finally got around to watching that Doctor Who special from earlier in the spring. I remember it aired right around my birthday and I was excited to see it, but totally forgot about it and have put it off since.

It was GREAT. I forgot how much I loved this show. Christina is a great companion for the Doctor, and I really hope she's going to be back. I think she's my favorite of all the girls he's teamed up with.

I'm really looking forward to the show "Trauma", which will be debuting next Monday (9/28) on NBC. It looks to be in the same vein as Third Watch, so I'm interested.

It's not just you. Though the show is much better than the books. I liked the first book, but the second and third were pretty lame, though I liked the villain in the second. The third was... it was actually retarded. I can't understand why the author brought a supernatural element into the series.

So, the show has the books beat, and I think the direction they're going is that Dexter is finding out that he actually IS more human than he thinks he is... which I can go with if they do it right.

The detached nature of the books is part of why I enjoy them. It reminds me of Bret Easton Ellis.

As far as who handles the franchise better, I really think they should work as a team. The first season was astonishing, and was largely an improvement upon the source material, particularly in the realms of timing and closure. I liked the story of the second book more than that of the second season, but longed for the polish that the television series could have brought to it. So on and so forth. Long story short, I feel as though the series is at its strongest when the teams collaborate.

I guess I didn't have so much of a problem with the supernatural element of the third book because the first two went to such lengths to anthropomorphize his 'Dark Passenger'. To me it simply felt as though the same tone that had been nuanced earlier in the series was just being more directly addressed.

The accidental proposal was an infinitely better set up, by the way.

I agree that they should have borrowed more from the second book for the second season, but pick and choose like they did for the first.

And yes, the accidental proposal was great because that's much more Dexter.

It's just... come on... that third book? The entire last segment? It was ridiculous, I'm sorry.

There are certain directions that the books have gone which I think would be very interesting in the series, like the stuff with Cody and Astor, but for the most part I'm glad they went a different way.

I only read the first Dexter book and as much as I liked it, I thought the first season was a lot better than the book.

I might get the other books, because it's more Dexter material to worship, but so far I prefer the show (even though its based on the books...).

Dexter is one of those rare occasions where the show really outshines the books in most aspects, and the creative liberties they took were all for the better. There were some interesting plot points they DIDN'T take from the books, but everything they CHANGED was for the better.

Hey, speaking of shows based on books:

FlashForward was super-rad, and it's definitely going to be a huge hit.

I never saw it, but that trailer months back made me want to give it a shot.

The pilot's airing again tomorrow at 8, so you don't have an excuse unless you have an excuse.

It's almost completely different than the book, but it makes total sense since it's the same PREMISE, just told the from a different perspective and with a couple major changes thrown in, like:
- the only character that shares a name in the book and show is completely different
- footage like security cameras during the FlashForward are white noise in the book, but recorded fine with no problems in the show
- something spoilerish that I can't say that's related to the bullet above this one and is revealed at the very end

Also, some of the characters have the same problems that different ones in the book did, like the guy who didn't have a vision and thus knows he will be dead in six months.

Oh, and in the book, it wasn't six months, it was 21 years or whatever.

ABC, yeah. They're building it up to be the replacement for Lost once that's done.

Well, I hate the business of creative works in general.

I hate that they're a business. It's like mixing two polar opposites.

Like, there's an episode of 30 Rock where Seinfeld comes on, and he's pissed because NBC is doing this thing called SeinfeldVision where they're using clips from Seinfeld to digitally insert him into every show on the network. There's clips of him spliced into stuff like Law & Order, Heroes, and Deal or No Deal. And it's really funny. But then you realize they could actually do that ##### if they wanted to and were convinced it would actually make them money.

I'm aiming for a career in television but I'm dreading the day I get there.

I think my girlfriend is the only person I know who likes that show and she made me watch a bit (I was very against this) but it actually wasn't bad. Hearing about this episode I know I have to watch this now.

I haven't been able to see the new Curb yet.
I've been rewatching My Name Is Earl while I work, and I'm happy about that. Probably gonna show my girlfriend Peep Show tonight. I haven't watched it in a minute!

I would kill for them to release the rest of the series on Region 1 DVD.

30 Rock is consistently decent, sometimes great. I don't think it deserves all the praise it gets, but I definitely enjoy it.

Yeah I have to bring my laptop to her place to watch it 'cause these DVDs are Region 2. Series 1 through 3.

I have Series 1 on Region 1. I've been contemplating just buying the Region 2 DVD's for the rest of the show, and for Green Wing, along with obviously a region-free player.

We only watched series 1 and we were doing a sort of swap thing where each show each other this brit show we like. She showed me first couple episodes of The Inbetweeners which I really liked.

I watched the first episode of Flash Forward and saw nothing of worth in it.

Another show with no character, and everyone puts a big serious face on all the way through.

Also in the bin are Heroes, and Dollhouse.

Smallville premiere was good.

Fringe is probably the best thing on right now.

Be honest, do you actually still like Smallville or do you just keep watching just because? 'Cause with everyone I've talked to, including myself, it's the latter and we can't figure out why we keep watching.

But I'm actually behind on it and "need" to catch up.

Haven't watched Fringe yet but I can guarantee it's far from the "best thing on." Planning on watching it, though.

Heroes is absolutely awful. Dollhouse is fun because it's Whedon and I enjoy that stuff, but the premiere was awful after how great the last season ended.

Never seen Smallville, don't ever plan on it.

I will watch all of FlashForward this season based purely on the premise.
