I have always thought that members with 500, or even 1,000 posts should be able to create their own custom avatar (approved by you, of course) for Mchat. It wouldn't be the "50 post rush" kind of thing, because at 500 or 1000 posts it's hard to spam.

There should be strict rules, such as pixel size and things like that so that all of the avatars are consistent.

Yeah, custom avatars FTW. Also, it's probably just me but I was hoping for a slight color change. When I saw the new "MMM is down" page, I thought it was going to be black and white because of the new logo. Is the color scheme going to change? That'd be purty neat in my book.

I don't know. Post limit to do X always irks me. At higher numbers it encourages more spam, not less. There should be a better way of handling custom avatars, if they happen.

Can't think of one for the life of me, though.

There's also the "quality control, dammit" part in me that doesn't want to see stupid edits clogging up the chat. Oh, user-created content, you bane and boon.

Not bad but it also means locking every back down to premade small avatars, which I would not mind.

Still. Seems like a lot of work and extra rules to enforce and approvals just so MadReploidDude can have a pink zero helmet with a broadsword and trapeze pants or something, that he'll parade in MChat for maybe two days before he gets bored. Which seems pretty likely to me.

If custom avatars happen, I think it would really only work on a case-by-case basis, and no fuss about post count.

Deleting all mention or reference to Star Force, MMZ, ZX and X5 and up would also be a good direction to go.

Aye. You make a good point, and I totally agree. I just suggested post count because I didn't know what else to base it on.

The only problem that this raises- remember back in the day when everyone would ask to be a mod? I think it will be very similar. EVERYONE will be begging to get custom avatars and complaining when they don't. Unless there was some "don't ask, just be offered" rule, I think it would get out of hand.
