It`s a disgusting convoluted term, if you ask me.

First Nations would make sense if they said "First Nations of the Americas", which probably isn't right either since the Southern American cultures were around long before, so jam in a North and it's alright.

But really.
Algonquian. At the very least that's where the word originates.

First Nations is what's official in Canada, I think. But it's also acceptable to say Native here, so I'm cool with that. Also, I think it's "Algonquin" here, and not "Algonquian". Could be a regional thing.
