First of all, I'd like to give credit to Someguy for finding this information and sending it to me in a PM.

http://rockmansynergy.com/commons/index.php?blog=2&p=475&more=1&c=1&tb=1&pb=1#more475

These are rumors, as Someguy says, but if true this is the good news:

  • "Capcom is planning an “EPIC” reinvention of the Rockman in the form of a “cinematic style” videogame that would “reboot” the franchise, disregarding everything from the past. The Game is set to release on next-gen consoles. SG did remark that she hasn't heard any news concerning this rumor in quite a while (months), so she personally doesn't believe it to be true."
  • Capcom has a series of 20th Anniversary related announcements to be made throughout the new year (2008) regarding new games and other misc. items of interest.
  • Some announcements are "big surprises"
  • Capcom is apparently going to continue to remake some of the “older” Rockman games. No specifics. (Could this mean more Powered Up and Maverick Hunter?)

  • The long delayed “MegaMan Zero Official Complete Works” will finally release in mid February.
  • The upcoming “Rockman and X Complete Works” artbook/sourcebook will reveal the “truth” behind the events that took place between the Original and X series.

(Hopefully, it will put an end to the Zero cataclysm theory once and for all)

  • Capcom of America is planning a commemorative 20th Anniversary soundtrack to be released in the spring.
  • Capcom is currently searching for a producer and director for an unannounced game.
  • The Wii Rockman title will revive a "retired" series that was not concluded. Which series though, is unknown, but it has to be either Original, X or DASH. (PLEASE BE DASH! PLEASE BE DASH!)

    The Bad News:

  • Rockman will not be in Super Smash Bros. Brawl.
  • Capcom is currently discussing the future of the ZX Series. (i.e, if ZX3 will see the light of day) It's fate will be revealed to the fan base directly. No news is good news.
  • Ryuusei no Rockman 3 has entered production. (No surprise there) First bits of news will appear in late May or early June. (WHAT THE #####!?)

That's it. The bolded statements are my comments on the subject.

Ha ha, I can't believe it, I doubt that MMSF3 in production is a rumor, after all this is Capcom. I'm curious about that "Epic" reinvention thing mentioned, sounds interesting, same with the Rockman and Rockman X source book. I hope all the good news is true, as I'd like to see all of that happen, I have a little hope though...

A new game that would reboot the franchise eh? Kinda sounds apocalyptic to me.

A new game that would reboot the franchise eh?

We need a game like that, the whole Megaman story line is messed up, if this game could fix that then that would be great, as long as they don't change it so that Megaman was the true carrier of the Sigma/Maverick virus the whole time or something like that

I'm dissappointed with the Brawl bit, but it figures. I'm going to buy SF2 since it'll have Wi-Fi, but I personally doubt I'll buy the third one. Here's my largest beef though, if anything.

The sales for MMPU and MHX sucked. What does Capcom do? Stop production.

The sales for Star Force 1 sucked. What does Capcom do? CONTINUE PRODUCTION. LAWL, GOOD CALL CAPCOM.

If that's not enough to peeve me off, they've already set their minds on not just making SF2, but SF3 AS WELL!? Someone PLEASE tell me what's sensible about this!

We haven't even gotten SF2 in North America yet either, then again wasn't RNR2 announced like 2 weeks after we got MMSF? Damn Capcom moves fast with the crappy series. Oh and CV I recommend you don't get SF2 once it's released, got the Japanese copy, it gets pretty boring, fast, I stopped after the tutorial(which is finally skip able)

I'll think about it, but I just want to battle online. That's all that interests me to the series as of now. Everything else is pretty #####ty.

Well I can't remember much about the online play but I remember there were rules you had to follow, such as locked folders (meaning you and your opponent are gunna have the same #####ty folder), and some other stuff I can't remember, but I can't remember much about it since the game sucks.

Something like that, I'm trying to find where I read that from, but I can't see it anywhere. There's also this thing called sky stadium where you go to challenge all them other people online and stuff, then that's when all the rules are set and stuff

All bad news if you ask me.

Reboot?  That's what MHX was.  And it butchered MMX.  Why would I think another reboot wouldn't reek as much?

Revealing what happened between Classic and X?  Gonna suck.  Hard.  VERY hard.  Know how bad the MMZ Complete Works book "filled in" between MMX and MMZ?  Or the "facts" about the X series it "clarified"?   OH BOY CAN'T WAIT FOR THIS.  And with above said "reboot" woudn't it be completely irrelivant?

More remakes?  MMPU would be FUN, but let's be honest.  MMPU played very loose compared to the original games.  Just look at how utterly AWFUL the "classic" MM1 mode for MMPU was.  MHX?  No thanks.  X5-X8 ##### on the X series enough.  Why would I want to trade everything that made X1-X4 pure win to update the graphics and get crappy remixes?

Real or not, I see nothing good in any of it.  Mega Man is dead.  I am very sad.  I take that back, no ZX3 is good news.  Let's pray it comes to pass.  Or not pass as it would be.

I don't think that's what Capcom means when they used the term "reboot." I think they're going to reboot MegaMan by giving him a new series that has nothing to do with any other MegaMan game ever made, not reboot by remaking older games and changing the story lines completely.

Man, I do hope they revive Legends. With the powerful engine of today's games, and with the right development team(gulp), it could totally make up for all those Legends-less years.
Just don't make it exclusive for the Wii.

I hope they don't go down the same path Metroid did. That's my biggest fear about a Megaman on the Wii.

Same difference.  Looking at WHAT changes were made to MHX is a good barameter to the direction they'd take.  And I took it to mean a reboot of MEGAMAN, not a new unrelated series.

And lets face it, the fact Inti Creates #####ed Mega Man up so bad that it NEEDS a reboot is just sad.

Tragically, I own that game for both the Speccy and the C64.

It's AWFUL.

And just to prove how much better things were back in the day, the "199 Range" was just that:  A label of games that were £1.99 new.

Up until "big box" games like Rainbow Islands and Ghostbusters II came out, the most you'd ever pay for a Speccy game was £3.99...

Big box set you back £9.99...

Awesome.

Google my friend. Google.

Years ago, it just came up when I searched for information on the Blue Bomber. This is "supposedly" the reason why he was dubbed Mega Man in the states. Can't remember where this infro was from, so don't necessarily count it as true already.

I thought the name was changed because they thought Americans wouldn't get/like the running gag about the names and was changed to'Megaman' because it sounded more American.

Or something like that.

MegaMan Matrix sounds SO much better than RockMan Matrix. And the abbreviation, MMM. RMM looks so lame and too similar to RPM. So changing RockMan to MegaMan is a good thing.
