How can something so awesome make me want to slit my wrists so badly?
This is seriously going too far. A line has been crossed. The line that separated joy from disgust, it's been crossed. Whatever though, I think the Soul Series, as much as I love it, is going to end with this one. I can't see it surviving such a long leap to a Galaxy far, far away. I believe it will fall short halfway and fall into the pits of crossover Hell. This isn't the first thing I've seen that I haven't liked about the comming addition to the series. I mean, have you seen how much Nightmare's design is getting screwed?

As odd as it sounds, I think it actually fits quite nicely.

I like the choices for Yoda and Vader, though. I'm glad they didn't use Luke or Darth Maul.
I'm not a big fan of Star Wars, but it's impossible to deny that both Yoda and Vader are great and well-developed characters in comparison to everyone else in the movies. Yoda's a bit more flat than Vader, though.

The problem is they're from a long, long time ago in a galaxy far, far way. A galaxy full of futuristic technology. It makes no sense that they'd be running around in Europe and Asia during the late 16th century. I mean Link, Heihachi, and Spawn actually made some sense being there, but this is just too far.

Neither Link, nor Spawn made any sense being in that era or place. And I'm unclear on Heihachi's full story as I've forgotten it since I hate him, but I'm sure he had no place there either.

Link is from a totally different planet or something. Spawn is from some modern city. Heihachi is modern too, I think?

Anyway I'm not a big fan of this Star Wars deal. Mainly 'cause I know Vader's just gonna be another Nightmare, and I'm not a Nightmare fan. Yoda will probably be faster than Talim. That's just wrong because Talim pushes the edge of speed in those games enough already.

Now, I didn't really read the article. Just the headline, a bit about which version has which, and checked out the pictures. Anything about a Wii version? Wii could get either a crap character (Maul, Dooku), because unless it's Luke or Obi, there aren't many other principal Jedi/Sith in the movies that I think are good enough for the spot... Except Kit Fisto, but he's not well-known so no dice.

Soul Calibur II is still the best.

I don't think Wii is getting Soul Calibur 4. I think Namco just tossed Soul Calibur Legends at Nintendo so they'd maybe not notice them handing Soul Calibur 4 to Microsoft and Sony.

Well the Soul series is also in the past...so they made a pass by of Earth and detected an energy signal (Soul Edge) so huge they decided to check it out?

Hmm. As long as Cassandra gets another good story I'm happy regardless of the rest.

Well Link even in his own stories bridges dimensions or alternate universes fairly easily like going to the dark dimension.

Heihachi was supposedly pulled into the past by a piece of Soul Edge that survived into his time or it might have. In the end his story was a dream sequence apparently.

Spawn made the least sense but even his boss (Maleglobia?) wanted to get Soul Edge's power to add it to his own and since it doesn't exist in that universe Maleglobia opens a portal and sends Spawn to obtain it.

They all made enough sense and even Star Wars makes sense kind of since both stories do supposedly take place in the past and well there's nothing to stay Starships don't usually pass Earth and take no notice of it until they notice Soul Edges presence.

In case none of you have noticed, the "story" to the SC games is beyond-a-joke mental anyway, so it really doesn't matter who gets tossed in there.

Nope, Yoda fits as much as that stupid little dino in old Tekken games. There are new characters that can fit the timeline, there are others that don't fit the timeline or story but fit the fighting/gameplay. Yoda doesn't fit anywhere. I just hope you don't have to unlock something cool by using him.

I'm best with Talim, as she was the first character I ever used (back when I first played it in an arcade before the console versions were released) and I'm pretty good with Maxi. I'm not bad with other characters but I'm not so hot with the slow guys. But I don't care 'cause I'm never into slow guys.

They all made enough sense and even Star Wars makes sense

I have to disagree. Okay here we go hatcha-cha-chaaa;

Link's dimension travelling always just brings him to other dimensions of Hyrule. Or at least places that look and/or act just like people do in Hyrule. If he ever went anywhere REALLY different, we'd have seen him in like the future or on alien worlds. Even if I'm willing to buy that he dimension travelled to Earth, that's pretty weak, and off the top of my head the only non-Hyrule dimension he traveled to was the place in Majora's Mask. And that's moot because that game is Majora Ass.

Heihachi is a gay and so is his face and his is the only plausible story being that they had the testes to admit it was totally bogus, but I could've accepted a piece of Soul Edge bringing him back anyway I guess. Moving on.

Spawn's story actually kind of works. Spawn has been sent to "Elseworlds" or something all the time (as I can tell by the amount of different versions of Spawn there are in the toys at my work, Gunslinger Spawn FTW by the way). But last I knew, the devil was his "boss". 'Course I don't read Spawn anyway.

As for Vader and Yodes, the galaxy in Star Wars is not even completely explored in the BOOKS (many of which take place whole GENERATIONS after Luke Skywalker is gone), I've heard they have no clue where the Chiss come from. So there's no way Darth Vader or Yoda (who are both dead OMGSPOILER) would ever find their far far way over to OUR galaxy and then to our backwater solar system and land on our tiny planet during their lifetime. Doesn't happen.

All that said, I really don't care about how plausible each person's story is. As Abe said the SC stories are pretty back asswards in the first place.

Nope, Yoda fits as much as that stupid little dino in old Tekken games.

HEY! Gon Gon may not fit in, but he's the damn sheriff as far as anyone's concerned. That dino kicks the biggest of asses. But yes he doesn't fit in at all and is a total cheap out character with no business in the game.

Yoda will definitely be ridiculously agile and dodgy (in a good way, not in a you-can't-trust-him way). He'll fit in with the gameplay but he'll be pushing it.

I forget which one of my gaming magazines talked about it (I'll look it up tomorrow or the day after that), but word has it that a few months after the game is released, you'll be able to buy the console-exclusive characters through PS3 and 360's marketplaces (much like how you can get New Goblin for Spider-Man 3 over Live Marketplace even though originally he was a PS3 exclusive).

In other words, PS3 owners will be able to buy Yoda a few months later, 360 users will be able to get Vader. They also hinted at other Star Wars characters begin available, including Jango Fett. Why him, I don't know.

The potential implications of having exclusive characters that are allied with good and evil, combined with the nature of the competing systems, just occurred to me.

Are we to assume that the 360 is good and that the PS3 is evil?...

...or that the PS3 was good but became evil?...

...or that the PS3 is inherently more powerful/cool than the 360?...

...or that the 360 is a Muppet?...

...or that the PS3 has a sexy black mans voice?...

...or that when all this is said and done, both systems will be dead, but will still hang around in spirit?...

Or that...

*wanders off rambling to himself*
