Oh, believe me, I know. There's a whole plethora of things.
I know you're supposed to memorize different face structures and be able to recognize them, lots of things about different types of eyes, lips, noses, etc., stuff about hair.
And you have to exaggerate all that without making it look offensive.

Like, I assume somebody who has an overly huge nose and is sensitive about it wouldn't like to see it exaggerated so much on a cartoon drawn by a stranger. That would be the tough part for me.

And yeah, it still has to look like them, and they have to do it quickly, too.

My drawing teacher once wanted me to volunteer to draw caricatures at some event at one of our districts middle schools. I was flattered that she thought I was capable, but I kindly told her I didn't think I'd be able to handle that.

One time, I got my caricature done and the artist told me I was fun to draw. Definitely among the oddest compliments I've recieved.

The fixed version. And I'm glad none of you noticed that the original version needed fixing.
Extra point to anyone who finds out what was wrong with the original aside from the tie not being fully shaded in.

You're like, the hottest anyone can be in a game of "hot and cold."

And that includes playing "hot and cold" with Mandy Moore.

You're hotter than Mandy Moore, John.

Remember that photo of me with Mandy Moore?

That was just a trick.

It was actually a photo of me with Alec Robbins.

Yes.

That's right.

I'm actually Mandy Moore.

Now the story of a horribly time-consuming piece-of-crap ink drawing. GOB's head is too small, Buster looks too old, and George-Michael (that's Michael Cera to you deprived folks) looks like a #####ing creeper. I also drew it so scrunched up that I had to change a couple poses, most notably Michael's, who is now leaning on his knees and supporting his head with his hand. And it looks ridiculous. But George Senior and Lucille make it all worth it to me.

It's Arrested Developmink.

Other things that bother me are Tobias' arm and Tobias' face.

But thank you. I do like it, still.

Next on the agenda: a similar drawing of the Seinfeld cast, and then maybe one of the Scrubs cast. And at one point, I want to copy the Hot Dead drawing onto a posterboard.

You should also draw the House cast.
Or just Hugh Laurie. You'd do him great justice.

If you keep this up... you could become a pretty decent caricature artist.

As I've already stated, no caricatures for me.

Cartooning is my passion, this is just a fun little detour phase I'm going through.

As for the cast of House, I'd rather get my favorites out of the way first. Which means Seinfeld, Scrubs, Lost, and Entourage get priority.

Though Lost will be a bitch to draw.

Shush, you.

... why is House not on your list of favorites?
It is, but I only watch it spontaneously and haven't seen any complete seasons so I don't feel as attached to it as the other shows on the list.

If I had to list my favorite TV-shows... well, copy/pasted from Facebook:

: Favorite TV-Shows
IN ABSOLUTELY NO PARTICULAR ORDER:
- Lost
- Heroes
- House
- Seinfeld
- South Park
- Scrubs
- The Office UK
- Entourage
- Flight of the Conchords
- Doctor Who
- Peep Show
- The Office
- Invader Zim
- Clone High
- Kenan & Kel
- Arrested Development
- Curb Your Enthusiasm
- Extras
- Dead Like Me

I use notecards for almost everything. I doodle on them, jot down ideas, and I always have stacks of them in my room.

My point is that they've become a major part of my life.

And sometimes I just write down really weird stuff on them and then just store them away.

So today, I found this one. I made it a couple weeks ago and forgot about it. And I decided to take a picture of it, but position it nicely around related content. So it's sort of photography, in a way.

It has swear words and is sort of explicit, so click at your own risk.

You guys don't get to see my random sketches a lot, but most of them are entirely nonsensical and spur-of-the-moment things that never go on to be anything more.

I watched a lot of Spaced today and it really put me in a creative mood, so I finally got off my ass and tried drawing some new versions of my own self as a cartoon, this time really trying to make it ME.

Here's a few, and I kept the notes I scrawled beside them each intact.

You have Lunche eyebrows, they look alright in the first pic. I really think you should outline the hair first instead of scribbling it all in. But it looks cool.

Ha, nice.

I like the second one best I think, but it looks like I have a receding hairline.
I really need to find a way to do the hair. I have a really boring hairstyle, it's literally just there and I don't do anything with it. I've never found a way to make it look good in any cartoon caricatures. I used to make it blonde because I was blonde as a kid but my hair got darker, and it had a more anime tinge to it like the way you do Wind.

But I grew bored of that and I'm still having trouble making it work.

I hate my face in the third one, but I like the pose.

Also, the first one has the perfect expression I was going for and the face seems great but everything else about it is meh.

Hmm. There's something off about each of them.
Not enough structure to the body, I think. Lots of detail on the face, but the body suffers a lot.

Try doing some more realistic body studies, then go back to your own style and see what happens.

Well, I've concluded that I hate all of them and really want to start over again and make the definitive Alec work. Because I have some ideas that probably will never make it past my creative wall but as always, I'm trying to.

And yeah, recently I did a lot of realistic drawings, as evidenced by the ink drawings of my friends and tons of other stuff. It did help.

If you don't want dark hair, you'll have to draw the shape of the hair and not the individual strands since you're using a sharpie.

DON'T STOP MMM NOW - HALF-FINISHED VERSION

This is that "SUPER CLASSIFIED SECRET PROJECT" that I've been working on. Wind helped with a little, like the drawing of JC punching Jake, and the image which I hope will replace the Placeholder image in the beginning. Also some ideas. I should note that JC spawned the entire bit with Mike by giving me the idea in an AIM conversation.

It's an .SWF file, so you need Flash Player to watch it. It's also very delicate, so when watching it, make sure you don't switch to any other windows, or click anything, or tamper with it, because any of that may cause it to lose the audio sync.

It's only half-finished right now. The only reason I'm posting it now is because I don't think I'll ever fully finish it. I've still got so much more to do, and I'm leaving for college soon, and then I'll never touch it again. So, this has taken months to get even this far. Appreciate this much.

Drag the .SWF into your browser, and it should play. Unless Macs do things differently.

If you have Flash Player, you should be able to just double-click and view it in the window size that it was meant to be viewed in.

If you view it in your browser, you'll get a lot of extra space off the edges that wasn't meant to be seen. Unless you size the window perfectly.

Anyway, John apparently got it to work in video form, so maybe if it's good enough I'll upload it to Youtube.

For Space Rez, I'm pretty sure I actually traced your original drawing. I still love it.

What's sad is, I had done that not very long after you posted that. That's how long this thing has been in production. And there were months before that, even, because the intro black/white section was made LONG before I did anything inside Nova's mouth.
