ALREADY IN THE VIDEOSHARE TOPIC A FEW DAYS AGO. Thanks to me. It doesn't change the fact that it is the best poop ever. Posted on: August 02, 2008, 07:23:53 PM

Tell me, -were there hot springs? -was there an absurd amount of flashbacks? -Was there a fight at the end? -Does Viral show up?
If all that stuff is there, I can live with it.
Yes, but only Kamina and Simon everyone else didn't exist. Yes. Yes. Yes. You have to see it to understand why I was so crushed by its suckage. I seriously trusted the dub. I trusted it!

I finally decided to watch this show from beginning to end.
It was.. ALRIGHT.
Maybe it was too over hyped, so I was let down in a big way but... It felt mediocre.
I'll admit, I liked some of the robot designs, but most of the characters ended up feeling really vague and undeveloped, so I didn't really care when 90% of them died near the end of the series. Save for Kittan, who I didn't really care for that much, since he was basically a stand in for Kamina, who I couldn't care less about either.
Seriously, I just could not bring myself to even CARE about Kamina, even when he died, since it was obvious from the beginning that Simon was basically what made the whole Gurren Lagann thing work, but everyone treated Simon like he was the tagalong and Kamina like some super badass.
I think the series was better before they beat Genome, afterward it was just kind of... "Okay, now get to the good part".
The whole Spiral thing was kind of dumb, but the anti-spiral looked pretty cool... Save for that weird mouth thing he had going on.
Also, making the molepig turn into a human being thing seemed very pointless.
In the end, there were some cool, and some funny things, such as the robots designs, piloting a giant robot, which pilots an even bigger robot, which pilots one even bigger than that, which pilots one that is ridiculous in size, and the line "Screwing is manly".
But there are better shows out there, there's even better shows by that studio (Gainax).
On that point, why are all of their shows basically coming of age stories?
And why do they have to keep throwing in that pseudo-psychological crap ALL THE TIME?
Seriously, I've had enough of it.
Anyway, basically it's an okay show, but I don't think it deserves all the praise that everyone showers over it, or the wanking.
