Aight. My parents are now thinking about taking me to the dealership for a car.

I know little to nothing about them. This should be a good topic to discuss automobiles.

I need something that doesn't guzzle down gas and my money, easy to maintain, and any other good stuff I'm forgetting. I'm thinking about a Toyota. Help?

Go with a Toyota Camry if it's your first. They get pretty good gas mileage and have pretty decent safety ratings as well.

Honestly though, any Toyota or Honda is a safe bet.

Volkswagen's have a history of great performance. We just traded ours in this summer, it was 18 years old and held up incredibly for it's age. The only reason we traded it in was that it finally started having engine problems after so long, and we needed something that would

I mean, cars built in the 80's aren't exactly the bomb anymore but it was indescribably good condition for that long of a run. Compliments to myself for a lot of body work done in summer 2006.

We now have a Pontiac Wave, which sounds bad and looks quite small but it's roomy and the fuel economy isn't bad. It is a smaller car though, with those little car wheels they use on small cars nowadays, but it's not as  small as it looks at first glance so I guess it just takes some getting used to. It's FAR lighter than my Jetta was, naturally, though.

I like to think it's kind of Euro, but I'm in North America so that's just stupid. Like thinking you're cool and futuristic with your headpiece cell phone when we're all in the present thinking you look like a #####ing knob with your martian cybernetic ear.

THIS ISN'T PILOTWINGS.

THEN WHAT THE ##### ARE WE FIGHTING FOR?

What? Is your city not zoned for Jetpack use?

Whatever you do, don't get a Jeep.

We had one for a little over five years, and it was a piece of #####.

Yeah, get a Camry. I have one and it couldn't be any better. Especially since gas doesn't cost 20 cents per gallon where you live, unlike here in Kuwait.

My parents are looking at Toyota Corollas and Camrys negatively right now, since they say I can't afford one at all. Are there any suggestions for cheap affordable cars that I won't regret in the future?

EDIT: Looks like I'm looking at $7,000 or less.

No such thing as a cheap affordable car you won't regret in the future.

Cheap cars hemorrhage money.

I stand by what I said about Honda's and Toyota's. Try and find one used.

Check college newspapers.

Thanks Edge. I tried asking my mom that question, and she didn't help me at all. Her idea of helping was giving me random newspaper ads for vehicles like trucks and SUVs.

Yeah, unless you piss gas, I'd avoid Trucks or SUVs.

Try to find a Honda Civic (hatchback), they're a pretty good bet all the way around...

... except for insurance costs. Number one stolen car in America.

There are two models of cars that I really adore, and those are the old Mini Coopers and the Volkswagon Buses.

Needless to say, I saw THIS and nearly came.

Look at it. It is SOOOO nice. And has some wonderful mileage.

I love it, the shape, the color, leather seats.... God damn i wish I had money for it.

And THIS is similarly boner inducing.

If I had this or this, that cross country road trip that I want to do would be more plausible.

I live in a place with a fairly excellent bus system, where everything is within walking or biking distance from, like, everything else.

You could even, technically, get to Seattle from here on nothing but city buses.

It's a pretty long ride that way, though, and you're better off with a Greyhound.

Uh

Cars, though.

Hm... I've always had a thing for motorcycles, personally, though I know next to nothing about them. I grew up with a bright-green 80s Trans Am(?), and I've kind of wanted one of my own.

We called it the Lean Mean Green Machine. >_>;

The thing is, I don't actually know what kind of car it was, only that it was neon green, had two doors, and looked very similar to a Trans Am in shape.

I was "Five-and-a-half" when I had clear memories of it, and we got a Buick Skylark shortly after.

I believe that Ford's are the way to go with cars, mines a 1993 Tarsus and it hasn't died yet.
