His colouring is blue. He's Depressian. Sonic needed an "evil" counterpart. Shadow fit that roll. That's enough hedgehogs for me. Sonic, Shadow, and Amy.
Silver just made me think, "... Great. ANOTHER Sonic character."
Exactly. But like Alec said, he never needed an evil counterpart. Shadow is completely contrived and unoriginal. It's great Sonic has lots of characters, but there doesn't need to be multiple fast hedgehogs. Amy is annoying as #####ing hell, but at least she's not forced on us enough to have a lead role or story center around her. Yes, you had to go through her story in SA, but it was easy and quick. Shadow has his own game, for chrisseggs, and it sucks out loud.

Well they could've gone a lot better with it, but I liked Shadow when he first popped in. He just happened to pop in when Sonic games started to suck. Sonic didn't NEED an "evil counterpart." He had a villain.
Can't think of the word, and I'm too lazy to think, but I always wanted there to be one in Sonic. Shadow was it. Same for Mega Man. Mega Man had a villan too, Dr. Wily, but Bass popped in and fitted the role well. I think the word I'm looking for is antagonist. EDIT: Actually, I think Shadow is the LAST new Sonic character I like. There's E-123, but he was... I dunno. Meh. In general, I don't like looking at the cover of a Sonic game and seeing a face I don't recognize. They have TONS of characters as it is.
