Behold. Hydnora africana in full bloom. AAAARGGHH Is anyone else singing the Vagina Dentata song?I don't know too much about this flower, aside from that it's a root parasite of the Euphorbia caput-medusae. It doesn't seem to harm the host plant much, aside from making it look like a FREAKING TENTACLE BEAST. Oh, and the flower smells like crap, and is pollinated by dung beetles. GRRRR

It was all adding up to a laughter, and the last panel made it all come home. Hahah, nice Mike, I'm saving that. Posted on: 15 June 2008, 08:28:01
Now, since we're near the subject of pokemon, I'd like to show this image. Probably the worst pokemon I've seen in my life, hands down. As I quote myself to express my disgust. "I'd rather lick a dead hookers asshole than raise this piece of #####." It's so ugly I'm spoiler tagging it.

Meme? It's a linguistic/philosophical concept.
The usage online is a nasty corruption of the actual term, which simply is the notion of representing speech and ideas as genetic information... ... successful ideas reproduce and spread, unsuccessful ones slowly die out (or quickly).
Viral marketing is based on this concept, creating nastily catchy ideas that hijack or take free rides on established ideas to force their idea information into active use.
As used on the internet, the term "meme" only seems to refer to this highly viral idealogical content, e.g. "I'M IN UR BASE, KILLIN UR MANS", etc.
The word itself is a shortened form of mimeme, Greek for "something imitated", chosen to sound like "gene".
Anyway, you'll not get away from them. It's just cultural data, and every image, ever word spoken, written and typed... they're all memes.
I digress; with the exception of the bottom right, this picture is substantially awesome and totally not viral at all. mostly
