Me and opal were talking about the stickies last night, ourselves... I'm actually preparing to have to write a rant or two about how I think the MMM needs to adopt it's old 'stuck up the ass' standards...

Whoever came up with these deserves a medal or something.

This is the ceiling in a smoker's lounge.

And this is the floor in a bathroom

EDIT: Okay, images were bigger than I thought.  Linked.

They're not 'Shopped, trust me.  I'd like to see what makes them so "obvious".

Anyway, eh.  I guess different things just impress different people.

Uh...

They're obviously two different scenes "photoshopped" together for a certain effect each.

The first one is obviously an open grave looking up, smoking will kill you and all that.

The bathroom one confuses me, though.

Alright, so the smokers' lounge MIGHT be an image superimposed on the actual ceiling, but it's doubtful.

Trouble with those pictures is they only work when viewed from a certain angle, so they'd HAVE to be shopped pictures. Otherwise you'd move a few inches to the left and the image becomes all bent and silly.

The bathroom is clearly made to look like the room is above clouds, in case people had trouble seeing that. Oh man, that'd be so weird. Have a bathroom floor made from a giant glass-covered LCD playing an animated picture that changes based on a headtracker or something. Of course it'd be difficult to track a head without something mounted on the head, but I'm sure it's theoretically possible.

Of course it wouldn't work if two people decided to... nevermind.

What I don't understand is what the bathroom one is supposed to represent.

It might be a false assumption, but based on the message of the smokers' lounge one, the bathroom one seems like it's saying something too.

I remember at the Science Centre in Toronto there was this thing where you lay on it face first and look through these eye holes at a mirror reflecting an image off a screen from a bird's eye view. You had your arms outstretched and you were watching an image of the ground quite far below, and you were flying. In the last minute you're flying at some animal that's trying to jump away from you and then the screen goes black.

All it does for me is give me an intense urge to grab something. Even on a plane, looking out the window, I'm like "What. The. #####. There is nothing below me. I am not connected to the ground in any way. WTF." You know? It's not overly scary, I can bear it, it's just... buggy. It doesn't feel right.

I'm almost certain the smoker's lounge is from an anti-smoking ad, making it shopped.

Glass floors -- especially when I'm very very high off the ground -- just make me want to wet myself. :|

Late reply, but I think Cherry means these are works of art placed on the ceiling/floor, rather than your stupid average everyday "dude, this is a cool image that represents my generation because my generation can alter images!!!!!!111"

Which would totally explain the bathroom floor, thing because, it'd be trippy, taking a #### or a duce, looking down at that. Though the pipe under the toilet and the falling guy are stupidly artificial in anything but the image's angle, as a still frame.

THAT'S what that was. I see it now.

I don't know, the guy was upside down, and I just wasn't looking at it properly or something.

Both of them don't work except as a still frame, and it'd be stupid to paint a picture on a floor or ceiling that only works from a certain angle. That, if nothing else, is logically why the picture would be shopped. Less time, money and effort, same result. No one should be saying there's anything wrong with the pictures being shopped, anyway, so we're good.

The image itself isn't interested, but... Miracle Fruit:

Read about it:

: Wikipedia
The berry contains an active glycoprotein molecule, with some trailing carbohydrate chains, called miraculin. When the fleshy part of the fruit is eaten, this molecule binds to the tongue's taste buds, causing bitter and sour foods to taste sweet. While the exact cause for this change is unknown, one hypothesis is that the effect may be caused if miraculin works by distorting the shape of sweetness receptors "so that they become responsive to acids, instead of sugar and other sweet things." This effect lasts between thirty minutes and two hours.

People who have tried lemons after a bite of one of these things have said that it was the best lemon they have ever eaten.

There are NO side effects. None. Only bad thing about it is if you eat too much acidic food (like lemons) then you will have mouth ulcers.

Its illegal in the United States because Sugar Companies were like, "OMG WE GUNN LOSE MONIES!" and so they sabotaged the whole Miracle Berry project (you can read about that here).

Its still legal everywhere else in the world, but only Asia really sells them, as they're the only ones who successfully grown the plant (Except for the US) in an environment that its not used to.

If I feel generous, I may mail few tablets out to mah fellow Matricians. ;)

They come back, the effect only lasts for an hour or so. Your taste buds don't ever permanently change no matter how much you take this stuff (people in Africa take them all the time before meals).
