Everything is just jumbled up and nothing really seems new. It's just "redesigned" and awkward.

The new facebook setup puts applications where they belong.

As much I hate applications, I like having Boston Celtics Fans and Superpowers ON my page. As well as the This Page is Green thing and whatever.

I could do without all that "fan of" crap, as there's absolutely no regulation to it.

Watchmen arrived today.

Read the first chapter already, and I'm definitely hooked. Great stuff so far, and I've hardly just begun.

But I'd never go to Disneyland unless you payed the way.

You are, by FAR, missing out.

I don't feel like going to Disneyland.

And even though I've been there like, ten times, I still have the urge to visit Universal. Let's go there.

ASR'S JOURNAL.
AUGUST 1st, 2008:

Dog carcass in the alley. Finished Watchmen.

Definitely single-greatest thing ever read. Looks to hold up to future readings. Must investigate further.

Seems impossible that upcoming movie will satisfy. Unlikely to translate well to film. Highly reccomended everyone reads in original format.

Worked the store today. Almost caught up with my comics finally, but Barrell still comes in and #####s me over for it all by talking to me for hours. At least I'm almost back on track.

Got a "Step Brothers" sweat band. I didn't really care about it, but it's red, white, and blue, and I wanted a sweat band like that. Free is free and I can hide the "Step Brothers" logo on the inside of my forearm enough.

Bought Fables: 1001 Nights of Snowfall, which I have yet to read. Also bought a couple comics I'd already read but are part of what I collect, and a Mini Munny (yaaay!).

Went to the Rideau Centre after work and bought two new CDs; NaS's new album with the controversial no-title, and Be Your Own Pet's album called "Get Awkward!"

I haven't listened to either yet, but I have some tracks from the Be Your Own Pet album downloaded already, including the song "Becky" which was banned in North America because it says "We'll wait with knives after class". Seriously. What the hell?

After that I visited Jess at her work and waited around for her while they closed the store then bussed back with her. Got eaten by some mosquitoes while waiting for my transfer bus (she got a ride from her parents from where we got off).

Tomorrow I'm going to see "Step Brothers" with her. I don't really want to see it, have heard mixed reviews, but she wants to and I've seen everything I wanted to see that's currently out anyway.

OH and this is for ASR; Yesterday I finished The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy and will start The Restaurant at the End of the Universe this weekend. Which is a long weekend.

Seems impossible that upcoming movie will satisfy. Unlikely to translate well to film. Highly reccomended everyone reads in original format.

Agree, but I'll be seeing it fooo sho. The prettiness of the movie actually goes against the idea of the book. The artist of the book can draw incredibly, but he had to dull it all out and-I think I've invented a great term here-boreify it all because that's what the STORY had to be like.

I'll definitely see it, too, and I'm damn excited for it now. I'm just glad that I actually chose Watchmen to get off my ass and read before the movie, unlike 300, which I was originally going to buy and read, yet now I don't feel like it. I would do the same for V for Vendetta, and since I never saw the movie either, I'm thinking about it.

Anyway, my point is that there's a LOT of stuff that simply cannot be translated into film. I'll be able to subconsciously fill in the missing bits because I've experienced it as intended, but I don't think it'll be a hit in much the same way the Hitchhiker's Guide movie suffered: it only appealed and made sense to fans, and butchered much of its entirety so that even the fans disliked it.

I'd LOVE to be proven wrong, though.

And back on the topic of Hitchhiker's Guide, I'll just point out to you that Life, The Universe, And Everything is my favorite of the batch.

V for Vendetta is way more boring in the book. I'm not a fan of the movie 300, really, so I'll never read it.

I have a feeling 300 would be a really boring comic, which is why I've never bothered. I was going to read it before the movie, but I never got the chance, and now I just don't care. But I did like the movie.

And I only have slight interest in V for Vendetta. It doesn't seem to be to interesting to me.

Watchmen just kicked a lot of ass, though. Rorschach has an amazing costume, the sort of thing I wish I'd thought up myself.

Rorschach was originally supposed to be The Question, who is wicked but I'm very glad they weren't allowed to use The Question.

I've never been big on comics or anything, so naturally I have no idea who The Question is, but I like that name for, well, is he a superhero? Or whatever. Yeah. I like the name, either way.

I feel like I would've really liked comics if I had gotten more into them as a kid. Especially with the big superhero boom lately because of movie adaptations, I've become a lot more interested in them.

Yeah, I already looked him up after that post. I can definitely see the similarities.

But was he... like, the same as Rorschach? How much is different? Personality-wise, I mean. I'm guessing very.

I can't say, I haven't read enough of either. But what I have read, they're rather similar. The Question is more of a conspiracy theorist type who seeks out the truth, kind of like a Mulder but that's a shoddy simile. Rorschach is more of a badass, probably.

I'm back if anyone has noticed.

I got me some Final Fantasy IV DS and a new 4GB Memory Stick for my PSP (word of advice: Don't buy memory sticks from eBay).

In other news, I'm happy that I've saved up $2000 for college. I initially had a goal of $1500 but my last paystub showed that I also got payed for the extra sick and vacation hours I had, boosting my pay up to $750 which was a huge "whoa" for me.

Now that I'm back, I'll get right on Solitude Bay now.

We have RipStik now. They're hard to explain, look it up.

I took a nasty fall today and messed up my elbow. It was so worth it, though. I have a high pain tolerance, so I jumped back up, swore a bit, and laughed. It was fun.

RipStiks look very stupid.

Today, I got up late, played some San Andreas, and went to the movies with Jess. We planned to see Step Brothers but wouldn't have gotten seats together so after a big long amount of time trying to decide what to see, we saw the new X-Files movie instead.

It's cool to be able to ride without really lifting your feet off the ground to pedal or anything. It's tough to go uphill, though, but at least it's possible.

Rollerblading is similar to ice skating.

Ironically, I could never use roller blades as a kid, but I could ice skate. Maybe it had something to do with handrails.

They are the popular threads where we post new stuff daily, it makes sense they're stickied. I don't think we need as many of these threads as there are, but the sticky I don't even notice or care about.

Also I kind of tried out a new style today, and looked pretty boss.

It would make sense if we maybe had a sub-board for them, since they've gotten so numerous.

It only really annoys me because of the disorder (it #####s with the order, and the "New"s aren't in true chronological order).

Yesterday I drove to New York State and went shopping. Had the worst Arby's ever. Bought clothes and groceries and then came back. Was supposed to hang out with Jess but we just had a good talk instead. And then I decided to play San Andreas into the late night (no work today 'cause it's a long weekend) and am tired today, bleh.

My ankle has gone from the size of Texas to the size of Rhode Island in swelling (despite twisting it again), so I'm pretty happy with how it's healing. Three days with no need for pain meds. :3

We're flat broke, and if it weren't for my mother, I'd be walking across town to work. It's maybe three or four miles, but still -- I'd have to start walking way early to get there, and then my uniform would be all bleh by the time I got there.

I don't work tomorrow, which is ironic, since we'll actually have money at some point tomorrow.

Everything from Arby's is the worst Arby's ever. Honestly, I don't know how the hell the CORPORATION (never mind the franchises) keeps afloat with such mediocre food.
