I can't choose between X1 and X4.

I've played X1 more, so it's more meaningful, but X4 is just as solid and wonderful. I'll decide later.

I actually rather liked Maverick Hunter X, but I voted for X1 because that's the one I liked the best out of the given  choices. I really -hated- X4, sorry, and it's not just the English voice dub that got me. There was just something that irked me about it. The music was pretty good though.

X5 is also high on my list, but it's not all that challenging, and X6 is also high up there because I found it fun to play, though the Engrish could have been remedied, however amusing Sigma's final lines were.

X8 was a fun and beautiful game, but not all that good. >.<

I really don't understand why anyone doesn't believe Sigma's final lines in X6 weren't more a result of him being incomplete. I mean the rest of the game is coherent enough, why would it suddenly get shot to hell? There's that, and yet everyone seems convinced it wasn't written that way on purpose.

But I guess I'll go with X1/X2.

Maverick Hunter X =/= X1.  X1 is superior in every respect save possibly the updated visuals which are actually true to the original rather than the crap redesign we got in X8.

I pick X4... it was my first X game and I still play it to this day.

I don't own X1... so I can't really play it enough to love it as much as X4... D:

Hi, I'm new here. My favorite straight up is X8 followed by X1, I've played all of them, and have to say that X4 is my least favorite, it was just too easy, X7 was next least, it was just insanely difficult, not that I don't like a challenge, but X7 was too much.

I love all of the games, But I like challenge over ease, that and it took me just one week to beat X4 with both characters.

 I would have to say x4........it was a bit frustrating at first. took me a while to beat it(by a while i mean 8 years :-[) . if you have never played it, you should try playing it

Well, the falling spikes suck, but he's not too bad to dodge.
Just get on the opposite side when he uses his 3 stingers and under him when he uses the falling spikes.

I hate his tongue though.

Whatever, I gave some love to X3, mainly because of the Blizzard Buffalo Stage theme.
Honestly I like X1 and X4 better, but whatever.

once i knew the boss order, it was a piece of cake, even with zero, the only challenge was accidentally using a subtank. With 4th armor, it was way too easy. However that may have been because I first played X1, 5, and 6, so I knew what was coming, by the time I got to play X4 every one had the list of bosses to fight out.

Not really..... zero is an easy character to control ( for me anyway). I even beat the game with zero and its kinda easy if you know every bosses attack pattern and weakness. But with x, its hard and challenging ...... most of my friends didn't even get to see the end of the game with x, just zero, and only the 8 bosses and 2 first forms of sigma are easy, not the last 2.
