Hitchhiker's Guide explained Elvis' disappearance better than anyone else has.

Well, the movie did nothing about Elvis, it's the books that cover it. Mostly Harmless, I believe, though unbelievably I can't remember if it was that one or So Long.

If it happened in So Long And Thanks For All The Fish or in Mostly Harmless, then why would it be in the movie?

Chitty Chitty Bang Bang?

The movie mixes some things from all over, but they're always very tiny and very subtle, more like homages to the other books. It's very different than the first book, anyway, so it's not like it matters. The movie is its own incarnation, anyway. I just know that it never references Elvis.

I checked, and the Elvis bit happens in Mostly Harmless. He gets pretty much his own chapter and I'm pretty sure they never even say his name.

Does the movie do the story of the whole series, more or less? Or just the first book?

Jess and I were originally racing to read the books but she's tried before and for whatever reason just can't get into them. She said she likes the movie though.

The movie is a re-imagining of the first book, if it were an extremely Hollywood-ified movie.

Douglas Adams himself wrote the original draft of the script, and several versions of it I might add, but they hired someone else to revise it once more before they finally made it into a real movie.

I personally don't know how much of the movie was Douglas and how much was rewrites, but overall it has a really different flavor.

There's obligatory Hollywood-style romantic-comedy romances, and it follows a generic movie formula flow, but it's still Hitchhiker's Guide.

Just covers the events of the first book, with an ending that wraps it up right there and doesn't leave anything open for more. Well, it does, but it wouldn't be the same.

Cause I said it was an awesome movie which relates to how I said that Back to the Future is an awesome movie which relates to Elvis being alive which relates to Heath Ledger being alive which is really the main point of this whole thing.

No. If you want to be a real man you must walk down a road made of your memories and the memories of your companions leading up to a massive galaxy that extends further to a single isolated star.

WRONG.

Ross isn't funny until he's a complete goof, and it's better once the rest of the characters are finally solid.

Plus Paul Rudd is in later episodes, so you're done sir.
