IIRC, Halo 2 was sold at Best Buys two weeks before it actually came out. Of course, Microsoft told them to stop, but people still got their copies.

The game may be already shipped to many stores around NA, ready for launch day. And like I said, it's not uncommon for some stores to release big name games before the release.

Brawl was first delayed because of Sonic and the second delay was due to more time being needed for extra copies to be produced.
