Seriously, that's awesome, since it saves me about $500 to play the latest installment in a generic RPG series that's all fluff and flash for a quick bit of cash. Now me and countless others have a title in the future that will basically ensue we have a strong case of RRoD in the near future, and everyone wins financially but us! Woohoo!

Guess it's a good thing Microsoft announced yet another 360 variation to phase out the old 20 GB model, since this thing is supposed to be a beast on the space it's going to take up, eh? EH!?!

I could care less about Final Fantasy, but I guess it's a good thing for those who like it that don't want a PS3.

Now we need MGS4 to come out on the 360. But I don't see that happening...

FFXII wasn't awful, it was just okay for me. I liked the customization parts of it and the battle system but other than that the game kinda felt soulless.

I'm not interested in XIII eiether.

This makes me unhappy. I don't ever expect to play another good final fantasy game, but now because it's being put in the 360, it won't be able to live up to the full potential it could have had.

Yeah, FF has been crap lately. Last good one was 10.

But this game does look nice, the graphics and designs look really cool.

If it's on more than one platform, it won't be a good game.
If it's Final Fantasy, it won't be a good game.

FFXIII has both of these qualities.
It is not a good game.

When you make a game that's transferable between the Windows and UNIX operating environments (XBox and PS3 respectively), a lot of shortcuts have to be made on one system or the other. Neither version can use the platform's potential properly.

That's not so bad for the 360, because it's already at its potential limit.
The PS3, on the other hand, is part super-computer. Like every Sony console to date, it will take quite some time before it's used properly.

But it will never happen if people continue to release games multi-platform.
It's laziness, and shouldn't be acceptable.

I won't even get myself started on Square hatred.

Actually, Square-Enix says that they're only going to focus on the PS3's version until it gets released in Japan, and then they'll make us North Americans wait a year longer as they prepare the Xbox 360 version AND localization at the same time to release both PS3 and Xbox 360 versions here.

EDIT: And only here. Xbox 360 version is NA and Europe only.

Because the Xbox 360 sucks in Japan.

I heard a person at gamestop today saying they wanted to sell their PS3 because FFXIII was going to be ported on the 360.

Haha.

It's also a small downloadable game with less than half the effort put into it than could have been.

That's just one of many, many reasons to sell your PS3!

See, I have a PS3, and no desire what-so-ever to own a 360.

The only area in which the 360 excels is online play, and the PS3 is closing the gap all the time (never mind that the service is free)

Of course, I don't give a rats ass about online play, as it's usually overrun by trolls (particularly on the 360) and can't possibly compete with sitting next to the person who's ass your kicking.

Ever.

(okay maybe some bits but I've never had the care to finish any of the games, and that's pretty sad)

Well, try finishing the games then? They have incredible production values and it shows throughout the series. You sound like you just don't turn-based. If that's the case then hate 'em all, not just one series.

Oh, and it'll be so much better on the PS3 anyway. 360 is a downgrade with graphics and it's probably gonna be put on four discs like Lost Odyssey.

I love Grandia. I love Wild Arms (before 4).
I like good turn-based games. FF is just...

... it's way too boring.
I would beat them if I didn't get deathly bored half way through every last one of them.
Hell, I've made it farther through Dragon Quest VIII than any of the FF games, and that has the most traditional turn-based style battle system of them all.

In my experience, that's the sign of a bad game.

I beat the first Final Fantasy on NES and didn't hate it, but didn't love it.

And it was only because I was really, really bored.

I didn't mind Final Fantasy 1-4. Heck, even 9 wasn't that bad. All the others are crap, though.

Last good one was 10.

Give this man a woman to have his way with!  Online play offers nothing to me and is fecies compared to chocolate to being in the same room with the people you're playing with.  It's call INTERACTION, and you don't get it online.  So with the focus being online bull##### with FPS and Sport games and the single worst hardware ever, I will not ever own a 360.  A PS3?  Someday, maybe.  Once the price hits the magic $250 mark.  And by then, it might have about 10 or so core games to warrent the purchase.

As for the FF13 issue, it isn't one.  First, FF has been a hollow shell of it's former self since 8, and 7 wasn't really even that great.  It sells on name alone anymore.  Second, if anyone thinks any significant number of people are going to shift sales wise based on this, they're a troll or fanboy or both.  People who own a 360 will be able to play a port of a #####ty PS3 game, thats it.  People who already have a PS3 aren't going to sell thier consoles like lemmings going over a cliff to get a 360 just to play FF13.

Also, enjoy now having to wait another year for this game, since Square said they're going to release both console versions at the same time, and they haven't even STARTED the 360 port yet.  If PS3 owners got screwed in any way over this, it's that they have to wait even LONGER now for it to come out.  But that's it.

Meanwhile, I'll be enjoying the ##### out of my DS, the last bastion of REAL gaming.

I like online play.

... With friends. Usually when you play with the majority of people over the world, you tend to get the people with dicks for heads.

I might get a 360. Maybe a PS3. Not anytime soon. It just depends in the future.

Online play lacks sufficient interactivity, even with friends.

After all, you can't beat the crap out of your buddy who's being a dick with the rocket launcher, or press jump at inappropriate times to annoy the hell out of your other buddy.

You lose all of that fun arsing around with each other, and replace real people with faceless (sometimes voiceless) people who can sit around and be dicks all day without any severe repercussion.

Punishment is necessary to foster good social development!

You're just being a senile, grumpy old man now, Chron. Just stop it. If you like traditional 'party' gaming, you're welcome to invite everyone to your house everyday, otherwise, let people enjoy the less interactive online play. It's damn lot better than just offline play.

Well, let's say all your local friends are busy and you want to play someone in a game. Online play makes that happen.

If done correctly anyway.

Anyway, like I said before, I could care less about a PS3/360 and what they have to offer at the moment.
