This news was reported by the Japanese newspaper called Nikkei, which is the equivalent to the New York Times, so they don't publish rumours.

Apparently those screens are OLEDs.

Meaning they're paper thin.

But you get tons of battery time saved from it.

Same here. I mean, I wanted to trade in my regular DS for a Lite but for whatever reasons it never happened.

Anyway I don't really care about the extra ##### but I might as well wait for this instead of finally getting a DS Lite. It's mainly because my DS is getting crappier, not because of looks or anything.

Yeah, that's why I got my Lite. My DS was just wearing out, and there was that trade-in deal so the Lite was less money if I just traded it in anyway.

The Nintendo DSi is announced!

Umm, no sources yet, this comes from a live blog on wired... but its real, because the Nintendo event is going on as I type this message!

New features:

- 12%, 2.6 millimeters lighter, no more GBA slot
- bigger screens, better speakers, 300,000 pixels cam
- screens are 3.25 inches
- camera and audio functions
- pictures taken should be able to be manipulated via touch screens
- pitch and sound playback speed can be adjusted

It might be neat to be able to back some VC games to SD card and play off the SD card on the new DS, if possible.

13:56: You can take games you've downloaded to the DSi with you. Also, Wii Points will be renamed to become Nintendo Points.

13:56: The Nintendo DSi will come with a browser included.
13:58: DS Ware will be able to be downloaded from the Nintendo DSi Shop.
13:59: Titles will be placed into Free, 200, 500, and Premium (800) categories. DSi systems that connect by March, 2010 will receive 1000 Points as a gift.

Will be released next year for everywhere outside of Japan.

This is a DS upgrade, not a DS2. But it sounds awesome. Apparently, it comes out in Japan next month.

No GBA slot is a bit of a disappointment, but I already have my current DS to do that job.

For the Wii, they just announced a new service of games called "Tap Games."

Games that came out on the GCN (like Pikmin) will be re-released to work on the Wii with the Wiimote.

They just announced Sin & Punishment 2, Trace Memory, and, oh god, PUNCH OUT FOR THE WII

Samurai Warriors 3 announced, Monster Hunter 3 announced, next flag-ship Tales of (not ToS2) game will be for Wii.

DSiWare huh? Well, I have to say all that is making me envy the new DS, it kind of looks shmeh, and the camera isn't surprising at all.

I just want to know what there'll be for DSiWare..

And Punch Out looks crazy good.

OH MY #####ING GOD!  Thank you Nintendo.  If that's how the entire game is going to be, then this is the PERFECT next gen remake/sequal to Punch-Out!  Gameplay looks spot on with none of the Super Punch-Out garbage.  Now if it's 3 rounds, has Doc telling you to join the Nintendo Fan Club today and boss training montoges, this could be the single best Wii game EVER...

Though we still need Bald Bull, Piston Honda and Don Flamingo.

Not that it matters in a game... but the graphics look really good.

Graphics most definitely DO matter in a game, and they matter quite a bit actually, but they don't MAKE the game, and they are ALWAYS second to gameplay.

I was going to add more, and say that by graphics, I don't mean "Make everything look ultra-realistic."

I mean, make everything look nice. Presentation, really.

If 8-bit is the style of your game, then by all means, if it looks great then there's absolutely nothing wrong with that.

But anyone who says graphics aren't important is kidding themselves, unless they mean it in the sense of "ultra-realistic super-mega-polygons craziness."
