WHAT'S THAT YA MISS ASS GRAVY? I preferred to name them Red and Blue, same goes for Gold and Silver. Ever since Ruby and Sapphire came along, naming them got weird.

I've ALWAYS loved Gold and Silver. It was the cream of the crop.

I love Red and Blue, and the old bastard in me would say it's better just to be contradictory...

... but hell, Gold and Silver have #####ing sentrets, and that just nullifies any arguments I could come up with.
As if I could. G&S is the best set of games in the series; I only hope they don't ruin the remake by including any crap Pokemon that should not be in the game... or "dress up contests" or whatever the hell they are.

It was the game that got everything right and never needed anything more.

Pretty much sums up my feelings about the game.

You got both Johto and Kanto in a game where you only expected one. I love it when games do that, it's very welcoming.

They're probably gonna bring back the stupid dress up contests. Which sucks, but whatever, I'll just look past that and into the game I love.

And obviously the National Pokedex will include Pokemon from all generations.

Agggggreeeeed.

Gold and Silver might be more refined, gaming-wise, but there's no Pokémon feeling like that first playthrough of Red and Blue. Such discovery. If I'm talking which I like more it's definitely Red over all other Pokémon games, regardless of technical advancements and such since it's just based on sheer feeling.

Besides, no starter Pokémon set has ever been better than Squirtle, Bulbasaur, and Charmander. That's a #####ing holy trinity.

True on that, Mike. I loved playing through Red my first time and asking myself "Why do all the pokemon look retarded?". I never knew they made the games first. Ahh nostalgia..

But Gold and Silver were awesome, I was the first kid to know about it after reading it in a magazine. For me, it was like playing MegaMan 9, I never thought there would be a sequel, and they happened to be Gold and Silver, totally appropriate!

I credit Gold and Silver as the last great Pokémon games. After 250 it got ridiculous with all the additions. One of my friends still plays them all (which sounds lame since he's a year older than me, but he's actually one of the coolest guys I know and a big partier so it makes me laugh) and he was giving me gripe 'cause I said my party from Silver could take anything he's got now (I'm sure they could).

But I might even get the Silver remake. There's something about it, you know.

Yeah, Gold and Silver's starters STILL piss me off to this day. I think they're all awful. Like, I really dislike all three of them. That actually really dampens Gold and Silver for me. But oh man, I was as excited for G/S as the next kid. I actually still have this giant poster my parents framed that I drew when I was excited for it. I'll take a picture sometime. It's got a giant Ho-Oh and Lugia on it with a bunch of other "new" Pokemon.

I was playing Platinum for a while earlier but got bored of it in less than a week. Maybe I'll pick it up again.

But yeah, Red is the best. I'm with Mike. Sure, it's more sentimentality than anything, but that really was such a great game. In its heyday, when you KNEW all of your friends were ALSO playing it, and you could just link up and trade or battle... it's probably the most fun I've ever had playing a videogame. Nothing will ever beat that for me.

I remember how EVERYONE had Red, and people who had Blue were made fun of, until we all asked them to trade with us and stuff.. haha.

But I loved the starters for G/S, excluding Chikorita. Totodile was awesome, and Cyndaquil was the next best fire starter next to Charmander.

Chimchar is WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY better than Cyndaquil. Cyndaquil is the epitome of awful. Totodile was ugly and annoying. Chikorita was the best of the G/S batch, and even THAT was terrible.

Anyway, for better or for worse, here's the poster I drew:

Dude, what? No. Chikorita was just bleh, had no attraction, Totodile was a crocodile, PERFECT starter! And Chimchar and all of the newer pokemans suck compared to the G/S ones.

I always pick water. And I don't mind Totodile at all, I hate his middle one, but Feraligatr or whatever kind of grew on me enough that I didn't hate him completely.

Level 70 Lugia? Please. Mine's at 100. My whole team is at 100. But that's not hard or special, everyone does that.

Anyway around here, Red was the minority. But that made you cool, not an outcast. I had Red. When G/S came out, everyone and I had Silver. But people didn't like Gold, so having would have made you an outcast I guess. But I really don't think anyone made fun of you for it by that point.

My favourite water type will always be Squirtle/Wartortle/Blastoise. Wartortle looks kind of weird with his wing head and stuff, but it grows on you and face it; Wartortle is BADASS name.

My favourite fire type is Growlithe/Arcanine. That would have made an insane starter, if they'd added a middle evolution. I think I would have liked further Pokémon games more if they'd added less new monsters each time and instead of three new starters EVERY time they'd shuffle it with some older cool ones. How cool would it be to start with a Growlithe? So cool it's hot.

They should make, like, an alternate Red/Blue with completely different starters and a completely different storyline, but it's all the same Pokemon.

Like, it's just some other trainer's adventure at the same time. And he comes to the Elite Four directly after the first dude does and then claims the spot IMMEDIATELY after.

Growlithe is always on my team in Red, along with my Venusaur and Poliwrath. But my favorite fire type is Typhlosion, cool name and cool look; it had fire COMING OUT OF IT'S NECK/BACK. Flame Wheel was a kick ass move too, I remember learning that against the gym leaders Steelix, thinking it was a rock type and not knowing fire>steel, I used it as some last resort/I don't care move. KO'd the bitch, I was hyped.

Lv. 70 Lugia, that's right. It makes for a wicked high pokemon to catch. No one cares that your team is level 100 anyway, that's kind of bogus since everyone will think you rare candied it. If you didn't that's cool too, but still no biggie.

The wingy things on Wartortles head were pretty boss, it somehow reminded me of soldiers or something, I don't know. Air force maybe? Wouldn't make much sense so blehh.

I don't like Typhlosion's look at all. His sprite looks like a flaming turd that became sentient. Moreover actual art of him looks like a ferret, and I'm not a fan of them.

The wings on Wartortle reminded you of soldiers, most likely because Captain America has wings in the same place.

I rare cadied some Pokémon to 100 in Red with the item trick, but after that I just played them to death. So I'm sure Lugia is a legit 100. I hate Ho-Oh so he's lower still, in the 70's I think. My other 100's are like, the 3 legendary birds, Blastoise, and I think Mewtwo or something. I need to get an Arcanine up there :-O

The part of Wartortle's design I don't like is his tailpiece.
