Still Wiiless...

I don't care if this is 2009 and that joke is 3 years old, YOU STILL LACK A WII.

(Although I do desire a 360 this time around...)

The 360 is nice, but the entire generation lacks that certain kind of game.
That game that is genuinely fun.
The game that doesn't get old.
A game that is just truly FUN.

I need to try Fallout 3 and Mass Effect.
I also need to give some other games a try.

I think I'm getting tired of videogames in general, although I can still have a lot of fun.

While I considered it for awhile, I ultimately chose not to sell my Wii.

There may not be much on the system right now, but I think patience will pay off in the long run.

Also, JC, I completely understand how you feel. There's a part of me that is very much afraid that I'm falling out of love with gaming, because it just doesn't pull me in like it used to.
I really, really don't want that to be the case, so I'm currently telling myself that it has more to do with this generation of games than anything else.

I'm very sure it does.

Regardless, I'm going to hook up my old Gamecube in the living room and play through Windwaker again.

Just because.

Suda 51 says the No More Heroes franchise needs to leave the Wii if it's going to be successful.

http://www.edge-online.com/news/no-more-heroes-will-%E2%80%9Cneed-a-new-platform%E2%80%9D

If it comes out for the 360, I really will have NO regrets.

... Wow, so far it's just ONE game that's not even all that good. Someone get this guy off his ego trip. So far all I've heard from him is whinery about how it doesn't get enough attention, when so far all I see in this is a mediocre game that only has decent gameplay when you're not masturbating the controller or doing random boring crap for money.

And the attempts at humour in the game aren't funny at all. They really just make me twitch. I almost feel embarassed to play the game, which is a huge turn off from playing it, even when I'm alone and even though that's usually the case.

Could just be my personal taste I guess.

No More Heroes was lame once you got past the crazy stylizations and absurd storyline.

It oozes style, but that causes you to forget that it's a pretty bad game otherwise.

It's kind of like the movie Running Scared. If you just let the experience wash over you, it's pretty good.

The moment you start to think about things, however, it all goes to hell in a hand basket.

I enjoyed No More Heroes simply due to the fact that I have a friend who, at least I'm pretty sure, sees himself this way.

Not that it's even remotely true; with the possible exception of the insane fan-boy-ism, and general complete lack of social grace.

I sort of have to play devil's advocate to you guys and say I'm kind of hoping I get more out of gaming. Right now it's fine, I'm playing one game at a time and then moving onto another straight away, but come August I have to cut that out completely.

I'll have to not play games until around this time next year. OK, so it's not really something I want, I just have to do it that way.

Anyway I never tried No More Heroes. I don't have a drive to, but I wouldn't mind checking it out if the planets so aligned.

This game is out already, I think, but I'm not playing it so this seems like a better thread to ask;

What's with the Goldeneye quality graphics in the backgrounds of The Conduit? I mean, I don't care about graphics really but this is still a 2009 Wii release. Granted I've only seen a screen or two but it looks pretty rrrough.

The Conduit's graphics could be better, but I never noticed anything bad about the backgrounds. The artstyle could have gone in a better direction though.

Online is hella fun and The Grinder (another game by the same company) looks like it'll be 1000x better.

The Conduit for the Wii has graphics that are no better than Halo 1 on the XBox.

8 years later and that is the Wii's graphical limit.

It's funny, all the shooting games are made for the 360 and PS3, but the Wii Remote is the best controller for shooting games.

Now the systems that have relied on their regular controllers for shooting games are going to try for controls more like the Wii, but they will be impossible for shooting games. (maybe)

But if Project Natal can allow people to drive effectively in games like Burnout paradise, seeing the small hand movements of the 'wheel,' maybe you'll be able to use props depending on the game.
That would be sweet.

Mouse and keyboard > wii remote, but beyond that yes.

Also why are we comparing the game to Halo? Is it that bland?

I'm not into the idea of using "props" to play games mainly because I don't think I should have to buy a different add on for every other game.

The Conduit for the Wii has graphics that are no better than Halo 1 on the XBox.

8 years later and that is the Wii's graphical limit.

Well duh. The Wii only went for a MINOR upgrade in graphics from Gamecube in favor of innovation.

I'm not saying I expected it to look incredible, and I haven't played it to really see for myself, but the backgrounds I saw in screenshots in print (ads in comics) looked worse than Gamecube graphics. Seriously N64 territory.

It's pretty obvious when you play it that things weren't meant to stand up to close scrutiny.

The designs for that are so weird. Harley Quinn looks way different. There's parts I think are cool but overall it's too different and not knowing much about the game other than some designs I don't understand why they change it around like that.

Well with Harley Quinn at least she was like "How do you like my new uniform?" So there's at least an explanation for that.

They just wanted to sex it up. Is Poison Ivy a lot different too? 'Cause basically you've got this big green almost naked woman.

I'm really excited for the game, but the most important part is I'm not sure how much I'm going to end up enjoying the gameplay. It looks like it could end up too much like Assassin's Creed.

Do you know that a lot of the voice actors are from the Animated Series?

Batmanly.

You do detective work, you beat people up, and you sneak around when there's a lot of people with guns around.

There's plenty of gadgets that apparently you... level up? There's skillpoints and stuff. You get more experience from higher combos and perhaps, I imagine, skilled stealth takedowns and such.

The Animated Series voice actors are the only ones who should be doing the voicework for the game.

They just wanted to sex it up. Is Poison Ivy a lot different too? 'Cause basically you've got this big green almost naked woman.

She almost has MORE clothes in the game. I'll look into the story of the game tomorrow and try to figure it out.

I'm worried Catwoman's gonna look bad, and she's like my favourite Batman character/favourite DC chick.

Scribblenauts came out today if anyone's interested.

It's that game where you write in a word and then the object is created and basically you got to get this item in every level (200+) using your imagination in anyway possible.

There are 22,000+ objects to write in the game, according to some DS Hackers who looked into the game's coding.

Should be fun for pretty much everyone.

--this part of the post was about how I do illegal stuff and sometimes play things early!--

But yeah, it's awesome but very disappointing. A lot of objects don't work the way you want them to, and a lot of things just aren't there or are entirely useless.

It's still really cool, there's just no way it could have lived up the hype. It's still the greatest PREMISE for a game I've ever heard.

It's also VERY hard. Surprisingly hard, even. Long, too. Tons of replay value, almost endless. There's a level editor, but I haven't tried it yet.

Wind Waker is not a bad game.

And I like the style, it's adorable. Sure, it's not as serious looking as other games in the series but it's got great appeal and they animated it better than a lot of games are done now. The game itself had good gameplay and the story was interesting enough to carry a Zelda game. Underwater Hyrule Castle? ##### off that was awesome.
